White iPhone 4 DELAYED. Officially

Somewhere on this site there was a discussion about some woman over in Britain who, in fact, already has a white iPhone4. I will probably never find that article again but I know I saw it. Something like Apple gave her a choice of white or black and she chose white.

She probably does not realize that she has the only white iPhone in existence and how rare it is. If she were to put it on ebay, I bet it would fetch 20-30 grand easily.

It wasn't her iPhone. It was a review unit sent by Apple (she is a Tech Editor for the Telegraph).

Anyone given any thought as to why the :apple: homepage now says iPhone 4 is here. - when a week or two ago, with a picture of iPhone 4, it used to say This Changes Everything. Again. Syntax is powerful. Albeit it's still an awesome phone - no question, but given the current climate regarding the antenna reception and now the white iP4 delay...I guess it's only fitting to have changed that catch-phrase.

They must have already made the decision to delay by the Antennagate press conference. If they were going to release at the end of July like they said, they would have announced a date for pre-orders to begin.

They must not have wanted to dump another bit of news that would have bothered the crowd. Wait a week and then quietly drop a press release on a Friday to minimize the news coverage.

Cant say I blame them. Now I think I'll wait for FaceTime to function over 3G (or over LTE with Verizon, pretty please, Apple!) to upgrade my family.

Its more a case of your apartment isn't ready, but they have an identical apartment that's painted a different color. Then when your original apartment is ready you can sell your apartment for more than what your original apartment costs. AND you get a new apartment with a new battery rather than an old apartment with 6 months of use on its battery.

Calm Down.

PS. LOL @ everyone who thought they would swap their black phones for white ones. Especially those who already returned their black ones.

I feel legitimately sorry for the people that waited to get the white iP4. They could have bought a black iP4 knowing full well that they were going to return it just so they could get the white but instead they choose to do otherwise.
 
just ordered a black 32GB through premier website. i was patiently waiting for white, and it's possible i would have continued to wait if they hadn't strung us along (intentionally or not) and could give a better estimate than "later" this year. in the end, it's just a color, and the trade-off of continuing to wait to get a white is no longer worth it for me.

You can't even Skype over WIFI on Verizon, so what makes you think you will be able to facetime over 3g / LTE....

I just ordered the black iphone this morning. I gave it. This waiting is ridicules. iphone 5 will be out by the time the iphone 4 comes out in white.

I think apple is racist. :D sorry, I had to play the race card.

by the way, this would make an interesting poll, see how many people gave up and ordered and how many people are going to wait for the white iphone.

They may have taken it down off the home page...but it still says that on the iPhone page.

I'm not so sure. Could be something that came up at the last minute. If they said at the press conf, that it won't ship until Sep or Oct would've been FAR less worse than what happened today.

Seriously, if a parts house has these, they are either not up to Apple's standards, OR the workers are sneaking them out in their underwear every day.
 
To you people who are saying stop overreacting, I realize life goes on, but this is a complete joke. You just had a press conference a week ago saying you're gonna start shipping them at the end of July and all this bull about how happy you want your users to be, and now you pull this? I all along with many other people have been waiting patiently for it, and now we just get slapped in the face. If they would've said this in the first place, I probably would have gotten black. Now I'm still waiting, I'm not giving in to them.
 
Lots of posts but had to add it myself.

All those who waited for the white Ip4: sucks, I feel bad for those who truly wanted white and waited. Apple, however is under no obligation to produce the white phone, so I hope people don't post a bunch of BS about how they are entitled to a white iPhone because they waited. It does suck though.

All those who just returned black Ip4 thinking you were gonna get white:
Ha Ha...HaHaHa...HaHaha...Ha. Now it will prob take you 3+ weeks to get your hands on a another black one. Also. If u want IP4 don't hold out for white. We may not see it at all

Give me a break. It's more likely just what they said; a self-imposed delay so Apple can deliver the high quality product that we expect. The delay hurts Apple more than any hypothetical benefit and it would be a disaster for Apple and for customers if they delivered an inferior product.

I completely agree with this. I ordered my black one this morning, also from Premier. Hopefully AT&T will get some of those huge shipments that BGR referred to and they'll ship earlier than the 7-14 days. Either way, I have a feeling the phone will get to me sooner than the CandyShell I ordered last week.
