Probably has to do with an AT&T error. Luckily the one I ordered for my wife at AT&T is still there.

What time did you get this email? Are they still canceling orders or are we in the clear?

My order looks ok

Since ordering, at Apple, at 7:03 pm Pacific on launch day, I received

--a confirmation mail from Apple (06/15 7:28)
--a confirmation from AT&T with a Customer Service Summary (06/18)

The check order page at Apple now shows

--Ships: Delivers on June 24

Dialing *NEW# gets me a text saying

--You may select equipment at our full retail pricing. An upgrade may be available on 02/18/2012

These seem to be the signs of a processed order.

Although Best Buy took my order for the white iPhone on Tuesday, they immediately called me Wednesday and offered to let me switch my order to a black one without loosing my order or priority. This may not be ideal, but the customer service was exceptional!

To the people making fun of those who want the new iPhone right away, I present you with 3 logical reasons:

• The price is not going to change for a long time, so you're getting the best value by buying it now

• If you wait a month or longer to get the new phone, then your eligibility for the next phone could be delayed

• It's fun to have new stuff

I also don't see the rationale for waiting, unless you're afraid of manufacturing issues and recalls. You're not saving money. Is it just so you can feel superior in your ability (read: illogical choice) to wait? In principle it should've been extremely simple to go to Apple's site and pre-order a phone that would arrive on launch day. People are understandably annoyed by all the problems.

Most of us work pretty hard for our money. Some people waste it on weed, booze, parties, concerts, or cell phones, but we all blow our money in dumb ways from time to time. It's my money. If I've waited months and didn't use my upgrade because I wanted the new iPhone, that's my damn choice. The fact that many of us waited that long and then had some weird sort of glitch occur is extremely infuriating.

I couldn't get through online so I went and reserved it at one of the Best Buy stores. I was told that no matter what you'll have one as long as you pre-order because they have no specified allotment. While that is obviously false, does anyone have information about how that's supposed to work?

Not getting the phone on the 24th isn't the end of the world, but some people like myself(though I chose to reserve one in store), would rather not have such an expensive item just sitting on their doorstep all day that anyone could walk up and grab. Camping out for days or a week rather is pretty extreme, but this on the other hand makes logical sense.

Thank you :d

I'm starting to think we're all just getting trolled by a bunch of android users. C'mon guys, admit it. This is all just a big prank right. Nobody's orders are really getting canceled. Right? C'mon, come off it now. It was funny and all but people are getting suicidal and all now. Guys?

For people who say people need to get a life: Who the **** are you to tell someone to get a life? Everybody has a life. People choose to do what they want to do. If people are going crazy over a phone, then so be it! Why should you care about what a stranger does anyway? Go piss off.

Ut oh, i upset one of Jesus Job's people. My bad, my bad. I forgot. Steve is God, he can do no wrong and we're completely wrong for expecting an announced product to launch when promised. Steve has a plan for us all, right?

not at all, i'm just pointing out that i imagine you and everyone else wanting a white one would rather have one that doesn't have see-thru sensor zones...

the delay is annoying, no doubt, but would you prefer something half-assed and on-time-- or totally together and thought out, and a bit late? cause if you prefer the former, there're are plenty of other manu's out there who are ready to oblige.

i can see steve as the control freaky megalomaniac that he is, but i also recognize that his pursuit of perfection has given us a great many super products. so i appreciate him, and am willing to sacrifice some superficial things - like ocd adherence to product delivery schedules - for the end result. i have no interest in spending so much money on inferior products shoveled to market with precious little thought and care for quality, but as apple does not do this, i will continue to be a loyal ---

FANBOY.

which is only an insulting term if the entity of which you are a fan takes advantage by performing or delivering in a sub-standard way, which is not the case with apple. they continue to kickass on many levels, and so i stick by them. nuttin' wrong wit dat.

I wish AT&T (We don't have Verizon or T-Mobile here) offered decent Android phones, i'd be done with iPhones at this point. To not give ANY explanation for the white iPhones not being available is a joke. Especially considering they gave no hint that they may not be available when the iPhone 4 was released. And almost a week later, we still hear NOTHING from Apple on the white iPhone 4.

yeah how dare they do this. seriously i wish you would switch to android and leave us alone.

