If you buy one of these, keep it by the toilet. That way you don't get any fecrons or farticles on your iPad.

Good one

Its a lazy Sunday so I'm going to experiment and hide my iPad for the day and go all TouchPad. I don't think i could go a whole week without the iPad but I just want to give WebOS a solid test drive.

They are still €400 - €500 + over here on the few online stores carrying them [$500-600]...

Picked a 32GB one on eBay from Canada including shipping for €200. Will be giving it to member as a present for just checking email and surfing the web. They already inherited by Pre2

after multiple delays all throughout the ordering process, i got a fatal error during the CC submission and i'm not about to chance trying another go for fear that i get a double order.

guess it wasn't meant to be. the TP would have made a passable movie player for in-the-house use...i would have loaded that up with all that free space (30gb!), but i guess i keep the $150 and spend it for an ipad3 or ipad4 instead.

maybe this means that i'll see more TPs in the wild in the months ahead. i've only seen one TP, the rest have been ipads or the nook color.

I didn't know anything about an HP "TouchPad" until the firesale.

The HP ecommerce server was overloaded.

Not true.

I spoke with an HP rep who said that they would absolutely not refund the difference and that it was up to the retailer to refund it.

They wouldn't even provide any documentation stating the new price so that I could take that to the store as "proof" so that they would price match.

No, you're incorrect. HP has issued a statement claiming retailers will be honoring and refunding the difference if you paid full price so it won't be a choice for them.

Made it though HPs business site and now have an order number and estimated ship date of the 23rd for a 32gb Touchpad at $150. Wasn't working yesterday, and was slow as molasses today, but every page eventually loaded.

Just picked mine up from Best Buy. I ordered last night at the full price for in-store pickup. Now I just have to resist opening it until I can talk to customer service to make sure they refund me to $99.99. Estimated wait time is greater than 20 minutes.

As far as I've seen from HP statements, they've only clarified that TouchPads bought directly from them (HP themselves) will be guaranteed a refund.

Folks who bought HP TouchPads from HP's website just need to call HP's Home & Office phone service (be ready to be on hold for about a half hour) and tell them you want a full refund or to be credited the difference. HP will honor either request, and in the case of the fire-sale difference, they will give you an additional $10 credit off of your sales tax.

Just picked up another 2 16GB versions via the hp small business site, but shipping isn't until the 26th. I wonder why there is a discrepancy in shipping times?

Did you have to pay a $33 shipping fee as well?

Where is this statement?

I was up all night last night arguing with the HP reps to try to either refund me themselves, or give me some proof to take to the retail store so that they would price match.

HP was very clear in stating that they have nothing to do with any of it, that it is up to the retailers to either refund me or not.

People who purchased as soon as it was available didnt get confirmations until liek 10am so you should be good.

As long as they charged your card and changed the status from "verifying order" to "order processing tracking available upon shipment" your good and 99.999999% guaranteed to get one.

When did you place the order? Any order placed should be good. I hear that there will be more available on monday once they sort through the 1st days orders and verify their stock.

yeah its ready for shipment now.. so happy still want one for myself now.

Free shipping on the 32GB version I believe. I finally got my order through after about 2 hours of HP's website crapping out on almost every page. Did not get an email confirmation but have been able to check order status through the HP website so I hope all is well.

I picked up a few of them. Will keep one for myself and give the others away.

The hardware - the feel, is maybe a C+ or B-. It's no iPad 2.

WebOS is pretty bad. I can see the potential, and maybe another year or two would have gotten it where it needs to be. Scrolling is jerky. Yes I updated to 3.0.2. The browser needs tabs. The "card" thing is cool but new cards for each page? Pass. I know there is a alternative browser for $1.99, I will try it.

It sounds like Android will be up and running on it shortly. It might end up being one of the better Android tablets available. Will see. $99 is a no brainer. The fact that they tried to sell this for $500+ seems criminal.

snagged a 16gb version. This thing is going to sit in the living room for surfing the web. :)

There are still some websites that have HP touchpad for 399 dollars. Will they change their prices to 99 dollars soon?

I'm typing this on my new 16GB TouchPad that I got from Best Buy this morning. I must say, I am actually pretty impressed. Now I just need to do some research and learn WebOS :D

The first thing everyone needs to do with their touchpad is install preware and install the logging patches (and the overclocking kernel if you desire). It makes an absolutely huge difference in the speed and fluidity of the tablet. The alternative tabbed browser is also a must.

At the very least, open your dialer, dial ##LOGS# and hit send, then change your logging options to minimal logging. Big speed boost from that alone.

People buying multiple touchpads....

eBay is going to be busy with Touchpads ;) if HP can't make a fast buck, it's reassuring to know that despite this capitalism is live in kicking for others still. :p

3.0.2 then Preware for sure, do this right away. FYI if you are doing preware on Lion you need to install the SDK. Easier to use a PC if you have one.

A tip for iPad owners looking for cases, give your old iPad Gen1 case a try. These have very similar dimensions so I was able to plop it into my old iPad 1 portfolio case.

ordered one through Amazon 16GB ot showed a higher price but the cart had it discounted. Amazon said it was in stock but I still nervous till they say it shipped. I had no intent on buying a pad at 500 but a a 100 I can't pass it up. android honeycomb port is in the works too. worse come to worse it will be a good browser and handy for showing photo's and video's.

Just ordered mine on amazon for $105 16gb. What apps does it have besides angry birds?

How hard is this to do? Is there a way to restore the touchpad if I mess it up?
