Is it just the picture or is the stitching getting bleed from the leather stain?
If you're the typical anal-retentive MR member, don't get the AW Hermes!

Let it dry naturally. Looks great. The darker areas are sweat. Water isn't a problem, but dirt and oil and whatever other toxins you sweat out can be.
Do you ever use glycerine saddle soap on untreated leather for the dirt and oil (I'd avoid anything with lye)? I wouldn't suggest doing so very often (you want it to develop a patina), but if it gets a bit of dirt on it, etc. is that an option?
However, I did not expect it to be quite so hard to get from some reports.
Feels like we may have a limited item here so that's starting to give me pause if we don't see a noticeable increase in supply towards the holiday.
Yes, I read those purse forums. I expected them to be fairly limited, since they are sold only in a few stores, but I didn't expect it to be quite so hard to get. Apple could have priced these at $2500 if they wanted to (and I do think they will eventually position something between $1500 and $10,000 - it's a wide enough range). I figured by pricing it where they did, it would be only a semi-"limited" edition.
I'd buy 2 of these bands if I could. But we can't!
I have a few limited edition watches. One had a $70 band I ran into the ground thinking it was a cheap replace - turns out they stopped production.
The sales associate at the UES told me that AppleCare+ covered accidental damage for the bands (Hermes handles that). Did you buy that? You have another 55 days to do so if you haven't already.
He told me that too. Beaded guy? Glasses? He was over at the table helping the older women get setup.
I called BS. How can they cover a strap for 3 years that might be out of production in 3 months?
Who defines "damage" on a product that was previously alive and is in fact a state of decay?
I would love to hear someone from Hermès reaction to having to replace the strap for a deductible every few months. LOL

The AW Hermes isn't so short-lived that it'll be out of production in three months. We've already established that the standard warranty and AC+ cover the bands should they become defective, and the AW Hermes is no exception. Nobody can simply replace the strap for a deductible. It has to be defective (e.g., the connector failing to lock in place, etc.) and it doesn't cover normal wear and tear.
I was told AC+ covers accidental damage. Like banging it, dropping it, etc.
Sure, but normal wear and tear isn't accidental damage. You'd have to run over the band with your car or something. AC+ also covers defects like the connectors failing to lock in place, etc.
I think I figured it out. They don't replace the band. They'll replace the whole package I bet.
If it's just the watch that's defective or damaged, they'll replace the watch body only and you transfer the existing band to it. That's how it's done with AW white box replacements.
If, however, you've flattened the whole thing with a steamroller they'll of course replace the whole package. It'd be exceedingly rare that you'd damage the band without damaging the watch itself.
But they have a stack of SS and sport cases and all the bands. They don't got the Hermès case and band. They're bundled. I bet that's why the AC+ is more money - I bet you get a whole new bundle.
No, I don't think so. If it's just the watch that's defective or damaged, they'll send you a Hermes watch body white box replacement. AC+ is more because of the longer warranty.
Then you assume there's a box of Hermès watch cases sitting in Cupertino? I don't know what I do.
Where are they assembled? If China, I bet the only Hermès in the US are already bundled.
There's nothing really special about the AW Hermes. All AWs are made in China, even the $10,000-17,000 versions.
They ARE being sold at Apple Stores, but only at a select few.

Scroll down to the bottom for sales locations.
Ahhhhh, thank you. I had missed that.
So what's a girl to do who lives in rural NW Pennsylvania, no where near ANY of the locations?!! Can they (or will they be able to) be ordered online?
I understand that it's made in China, but what I'm wondering is - is the band attached in China or in the US?
Because if the band is shipped from France to China, and it's assembled and boxed in China, I do not think any cases are making it across the Pacific without the band.
In the past when I've gone to my Apple Store for a recall on my phone (such as the camera) no repair was performed. They took my phone, wiped it, and handed me a brand new phone, box, headset, charger, etc.
So you're saying if I file a claim on a SS steel watch they'll just hand me a case in a plastic bag? Interesting if so.
But I still maintain that if your Hermès or Edition go in, you'll get a whole new package. I do not believe these cases, or these bands, exist in the United States independent of one another. I do not believe there are plastic containers with loose cases and loose bands in the United States. I think there are just boxed, ready to sell versions.
