What's the stock / restock looking like for the Bay Area? Seems like we have 3 options to get one. Might take a look at the cuff

That seems pretty excessive. Barenia leather will absorb oil and be discolored by water. Avoid contact with both, and don't use oil-based leather cleaners or anything with alcohol. Maybe ask a Hermes store what they recommend. Are you sure it isn't just wet? Take it off and see if it dries.

That image was wet from sweat. It lightens as it dries, but is still darker than the surrounding areas. It also darkens from finger prints.

Here's how it's drying as I wait for my flight.

No problem. At least state upfront that you consider it normal behavior rather than the rhetorical "Who knows what normal is on a product 29 hours old?," which leads some forum members to think it's not normal.

I don't know that it is normal. I called Hermès Madison prior to departing, and they said - without seeing it mind you - that the level of wear I was experiencing was abnormal. However, that is without seeing it.

As for care, it comes with a piece of paper that informs you there is no general care for it.

After a few hours at 30,000 feet it should be fairly dry and I'll provide an after pic.

Rather than put in a sports band, I plan to run the watch into the ground. Attempt to get even discoloration throughout.

No sense putting in the box as Watch 2 is a year away. You have to enjoy your stuff.

That being said. This could be normal - in which case it's worth noting when the "scratch people" have panic attacks.

There's the possibility that the band will be compatible with the Watch 2, though, so if you take good care of the band, you might be able to use it with your next watch.

You have to own your things. You can't let them own you. Use them. Abuse them. Enjoy them.

On the plane now about to taxi. It's dried a bit. Some discoloration visible. I'd consider it normal use. Walking to the subway. Changing trains. Airport nonsense.

Doesn't bother me, but I'm sharing because I've read threads about people crying over scratches and this may bother them.

It's refreshing to hear someone on this board use the term "normal wear." Gorgeous band, enjoy it!

It's not just you, but I have to say... I am so sick of people mentioning this hypothetical "Apple Watch 2" in every thread, like it's immediately imminent, or as a way to disregard this generation.

Enjoy the hell out of these watches. For anyone thinking of getting one, if it's financially doable, go for it. "Apple Watch 3 rumors and Wish Lists will start the day after any "Watch 2" is even announced.

Don't mean to disregard this gen, or suggest that the next version is imminent. At the same time, there are many shortcomings with the watch as it is now. So I'm just looking forward to the next one while enjoying this gen for what it is.

Plus, it's been six months since the watch came out -- it's not like it just came out yesterday and I'm talking about the next one!

Fair enough... but out of curiosity what shortcomings do you see, that aren't software related/limited? Or that don't result in the Watch turning into something it wasn't meant to be - like a standalone, mini-phone?

I'd love it to be thinner/lighter. And this might get into mini-phone like territory, but I want the watch to have its own GPS. More storage for more music would be nice. And then there are all sorts of "software" improvements that could be enabled by faster/more powerful CPU. Perhaps more sensors -- like, what would it take for the watch to be able to take body temperature?

But in any case, as far as the Hermes band goes, I've had lesser quality leather watch bands last me around 5 years. So I would expect a Hermes band to last at least that long, if not longer. That is at least twice as long as I expect to keep any Apple watch, hence my hope that the band would be compatible with future watches.

I wouldn't be surprised if future "generations" got updates mentioned like when Williams showed this Hermès edition - short blurbs. Thinner? Likely. More storage? Almost a definite. As far as sensors, that's interesting. I had read that this current gen has sensors that are not "turned on" due to Apple's inability to secure 'medical device' accreditation. So who knows?

As for this Hermès, I say wear the hell out of it if you want one and can find it. Mine should be making its way to my wrist for occasional wear this weekend.

The sweat marks look normal to me. It's why I tend to use Hirsch James watch straps, with the rubber lining, when it's hot, or I gravitate towards Cordovan leather, which handles water nicely, (although it also does get a patina) because I can watch them easily.

Did anyone else here try to purchase one yesterday or today? I'm curious if they got more stock in.

I purchased yesterday at the South Coast Plaza store in CA. The rep said that they had decent stock of each style they received of the Single Tour and Double Tour. The Double Tour they had about three colors, not sure which, and there was a line of about 30 to 40. Each customer could purchase two maximum.

He added they would be restocked but did not give any time frame.

That looks horrible!
That image was when the band was wet.

That said, the band will develop a patina, since it is untreated leather. It's the same with an Hermes purse. The bands absorb oils, etc. so it is not recommended to use DIY leather cleaners, or alcohol or water-based cleaners.
