Yeah, 38 mm Barenia went out 2 weeks ago here in USA.

But, yeah, you guys are not getting anymore 42mm Barenia single tour. So, the supplies are LIMITED for sure. 1-3 weeks shipping means that the supply is extremely low and has to come from other regions.

They're handmade in France and sent to China for assembly with the watch.

You should be aware of Chinese New Year that's ongoing right now and causes an almost total production shutdown of nearly two weeks and knock on logisitical delays probably affecting over a week or two at one side or the other, so nearly a month.

If they didn't get here from France in time there'd be nobody to put them in the boxes, for example.

On the other hand, with the expected March event they could be discontinued.

Good points. Partnership probably over. I hope Hermes will continue partnership. But given its history of collaborating, hermes stuff are limited time only.

Oh well I still love my classic buckle saddle brown. I will keep close eye on eBay for a good deal.

It's an interesting idea. Rest the partnership and then when Apple Watch 2 comes in September, tell the world "Hermès were so excited about this watch we decided to rekindle the partnership". Something like that.

Or Apple could rotate through different partners one at a time. I'm not sure who else they could go for, but they probably have some ideas.

Or like I say, perhaps just some of the hermès bands will be retired for other ones as the "seasons" change

I use the photos face sometimes.
Yeah, I've discovered that I'm a fan of smart complications, a (THE?) key benefit to wearing a smartwatch. Hermès face isn't used often on mine; wife doesn't mind swiping for Glances, though, so hers stays put.

Yeah i think that you guys are underestimating the intelligence/financial mind of the wealthy. Sure, there are the Paris Hilton types...but the smarter wealthy folks are the majority.

I think you are underestimating how much wealth the wealthy have. For them, spending $17k is like you and me spending $170, or even $17. They don't hesitate to spend that much on something that lasts only a year, or even worn just once, and they aren't being financially irresponsible by spending money that way.

How do you think the wealthy get wealthy? From pissing away money? From buying stuff that they throw away next year? (Again, i am NOT talking about the morons such as Kim Kadashian or Paris Hilton or son of China's leader.) I am talking about the wealthy that you see still working hard at their profession.

I am not even sure why I am bothering, but the wealthy you are talking about are much different then the wealthy that we are talking about. The ones that you are talking about that still work at their profession are not buying $17,000 Apple Watches. They did not get to be wealthy by purchasing items that depreciate in a year. If you read or look at any of their blog or videos on YouTube, they talk about investing in things. They say buying super cars and luxury items that won't hold their value is not the way to get wealthy. Sure $17,000 would be nothing for them, but they see no return on investment in that item.

The purple we are talking about are people that are no longer working for their money, or have so much money they don't know what to do with it. People like athletes or movie stars. These guys do buy $17,000 Apple watches because they look cool. They don't care that it won't be worth $1000 in 2 years. They just got the most expensive watch Apple has and they want everyone to know it.

I would think Hermès approached Apple. I would think Apple is a more well known name across the world. Hermès is great at their craft, but being matched with AW really gets their name out there.

No, Jony Ive already stated Apple approached Hermes, at a lunch just before the original announcement 16 months ago.

I expect Apple to discontinue the Edition model and the Hermes model both at the March event where they introduce the Gen 2 Watch. These models are exclusive and will only be sold with the very latest watch case, even though I fully expect Apple to continue selling at least the gen 1 Sport watch for $100 less following the iPhone business model.

Frankly I'm surprised that the Edition is still being sold this far out considering Time Cook explicitly stated the Edition was going to be sold in very limited quantities. The fact Apple didn't "sell out" after the holidays really taints the image of that model. It's pretty clear to me they started selling the Hermes model online, because they want to move old inventory before they update it. The good news is that there's absolutely no difference between the basic stainless hardware and the Hermes in terms of recycling unsold product.

