A lot of you don't understand the issue, or how disappointing this is.

Irregardless of whether or not YOU personally like the white iPhone, other people do. Other people, like myself, who were told to wait a little longer, then a little longer, and now a lot longer. That's irritating. It would have been much better if apple had been honest and said "we're having manufacturing problems, it'll have to be later this year, sorry."

I had the opportunity to buy a black twice and I gave it up to wait for white, which I now regret. I might actually wait for iP5.

Irregardless....lol.

you guys really think all this is because of the quality of paint color on the glass?

apple is clearly delaying the white iphone until they resolve the antennae issue
They had a white iPhone availability issue before they shipped a single black iPhone 4 and before the antenna thing blew up in their face.

Why would they want to put the brakes on sales of a device that they officially state does not have a problem?

Here's a question for you? How difficult would it be for you to paint your bedroom windows with black paint to block light? Then think how difficult it would be to do so with white paint.

That's basically what they're trying to do, block any illumination from the LED backlight to seep through to the outside, or worse, to let ambient light in the environment affect the display performance of the handset. Apple doesn't have the option of caking on the paint like you do on your living room wall.

Rough summer for Apple.

except for the still making hundreds of millions part.

See, that's the thing, it's just like that recent episode of Futurama. Apple can do whatever they want and they'll still make money hand over fist.

Why does everybody want a white Iphone 4 so badly? In the 3GS model the black model clearly outsold the white by a landslide.

Yes, because the white 3Gs was ugly as hell (I have one). The black iP4 is dull as ***** and looks like every other phone. The white looked like a Mac should look IMO, that's why I waited.

For me I just want a change. I went from the original iPhone to the 3GS in Black and I want to do White for the iPhone 4. It will just make me feel better about blowing 300 bucks on something I really don't need hehe.

Since the 3G, I've had White iPhones.. I just prefer the look. I was pretty bummed to hear the news. I am not sure if I'm just going to wait for 5, or buy a black one. I guess I have another couple of weeks on a waiting list if I want to buy a black one, anyway. So I might as well just wait a little bit more. :\

Yeah, there's already rumors that it isn't coming out, and since so far the worst-case scenario has been true every time, that's the theory I'm running with.

I'm getting a 32GB black, and (if) the white ever comes out, I'll sell it on Craigslist and buy a white one.

If you sell your iPhone 4 on CL how do you get out of the AT&T 2 year contract?

Would you then have to pay full price for the white iPhone 4?

Just curious, I've been wondering how all that works out.

I don't know how much longer I can wait. I have a feeling now that I may just miss out the iP4 and use the 3GS for another year. After all, it is a bloody brilliant phone as it is.

whatever helps you sleep at night

So Is an apple store wait list the #1 fastest way to get an iPhone right now or should I explore other methods.

Just to reiterate, I do understand that they've had manufacturing problems and that's fine - I just wish they'd been honest and upfront, because I'm pretty sure I'm not the only person who's been holding on and is now really disappointed.

Yes, clearly. You know everything, don't you.

You know Apple very well...ok...and other people don't? You know what information employees are privy too? Ok, then fill everyone in...

You didn't see the internal memo they had for the antenna issue? They definitely had instructions to lead customers towards certain directions...they could easily be planning on not releasing the phone, and are using a long delay to ease people away from that model. Hence, "buy the black phone, we aren't sure." It's all speculation, but come on, don't be naive...

I do know Apple very well, I work with them on a daily basis, and I have been privy to some information that others aren't. I did see the internal memo regarding the antenna issue and where to direct. That's completely different that a CS rep claiming to know that the iPhone may not even be out this year, when Apple don't even know for sure. "later this year" is all anyone knows at this point.

BINGO!

Well, you do have to admit that things aren't looking too good for the white iPhone right now.

Lol @ all the fools who took back their black temporary iPhones and now have no phone. White is ugly anyways. Word!

Those of you who just returned your iphone 4 and waiting for white iphone 4...
THAT'S WHAT YOU GET!
