I actually live/work in Germany as well; calling and speaking to reps at various stores in Paris that will be carrying them (wife and I will be there for a bit next month, and she wants one). There's a waiting list at a couple of shops/boutiques - not sure if that was arbitrary or out of necessity.

Schönes Wochenende! :)

My German isn't so strong... if that's about having a nice weekend, you too!

It is and thank you. I have a friend of a friend working at a Hermès (or is that an Hermès?) store but he has holiday right now and I am not sure if he completely knew what he was talking about. He said from about 250€ for the strap and 75€ extra for fitting. But that sounds like any watch strap.

Just called the Hermes in Los Angeles and they will not be taking reservations. Watches will be sold first-come, first-serve Oct. 5.

Did they give any indication of how many they will have? I wonder how popular this will be, and whether the Apple Stores will have more inventory. In NYC the UES and SoHo Apple Stores open an hour before Hermes.

Unfortunately I forgot to ask. Have to decide where to line up, but I would guess that Apple stores would have more inventory since they should be in charge of shipping / inventory.

So that indicates the straps may be sold separately. Interesting. 75 extra for fitting is a joke though.

1. No, at least not initially
2. No
3. I believe the participating shops will have them the first week of October
4. Depends on the location, and how many they made for this run. There seems to be (understandably) a great deal of interest at the Paris locations.

Talked to an Apple rep a week ago who said the bands would be available separately

I saw a "regular" double-tour Hermes watch the other day. The strap is very thin and definitely feminine looking. I haven't seen a single-tour (nor have I seen the Apple Watch Hermes in person, either). I wonder how the strap itself will look on the 38mm vs. the 42mm. It's hard to tell from website images.

I hope it is not skinny as well. If that is the case, then it will be not a good purchase in my perspective

Guys are allowed to wear the 38mm.

There are many 38mm watches I would wear. With a Patek I might even go smaller.

But generally when the same watch is made in both a 42 and a 38 the 38 is indeed the ladies model. And the double tour band is definitely a ladies model.

Some would argue that these are all ladies models.
