lol @ the guy saying Apple did not lie.
They obviously knew last week at the conference the white is not coming but lied to take the antenna gate heat off. One week later its delayed for multiple months. Sure they had no idea.
I believe its faster for them to produce the black one and at this point they just want money. So they'll mass produce and sell them as fast as possible to meet demand in other countries as well.

Just a few of my thoughts on this.
It's interesting that they've been having quality control issues with the white paint. Haven't they been making white devices at least since their first iPod?
It's amazing how some of you get all in such a tizzy, I had to back off the iPhone forum for a while.

I wouldn't know, but your comment about me "Getting back in my box" was intended to be insulting, but it totally gave me a thrill. Idk, i figure i might as well enjoy those comments instead of being annoyed by them. More fun that way.
Quite disappointing, but I am in no hurry to drop hundreds of dollars on a phone. This news does help with my decision to get that Yamaha P95 digital piano I've been contemplating. My 3G still functions. Guess I'll wait. I admit, I was really looking for forward to a new iPhone, but it's just not that important to me to settle with a black model.

Probably so but knowing as involved as Steve Jobs is in Apple's projects, especially as something as important to him as the iPhone ecosystem, I can't begin to imagine that he would go in front of the world's press and tell them that White iPhones will ship later in July unless he absolutely confirmed that with the California team and then confirmed again with people in China.

)This "we're having trouble making it in white" story is a just a cover.
A BS / PR story to hide the fact that they're redesigning & testing the damn antenna for the white iPhone and don't want to admit it for legal reasons.
Then they'll quietly phase the new parts into the black iphone.
But I bet Apple or Steve Jobs never admits it and just settles the inevitable class action lawsuit and everyone will get a $9 Apple store credit.

Apple was a about passion, now it looks like they think they are god or something. They think too good of themselves, and will never knowledge problems (imac 27", antenna etc etc).

What do you do when you have a REAL decision to make, like between Fruity Pebbles and Lucky Charms for breakfast?
If it really is a manufacturing problem like the other rumors have indicated (ie the white isn't white enough, etc), then it's probably better that they do this. Currently its damned if you do, damned if you don't, and if they release a not perfectly white iPhone at this point the public backlash could potentially be worse than if they just delay it. PR wise, it's probably a wiser move.
