I just got my Macbook today and all I can say is, I think I'm in love. I've been supporting Macs for a few years (and PCs for 12 years) and this is the first Mac I've purchased. I don't know why I waited so long. It's unlikely that I would go back to using a PC. I think my favorite part so far aside from how fast it is may be the touchpad gestures. Makes everything so much easier!

Hey everyone, So i just uploaded some pictures of my MacBook
Let me know what you guys think

Thans :apple:

tbh, anyone whos sig says what his sig does probably shouldn't be listened to in the first place.

Congrats on the new pooter, they are lovely machines. Let me know if your thoughts concur with mine

lol, that guy seemed to shut up when it came to the info about his... prob. a 499 special at bestbuy, compaq or emachine. But really with the discounts a 799 or 899 macbook in the long run will be much better than a similiar speced PC (I would say in the 699-799 range). I know non power users that keep their anti virus up to date (60-70 per year) and then when they get a virus geeksquad or someplace else will eat up all that savings...

I used a PC until 3 years ago and I never had a virus, but I also did not let junk software pile up on my PC like some people... I help some older people with their computers and when they call me over their internet explorer has like 7 toolbars (you can only see the half screen of a website). And they have 20 things running in the background (helpers for printers, etc.)

I think osx is a much cleaner OS that a non power user could just use day to day and never notice a slow down like windows.

Oh and as for display profiles I just tried the JC display from the original thread and its amazing, very rich colors and the display is no longer yellowish!

Mine is horribly scratched up on the entire case and the bottom case is discolored, all I do is use it and ocationaly take it out and about,i have it in a thick laptop bag though and I even have a neopreme sleve it's in inside the bag,of and my hinges are screwed up from falling off my bed to the floor a foot away.I'm really disappointed and fear it will be dead within a year. The lid rubs really bad and now my wifi is as fast as it used to be when I got it.My first Intel Mac and I have tons of problems.

So you're disappointed in your Macbook because you slid your dusty/dirty Mac into a tight (and probably cheap) sleeve scratching it yourself (and likely causing the dye to rub off on the Mac), or are you surprised that when you sent it careening off your bed it was damaged?

Sounds like you should be disappointed in how careless you treat your possessions.

Truth spoken. This guy acts as if his Mac fell apart on his own, yet seems to me a lot of his own doing. People think weird these days....

To anyone that has upgraded RAM on their white unibody!

I've been wanting to upgrade my RAM on my white unibody. I was just wondering what kinda of RAM did you use and if you bought it from the web, where did you get it form? I've never done this kind of thing before and just wanna make sure i put the right stuff in. Been looking on the web for the new Macbook white unibody tutorials on replacing RAM but it's such a new computer i havent been able to find any lol

any help or advice would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Michael.

I ordered 4GB of ram for my new MB from Other World Computing, they have pretty good prices and even sell the 8GB kits that is unoficially supported in the new MB's.

Just received my refurb white macbook a couple of hours ago! Looks brand new! Now to begin the long process of transferring all my files and customizing my settings. :p

I'm going to be ordering some extra ram as well. I've never installed myself, but from what I understand, crucial has good prices and guarantees their memory for macs.

I find the moving all the files over one of the best bits of getting a new computer: its the moment when the computer becomes a proper tool for you individually!

Enjoy your new mac

Haha that's true.
Bro, i love the review, very nice, and true.
I really like how you went in detail with all the things about the MacBook.

also nice pictures...
so far the bottom on this isn't dirty YET, and hopefully it'll stay that way for sometime

I have to agree. I got my new MacBook last week, I had 185GB worth of stuff to transfer. While doing that I actually really learned about the Mac and OSX. Really, I couldnt be more thrilled with my new MB. Now if I can only find a flaw, lol.....

Oh, question. Can I make/use a custom icon for an app, and if so how would I add it so my new icon displays. I have these nifty MS OFFICE icons that are pretty but can't use them....

too bad you can't get a black keyboard on the macbook (can you?). That would be so sick.

Thank you! It is quite nice to weed through all of my old files, organize them a bit, and figure out what I need in terms of apps and customization. Even though I've been a Mac user for a year, I'm discovering all kinds of new stuff! And OS X makes the process so much more intuitive than windows.

How dare you say that! I'm seeing similar affects on my macbook. The screen doesn't even work anymore with out a extra monitor. If my macbook can't take an accidental shotgun blast to the screen, Apple has released an inferior product! :D

I'd get the software CandyBar, check it out, it's what i use for my dock icons.

That's my desktop, and if you can see, i changed the finder, and some other icons.

CandyBar is definitely worth it. (also my HDD Icon on my desktop, it's my laptop)

Thanks, i spent a fair bit of time on it so I hope that prospective buyers get some good use of it!

BTW, I checked out a couple of your vlog entries, they were really entertaining!

Oh Thanks a bunch!! I'm getting better :) (as people keep messaging me about it. lol)
I hope more viewers in the future, it's all thanks to this MacBook.

I need to upgrade the RAM and HDD soon!

I mean everything is fine, but i just need more RAM probably.

(Anyone tried playing games on this badboy?)

You could get this Meguiar's PlastX Clear Plastic Cleaner & Polish to remove the scratches. I recall that people were using it a few years ago to remove scratches from their iPods, so it'd probably work on a polycarbonate MacBook, but to be safe I'd test it first on an inconspicuous area.

First post here!

I bought my Poly MacBook yesterday, I love it! It's my first Mac, and as most people say it won't be my last.

I love how easy it is to use, the feeling of it in your hands is great, it took me a little while to get used to the keyboard but now I've fully settled!

I'm very pleased with it.
