I bought one 32gb hoping android gets ported to it. and bought a 16gb for my 5 y.o. nephew, if he breaks it oh well

So far so good... we'll see if I actually get it.

No email, but I checked the website and it says the product has shipped. I'm actually shocked, since I've always missed out on these deals (like the 20% off laptops using the Kindle with ads).

Nope, it says to call the 1-800 number. Looks like they sold out of them.

Alright, so me and my dad ordered 2 from B&N earlier last night. When I check the order status, it says "in processing: not yet shipped"

Is that the place I should be checking? Or was your error message emailed to you? Because our order is tied to my Dad's email and I guess I'd need to have him check... Maybe I'm lucky and my order will get fulfilled? :D

I think I just bought one, no idea if it'll go through, but if it does, does anyone know what these are like to type on, on a desk without a case?

Yeah, I received this email, also. But, I received a confirmation email 2 hours prior saying it was processed and is on schedule to ship the 26th.

I ordered from onSale through Amazon around 7:15pm, Aug 21. - My order status says shipping soon. When I click on the available actions tab, I get - This portion of your order is being prepared for shipment and cannot be canceled or changed.

I also ordered one from B&N 6:49am, Aug 22 - Shipping status says - In Process: Not Yet Shipped. Under quantity it says - 2 cannot be removed

Crossing my fingers!

I'm really enjoying the TouchPad overclocked to 1.7GHz along with the logging tweaks. It flies now! The multitasking and flash capabilities are a welcomed change compared to iOS. I think i'll enjoy this tablet for quite awhile :)

Apple 'owns' tablet supply chain, others can't compete
Apple has exclusive rights to the best technology when building the iPad

Apple is making it impossible for other tablet manufacturers to do business because it has exclusive rights to the latest and greatest technology breakthroughs. As a result, HP wasn't able to compete with Apple in the tablet market, according to a report.

Apple is accused of blocking other manufacturers from sourcing the best parts for their devices. A source "with knowledge of the matter" informed The Next Web that Apple's iPad hardware was better than the HP TouchPad's hardware because: "Apple has put a ton of work into building a supply chain and technological prowess that is second to none. This has made competing with it an incredibly difficult proposition."

For example, HP was unable to get a display for its TouchPad that was as good as Apple's iPad display, claims the report.

Apple has exclusive deals with hardware manufacturers because it has invested in these companies and the manufacturing processes. "It's a very real roadblock to other companies looking to source the most bleeding edge technology. Apple has almost unlimited access to it for months before it becomes available to others... denying them access to the tech that they need in order to make their products competitive."
