A lot of you don't understand the issue, or how disappointing this is.

regardless of whether or not YOU personally like the white iPhone, other people do. Other people, like myself, who were told to wait a little longer, then a little longer, and now a lot longer. That's irritating. It would have been much better if apple had been honest and said "we're having manufacturing problems, it'll have to be later this year, sorry."

I had the opportunity to buy a black twice and I gave it up to wait for white, which I now regret. I might actually wait for iP5. :rolleyes:

That just about sums it up. Could have had a black iPhone this whole time if I had known the white wasn't going to be out until "sometime later this year." :mad:
 
I've wanted the white since the day they were announced, I simply prefer it. Its unavailability isn't what made me want it, it just makes me annoyed. You're hearing a lot of people complaining about it on here now, but it's still a small percentage compared to those who have already gotten or are planning to get black.
 
I'm in the 'wanted a white iPhone' crowd. I'm not prepared to wait any longer, so I put my name on a list for the black one. I do think the black one looks much more attractive; I was concerned about fingerprints showing but now I don't care.

Now those weeks of waiting and checking email...
 
Well, mid/end of July isn't that painful, it's only a one-month wait. But 'end of the year' is potentially another six months. No way.

Now I just need to find a way of tracking down a non-black bumper.
 
To be fair, the white iPhone 4 looks infinately superior to the White 3GS.

Because of the curved design of the 3GS, the half black/half white combo looked horrible.

But the White iPhone 4 looks perfect from any angle.
 
Yep. But because of these string-us-along delays, I've been phoneless for a month and from the looks of it, won't be getting a free case, either, if the dates keep slipping.

Oh well.
 
We want it because Apple said they were releasing it and it looks cool. If they had only announced a black one I wouldn't want a white one. They told us a week ago that we would be able to get one next week, so it seems reasonable to expect they were being truthful.

Absolutely. There isn't going to be a white iPhone 4.

You know Apple very well...ok...and other people don't? You know what information employees are privy too? Ok, then fill everyone in...

You didn't see the internal memo they had for the antenna issue? They definitely had instructions to lead customers towards certain directions...they could easily be planning on not releasing the phone, and are using a long delay to ease people away from that model. Hence, "buy the black phone, we aren't sure." It's all speculation, but come on, don't be naive...
 
you guys really think all this is because of the quality of paint color on the glass?


apple is clearly delaying the white iphone until they resolve the antennae issue

Some, maybe. I've wanted the white one since they leaked pictures of the parts in May. Guess I'll just have to get a white iPhone 5, if they keep the case design.

It seems likely that there's more at play here than just issues with paint quality. I have no idea, whether it's yellowing, cracking, or something else, but I have a gut feeling that Walt Mossberg and those Maroon 5 fans are going to be the only people with them, ever, period.

yeah, i wanted it when i first saw it as well.

as far as we knew, the white was shipping with the black at launch. then the day before pre-orders started, rumors were flying about the white being pulled, and sure enough they were true. we've been strung along ever since. but no more! i just paid apple $300 to end the pain!

Yeah, there's already rumors that it isn't coming out, and since so far the worst-case scenario has been true every time, that's the theory I'm running with.

I'm getting a 32GB black, and (if) the white ever comes out, I'll sell it on Craigslist and buy a white one.
