UES didn't get any in this morning. I don't know about later in the day. They had them for try-ons, though. Oddly they had no Single Tours for try-ons but had them in stock at opening. I got the penultimate one.

What group were you in? Were you in line before opening?

I got there around 9:05. There were about 6 people in front of me plus 4 in the vault when I got downstairs. I made it into the vault around 9:30. There was a woman with a puppy about 3 slots in front of me. Did you notice, or were you already gone?

Yes. I noticed. I lingered. I refused to even attempt to put it on until they brought me a shock pad.

I was arguably the tallest guy there. Black sweater. Glasses.

Now it's back to Florida to show it off to the peasants.

I wasn't paying too much attention so I don't know if I saw you. Anyway, were you in the first group in the vault? How many watches do you suppose they had in stock, seeing as I got the second to last one they had and was 3 or 4 behind the woman with the puppy. The 50ish woman had the black Single Tour but wanted the Double Tour, so I'm guessing someone else wound up with that one.

I'm curious if the store got any more in yesterday.

I was in the second group and was told I got the second and last 42mm fauve. Took them a bit to get it - very nerve wracking.

Incidentally I was holding it this morning and when I removed my thumb the area has noticeably darkened. This is going to take some getting used to!

Yes, bareve leather quickly develops a patina, particularly fauve (natural). Don't get it wet, and don't use oil-based cleaners. Just use a dry rub or microfiber cloth. Did you buy the Apple Care? If it gets too grungy over 2 years you can use of the repairs.

So it sounds like UES got about 12 watches, at least in the AM. I got the last 38mm fauve. The sales associate thought it was black at first, as that is what was showing up on his system. I wonder what it was like today (was there a similar line, etc.?).

A woman in the first group bought what she thought was a 42mm noir, but was fauve.

They didn't seem prepared. One employee told me they were briefed only moments before opening.

Switched out the band for a Sport Band in Stone and am liking the combination for everyday use.

That's interesting. With all the focus on improving the experience, I'd have thought they would have been briefed the night before or even earlier. After all, it follows the same protocols as the Edition. I did overhear one of the associates saying that she had no idea whether they would be getting additional shipments during the day since Apple didn't tell them anything.

I'd love to hear reports about 5th Ave. I bet it was a mad house.

I have always avoided 5th Avenue. Grand Central was my "go to" store in Manhattan. Since it wasn't an option for the Apple Watch Hermes, I figured UES would be better.

if i could somehow sell my space black apple watch I would be all over the Hermes edition AW, if not I will just wait until the second generation AW is released

That reminds me, but boy, trying on the watch at Hermes was sooooo much nicer than at the Apple store! The entire store is carpeted, it's so quiet, there was two or three other people trying on the watches so I had to wait a bit but nothing like the lines at Apple stores, the sales associate that helped me was very used to putting on watches on people, and even though we got to the store right at closing time, nobody was hurrying us out so they could close. It was what a luxury shopping experience should be, and it's what Apple was aiming for with the watch try-on and totally failed to achieve. Apple stores are simply too crowded and not set up to provide that kind of mood.

Imagine what it will be like at Target. ;-)

Sounds much nicer. Not that the Apple experience was that bad, it was just crowded. To my benefit, the rep knew a lot about the watch, didn't rush the process, and was able to answer all my questions. He knew the watch was pre-installed with watchOS2, that the item would be restocked but ultimately end production, and what Apple was responsible for and what is wasn't as far as the watch and band post-purchase care.

I think that's part of the reason Apple wants to have partnerships with stores like Hermes. They can offer a better experience because all they do is sell premium fashion products. They attract a different type of employee and pay commissions. Apple Store staff will likely always be dominated by a younger, more entry level crowd.

Is that normal?
Who knows what normal is on a product 29 hours old?

That seems pretty excessive. Barenia leather will absorb oil and be discolored by water. Avoid contact with both, and don't use oil-based leather cleaners or anything with alcohol. Maybe ask a Hermes store what they recommend. Are you sure it isn't just wet? Take it off and see if it dries.

It also should go without saying that if you expect to perspire a lot (summer, crowded train, etc.) consider swapping out another band. I'm going to keep my original Classic Band