Meh, so it's my fourth arm, whatever. I still love this device and it's the first one I will hopefully have on launch day.

Ha! I couldn't help it. I want my phone too. My 3G battery is on it's last leg. Just having some fun with your post. No harm. Have a good one.

Ok. Maybe I consider myself to be laid back but I don't understand how people get so uptight about such an unimportant sitiuation in life. Have fun and enjoy some things. Come on.

Some of you need to get your priorities straightened out. Yes, you have the right to place the iPhone high on your list of important things, but REALLY? Come on. It's just a phone. There's a lot more crap going on to worry about.

Pathetic.

Any money spent on iPhones is less money that can be spent on Affliction clothes. If people can't get their phones, then I might have to see one more idiot wearing that stuff than I would have had to because of this iPhone debacle.

So yeah, it is a big deal!

This sh*t is stressful man...I cannot believe people who received confirmation e-mails are getting canceled orders for no reason. Just checked mine and it changed to "Prepared for Shipment"...with my kind of luck, anything can happen *knock on wood*

Good luck to the rest of you guys!!

Your situation is different than his. He is suppose to have a contract for each of those phones. You just got screwed by AT&T and got lucky on ordering day

True dat. For those who did get a confirmed reservation/pre-order for one iPhone, and AT&T and/or Apple decides to cancel their order due to erroneous approvals, the order should still be honored. This has been Apple policy for years, so do not acquiesce to their claims that some orders were improperly authorized. Take a screen shot of your order through the Apple Store iPhone application in case the powers that be decide to jerk you around.

I wish Apple would just be more forthcoming with info. There's no need for the silence.

Their silence is more confusion that anything else I bet. The iPhone 4 has become a hell of a lot more popular than anticipated. Some are saying that Apple may get a 5% to 9% increase in market share from single product roll-out this alone.

This is typically supply issues with a hot product. The white color option is a stocking issue. One reason why Henry Ford only shipped cars in black and let dealers or others in the aftermarket chain deal with painting a custom color.

However, this will give the wankers on here more stuff to bitch about for sure.

I guess you live in an apartment complex with a doorman who can sign for stuff, right? Some of us have to take time off work if we are having sign-on-delivery goods shipped to our house. Some of us just wouldn't rely on a box sitting on a our front door step for eight hours without catching the wrong kind of attention.

I'll be staying home on Thursday to wait for the UPS man too. I'm not even sure they would leave it on the porch anyway - I seem to remember it saying "signature required" somewhere during the ordering process. And they would only ship it to the billing address, so I can't have it sent to work. If it comes early enough, I can still go in to the office. And I definitely prefer waiting at home to going down and standing in line at an Apple or AT&T store for who knows how long.

Dude, it's their money. Should I be allowed to tell you how to spend yours? Do you know these people at all? Maybe some of the stuff you consider important would be "pathetic" to others. That's fine that you don't think the iPhone is that important or whatever.

Even if it's not that important, it's still pretty messed up that a contract can be broken in a case like this without any consequences for Apple. In a typical contract lawsuit, if one party makes a material breach of the contract in the way Apple did (approved an order and placed authorizations), they would be forced to supply replacement goods or compensate the party in some way. In other words, the breaching party would have to make the non-breaching party whole again. If this were between private individuals, it would have a totally different outcome. I don't exactly know why it works differently for Apple because I don't deal with contract law (I thought environmental law would be more fun), but it's a slap in the face to consumers. It's about taking responsibility for one's promises and actions.

Re cancellations

I just checked my pre-order from Apple. Mine isn't cancelled, and the status has changed to 'prepared for shipment'. I will now continue to breath normally.

My order has disappeared from my bank account, but the order status on apple.com is still "Prepared for Shipment" with scheduled delivery on June 24th. I am hoping that I do not get a cancellation e-mail from Apple.

Has anybody else had their order disappear from your bank accounts?

I've now got a newly designed Xbox 360 arriving the same day. If my iPhone doesn't show up, I won't care. If it does show up, I'll set it up and then still not care.