People who have to work hard to save up $17,000 usually don't buy the Edition. Yes, a $17,000 Rolex that'll last a lifetime but certainly not the Edition that'll be outdated in a few short years as that's considered a poor buy by such individuals. In other words, you're thinking about the wrong crowd. We're talking about individuals who go on $30,000 shopping spree on a lazy weekday and think nothing of it.

Sorry, I think you are wrong. watchOS 2.2 is hopefully ready for release next week (TestFlight ha been updated to support both watchOS 2.2 an iOS 9. After watchOS we have watchOS 2.3 and perhaps after that we might think of watchOS 3. IMHO that means that Apple Watch 2 and watchOS 3 release is not before summer or on WWDC next June. Rumors also say that on March 15th Apple are releasing more Hermès band colors...

I know rumors don't have new watches for the event, but I had not heard new Hermès. Are they saying new Hermès with watch, or will be actually get bands by themselves too?

New colors for Hermès band, new colors for Sport band and NATO/ZULU like straps, might be from some funky materials ;)

Some people from Hermès told me that ta the end of the year also replacement straps will be available...

But again these are all rumors :D

EDIT: add also a black Milanese, which popped up already a couple of weeks ago on the Czech Apple Store site (by mistake of course)

I had heard about the nato straps, but not the other. That would be amazing. I would for sure look into Hermès straps. I am not going to buy a whole new watch just for the strap, but if I could get a strap only I may be able to justify it.

While I don't disagree that Gen 2 won't be released later than March (but it will be this year), if the rumored March 15 event only announces new watch bands, an entry level 4" phone, and Maybe a processor upgraded Mac, then Apple can watch its stock prices plummet.

That said, I don't think the fact that Apple is only just releasing watch OS 2.2 suggests anything as far as a new hardware release, especially if Apple continues to sell the gen 1 watch alongside the new model. Watch OS 1.0 only had one update before watch 2.0 came out. And yet the watch hardware wasn't updated with the software. Watch 2.0 has likewise only had one update before 2.2. And this wouldn't be the first Apple product designed for a future OS release to be introduced with an old OS, which continued to be updated even as a new version was introduced. While many Apple products meet this criteria, one needs look no further then the introduction of the original iPad.

In fact using your path, it would follow pretty similarly -- watch OS 2.2 comes out next week, then a month from now watch OS 2.2.1 comes out as Gen 2 watch is announced, then in April the gen 2 watch is released with watch OS 2.3, with watch OS 3 coming out in September, just like last year.

Well, what's the point of being wealthy if you don't spend money? And maybe the people who buy the gold Apple Watch are more the Kim kadashian types, but to get back to the original point that led to this discussion, do you think Kim kadashian will start a class action suit when her watch stops getting software updates?

Boy that would be freaking great! Barenia color is all i want...classic Hermes color (along with noir/black box leather).

BUT, i am not holding my breath. I don't believe that Hermes has sold their bands for individual sales...ever. How do they keep up with demand, esp. if the rumor now says new colors! That is a lot of leather artisan they need to hire! And each one has to work hours like those workers at FoxConn!

I sure hope that your rumors are right! :)

don't expect Hermès straps to be sold separately (for the moment) Recently I saw some genuine ones on eBay :)

Don't know...class action suits have been started by all types of folks. Remember, those celebs who got hacked via phishing sued GOOGLE in a class-action lawsuit (i think or suit of some kind) because Google left the links to nude pics on the web for a few days instead of instantly deleting it. Do you think that these uber rich celebs wanted money from Google?

Yeah I been thinking of pulling the trigger. Though none seem to come eight the clasp on them. I would want to original clasp too.

Again, no Hermès bands sans watch.

Owing the Hermès Edition Single Tour I ask myself if I would be more or less happy with the watch band if there was no Hermès print on it ;)

Where are you guys seeing genuine Hermes band on ebay?????

I see Hermes band that are NOT ready made. I see Hermes band that are for smaller female watches that they sell.

I do NOT see any for Apple Watch.

What don't you just buy the Hermès Edition watch ? IMHO the Hermès strap only makes sense when you also have the Hermès clock faces :)
