iPad Pro preorders are approaching and I was curious as to what configurations everyone else had in mind, especially since I'm having a bit of difficulty making a decision myself.

I don't think I'll be doing any serious note taking on it requiring the keyboard, since I'm no longer in school and have a 2011 MacBook Air which functions very well. I will probably choose the space gray finish since I prefer the black bezels for viewing video content. I'm very interested in the drawing aspect of it since I do design work, so I will definitely be getting the pencil. I just don't know if I should spring for the 128GB model. $799 for the iPad is kinda the sweet spot, but I don't know if 32GB will be enough.

So the questions are:

- Which finish? (Silver, Gold, Space Gray)

- Which Capacity?
(Wi-Fi 32GB: $799
Wi-Fi 128GB: $949
Cellular 128GB: $1079)

- Accessories?
(Apple Pencil: $99
Smart Keyboard: $169)

- What will you primarily use it for?
Space Gray
32GB WiFi
Apple Pencil
Smart Keyboard

I don't want to cause trouble, but do you know that with the iPhone 6s, the 16gb chips use a different memory controller than the others that is MUCH slower?

Point is, now with this weird gap between the 32gb and 128gb, it makes me a little nervous. I would be pissed-beyond if this was the case here. With the iPhone, who cares, but this?

I, and probably most informed people, would return it for the 128GB.

I'm sure it's nothing, but maybe needs to be addressed, given it's a reality with the new phone.

Anyways, it's probably moot as I may just get the 128GB.

Go big I always get the best configuration that is offered. Rather have to much and not use than need it and not have it.

I can't decide between the white iPad or space grey!

I've only owned space gray devices ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Other than that: 128 GB and Apple Pencil

If you have always owned Space Grey, I'd recommend sticking with it. I have twice tried white devices, once an iPad and once an iPhone. I simply do not enjoy interacting with it, with a white bezel. I know many are fine with it, but I learned to not even consider it now. Perhaps if I had tried sooner, I don't know.

32GB is a hair too little, 64GB would be ideal, but that forces me to the 128GB option (*sigh*).

So: 128GB Space Gray + Pencil

Kinda wish other colors came with a black bezel honestly.

I was wondering a little about ordering the Apple keyboard, but finally found the pics on the Apple site that show that it the keyboard cover can go into a couple of prop mode angles (not using the keyboard). The Logitech keyboard looks to have a more traditional keyboard, but I'm not sure what non-key board prop angles it supports. They are only giving a sneak peek. I was simply going all Apple on this, but sure would like to find out more about both of the keyboards.

Getting one through work:

128GB + Cellular

Smart Cover... maybe the Pencil or Paper Pen.

Going to use it mainly for watching Movies at night

Same boat, I tried once but just couldn't do it. I think white looks better, but in usage I just can't.

I'm waiting until the reviews are out and I can use the iPP in store. I'm sure it will be a perfectly capable tablet but I'm not getting the pencil + keyboard before trying them out.

If I do get one, I'd like to go for the 32 (don't usually store much on my iPads, have been fine with streaming and cloud storage) but that depends on the size of apps specific for iPP and the other assets.

Nobody wants to buy 16 or 32GB device anymore so 64 and up is more common for all kind of devices be it iPhone, iPad, etc...look at bigger megapixel, 4K video, large size of apps, etc.
And precisely that is why the upsell tactic works. If they offer a 64GB version, presumably less people will get the 128. Usually such tactics aren't as blatantly obvious though. Apple does tend to pull some really cheap moves in 2015 (just look at the default specs across the new iMacs).

Seeing all the images of the planet wallpapers on the iPad pro has convinced me to go space gray. Just looks so seamless (I also plan on using Jupiter or Saturn as my lock screen wallpaper )

Honestly the only reason why I would buy the iPad pro is if target sold it so I wouldn't be forced to pay the "full" price ;) #blackfriday2015

I always go space grey on my iPads (at least the bigger ones as I have a gold mini). I'll be using this to watch movies on when I travel and I think it just looks better against the black bezels.

128GB Wifi Space Grey
Apple Pencil (just cause :D)

After much debate I decided i'm getting the 32gb as the extra $150 was spent on the apple tv today, plus I have a 16gb version now with room to spare!

Space Gray
128 LTE + Wifi

I want a midnight blue smart case, but for some unknown reason Apple isn't making a smart case for the Pro. I'm going to look around to see what I can find that is comparable to the smart case.

Earlier today I was in the Apple for Education store and iPad Pro's popped up. They had all 3 colors, but only the 128GB Wifi+Cellular config. Shipping was "Coming Soon".

That's interesting, there is nothing here in the UK it just says "November" hopefully pre-orders will start soon tho.

Yep.

If I find I need more space I can always upgrade; which if I recall correctly, I did numerous times already and vowed i would never do again :D

Oh well Wtf.

I'm tempted by the Pro (pretty much entirely for the stereo speakers) but the +£321 premium over the 128GB Air 2 (refurbished) is really hard to swallow.

If I get one, it'll be 128Gb Cellular + Apple Pencil.

Primary use will be sketching, illustration and document creation. And of course watching movies and videos on that beautiful big screen. ;)

Yes me too and I will check the surface 4 too the one that the pencil works better I will keep

My Surface Pro 3 fills the need perfectly. I'm also very eager for my Surface Book to arrive.

Apples iPad Pro looks good, but for those of us that need more functionality Microsoft Provides that.
