I really dont see why you would safari over webkit. webkit is much faster and works/looks exactly the same as safari.

also haven't we had like 3billion threads about what everyone's favorite web browser is?

OK I am not a Safari user but I know that it can at least do some of these, so perhaps it is worth actually trying it for yourself before just assuming it can not do them.

I never assumed it didn't have the ability to, i was honestly wanting to know if it could. If you tell me or show me how to do everything that firefox can do, i would think about switching.

System Preferences - Keyboard and Mouse - Keyboard Shortcuts - +

Or the default cmd+] works fine with just two buttons.

Good tip, it sort of works for me. And btw, default is not cmd+], its cmd+}, which is 3 buttons (and on the side of my mouse hand; not convenient when I'm already cmd-tabbing around with my left hand)

Have you used Safari recently? You can easily drag and drop tabs. THe more advanced features are lacking though.

I use it everyday for web testing purposes. I'm still missing the ability to have complete control over tab sequences or the restoring of closed tabs.

Force an encrypted connection, where is says http:// add the s so that it is https:// More advanced features are lacking.

But it's not automatic. The FF extension does it for you.

New tab is just drag and drop to the tab bar. New window is not possible in one move.

Have you used quickdrag (or any of the other drag variants)? You can open a new tab by dragging and throwing upwards to create a new tab from teh link into a new tab in the foreground. Drag down and its created in the background. No need to go all the way up to the bar with accuracy. When working with hundreds of links a day, the time saved is huge.

I try getting in to Firefox but to be honest the sheer number of extensions totally put me off. I had to go and actively think of what I wanted/needed in the browsing expereince and then try and work out which was the best extension for it. It is a good browser and I imagine once you get in to it then it is a really good browser but just not for me.

I use Opera's mouse gestures for handling links so know the beauty of them.

hey if any browser will let me do this,
i will switch to it for gaming.

Opera can disable sound for webpages, however it is is a plugin such as flash making the sound then it falls back onto the plugin for volume control and doesn't override it.

What OS X (intel/Leopard) really really desperately needs is a version of Detour. Here is looking at you apple.

How does Activity Windows allow me to download all files that are *.mp3 on the current page in 2 clicks?

Hmm... let me see about .mp3 files but i did get to download some video files..

I've always preferred the simplicity and speed of Safari, but use Firefox for unfriendly sites.

And i always thought that Firefox is the fastest browser out there :) And what's with these unfriendly sites? Doesn't Safari warn you when you're about to visit one?

Google chrome. I use this at school and there is a HUGE difference in speed between this and IE. Safari is fastest for me on my macbook (compared to firefox) but I would have to say chrome is even faster!! Not only that but they have a very unique user-friendly interface.

I can't wait till chrome comes out on macs!!!

Firefox has never let me down. Except a few crashes and the fact that it didn't pass acid3 test like Opera, Safari 4 and Chrome did.. :( Well that kind of sad but at least it's stable and has all these nice addons.. :)

Mostly Firefox for me, great browser with great add-ons.
Although I prefer the look of the Safari, so I use Safari theme on my FF3 :)

But when I'm on Windows under bootcamp, I use IE. Just because most of the sites that I visit regularly under windows needs ActiveX certification. (ugh)
And the IE is really the ONLY reason why I run bootcamp. I can so live without Windows if Mac OS X had an up-to-date version of IE.

The UI looks so dull due to primer grey buttons on Safari

btw I'm using three different browsers but voted 4 Camino since its used the most lately

What's the best browser for Mac?

Firefox will constantly stop loading pictures and/or the CSS of a page. I have to quit it completely and restart it constantly. I have to do that nearly every day, if not five times in a day! I'm doing important things on my browser.

I've tried netscape, but it won't load certain things, so I must use firefox, as it's the only browser I HAVE that will load those certain things. Also, netscape seems to lag when I try to play any sort of online flash game.

What's a good browser that has pop-up protection (or has add ons for that) and will cooperate with me for everything I need it for?
