Is it worth it?

Making the AW Hermes body requires no contribution from Hermes so it's conceivable that Apple will have watch body only white box replacements for the Hermes models. Replacement bands are handled through Hermes and it remains to be seen whether they're loose bands, or a total replacement as you claim.

When I called Hermès on Madison Ave they told me that unless I purchased it in their store that I should direct all inquiries to Apple.

Let's get back to the original topic. We need more YES votes. Stop thinking about this as a tech product. Think about it as an Hermes product that happens to be high tech. A quartz Hermes watch goes for $3000. An Hermes handbag goes for about $9,000 and a (Grace) Kelly or Birkin handbag has a months-long waiting list.

I don't think is the right crowd. The right crowd was definitely at the store on Madison we went to, but they're not here.

I've seen posts in this thread encouraging me not to wear it. To keep it in the box 'just in case'. There are other threads worrying about scratches to the stainless steel, peeling on the sport band, etc.

In short - this is a miserable lot who I sometimes worry get no enjoyment out of life.

Please, please, please, do not buy this unless you can get 10 of them - so you can actually enjoy it.

Nope. You gotta get to civilization.

I flew 2+ hours from Jacksonville to New York. Then AirTrain, subways, and walking.

Earn it. EARN IT.

LOL! :) Well, cleeeeeeeearly I am not THAT motivated. I might have been, pre-SS/ML AW... but not right now. I do love yours, though!!!

THANKS for the reply!

I don't have one but I did vote YES! If I didn't already have my SS/ML I would be sooooooooooorely tempted, I assure you!!!

If I got one, I'd wear that baby everyday and enjoy every minute of it. The little marks, scratches, and developing patina on the leather band would delight and fascinate me!

As far as bands are concerned, I'm not sure what they told you at the store, but you can order 15 colors of sport band on the Apple website with the steel pin.
Not sure what you mean. You can indeed buy the midnight blue sport band separately for your silver Sport and it'll have the silver pin.

I missed that. But it's a polished stainless steel pin. Doesn't match the annodized aluminum finish. And none of the separate bands come in gold or rose gold, annodized or 18Kt. And only the black band comes in Space Black, which is not annodized Space Gray either. And none of the other bands come in any annodized finish, and few come in 18kt gold. Really, the only watches Apple fully supports for multiple matching bands are the silver stainless steel Watch models.

I understand that it's made in China, but what I'm wondering is - is the band attached in China or in the US?

Because if the band is shipped from France to China, and it's assembled and boxed in China, I do not think any cases are making it across the Pacific without the band.

In the past when I've gone to my Apple Store for a recall on my phone (such as the camera) no repair was performed. They took my phone, wiped it, and handed me a brand new phone, box, headset, charger, etc.

So you're saying if I file a claim on a SS steel watch they'll just hand me a case in a plastic bag? Interesting if so.

But I still maintain that if your Hermès or Edition go in, you'll get a whole new package. I do not believe these cases, or these bands, exist in the United States independent of one another. I do not believe there are plastic containers with loose cases and loose bands in the United States. I think there are just boxed, ready to sell versions.

Yep, if you return your stainless steel Watch with an issue, you keep your band and they hand you a box with just a watch body, from what I've read. I don't believe they "explode" (separate) the band and case on site.

Yeah, I'm imagining they think steel makes the most since, since it's the most neutral of the colors.

Overall, I count around 50 straps that are available a la cart.

No, all Sport bands (even those that come bundled with the Sport watches) have the pin in stainless steel and it's not really polished like the SS case. The inner side is circular brushed. It's sort of a in-between finish that looks good with both Sport and SS cases and hence less work/SKUs for Apple.

This is true, except for the fact that they changed what they call the black band with the dark pin from "Black Band with Space Gray Stainless Steel Pin" to "Black Band with Space Black Steel Pin" despite being modeled on a Space Gray Sport. Presumably as this same band is also one of two stock bands with the Space Black models. It seems to be in name only.

Even the sport bands that come bundled with the AW Sport are stainless steel. There are no straps with anodised pins.

EDIT: ^ Beat me to it.

But back to my original point, with all those combinations, and all the case offerings, what happens when the gen 2 watch comes out, which uses the exact same shaped watch lugs as the previous watch, but comes in a new gorgeous rose gold case finish that a customer wants. But they have a stainless Watch with multiple stainless lug bands. Do they forfeit their old bands in order to upgrade to the new color finish they want, and buy all new bands to match it? Or do they wear their old bands for a two-toned effect? Most people I know who care about such things and have this kind of disposable income will simply replace the bands to match the new watch.

Now transplant this onto changing the case lug design. Most of the extra bands people will likely need to replace are going to be the Sport bands anyway, which are equivalent to iPhone cases at $50, something people have no problems replacing from year to year. For the more expensive bands, anything that attaches to a bar, will likely be easily replaced with a third party kit, as we have seen lugs are now separately available for $10 a piece. So that really only leaves the leather loop, the Milanese and the link band, which are likely going to be the bands that sell the least anyway. But again, I see some clever Kickstarter coming up with an adapter for the old lugs to the new watch case. I don't know how the lugs attach to the link bands or Milanese, but if they can be easily removed, then there's a whole sub industry in adapting the straps -- those shops that fix broken iPhones will likely start replacing watch crystals and could easily getting into lug upgrades.

So what are the rose gold and yellow gold pins on the Sport bands? Stainless plated?

Yes, they send the watch body itself. I had an issue with my original watch and they had to send it in. It came back in a little white box. I kept my band.

I didn't pay close attention when I was trying on watches last week, but I thought it was a matching color.

Does anyone else know for sure? I wonder why each website is showing a different color?

Someone will have to chime in, but it's quite possible that the etain with the white stitching is a pre-production model. The pre-production 38mm rose gold Edition with the rose gray modern buckle actually had a white crown, as opposed to the black crown that the production models have.

And a different watch face.

I do see two different font styles on Apple's site. Can someone with an AW Hermes clarify whether you have different font options on the Hermes watch face?

Yes. There are three. Each inspired by a traditional Hermès face.

You can also set it to have 12, 4, or 1 numbers. And you can also customize one complication. Default is the day of the month.
