Are you referring to my picture? I never said everyone should judge their iPad screen to the highest display standard or go over it with a magnifying glass. Is it irrational to be sufficiently satisfied with the screen of the device you just plucked down a lot of money for? And you are 100% right that there no such a thing as a perfect LCD but it doesn't mean that some are not better than others. And when do you need white screen uniformity? How about when you browse the web?...
It's not a matter of need, but it's not unreasonable to expect the quality you have been promised.
I'm happy with the last iPad Air 2 I've received and why wouldn't I expect to be?

and what is the reason for that other than an attitude? note10.1 was probably the best tablet Samsung had and the tablet is still great after two years... their Note serie has been popular since the first one and still doing well.

Different taste, as I said. For me Samsung and great product in the same sentence is a non sense.

I gave up on the Air 1 for yellow blotchiness, bookspine and half a yellow screen, hoped the Air 2 would have sorted the issue.

I'm not sure, maybe until Apple goes down the OLED route, that we may see better results, the problem is widespread, i have been monitoring forums and inspecting ipads all last year at stores or othe people's, just that most people don't notice, my cousins retina mini had an obvious yellow bottom half and he never noticed so i didnt tell him.

I think when time after time Apple tell us how "meticulously crafted" and "with an unparalleled fit and finish" and "the best display you have ever seen" etc etc, we can justifiably be hacked off when the screen is half yellow etc.

Apple raise our expectations, so they have to deliver.

I'm pretty meticulous about nitpicking finding problems with iPads and screens. To me, my iPad Air 2 (arrived on Friday of last week), seems perfect. Maybe it's a bit warm on the color scale but that seems to be Apple's MO.

My iPad Air 2 is perfect. Bought at Best Buy. So was my Ipad Air. Bought at Best Buy. I had a nightmare with the 3 screen bought from Apple. Returned it to Apple for a refund. Waited two months and bought a new one from Best Buy. Perfect. rMini purchased from Best Buy is perfect too.

I have no particular connection to Best Buy.

My theory

One day I inadvertently put my Macbook Pro's screen in the path of hot air from the heater. I couple of minutes later I noticed that the screen became dull/yellowish in one area. It took me a few moments to realize it was heat to blame. When it cooled off, it restored its brightness/whiteness. So, given that this problem with screen being dimmer/yellowish on the left side - where the CPU is under the screen - has been forever, I think it's the poor thermal insulation between CPU and the screen to blame. With time, the constant heat just bakes in this dimness.

Just a theory.

I also purchased Air 2 at Best Buy and the screen was perfect.

Isn't the cpu on the right hand side?

are you a stockholder trying to get some profit or why an earth are you defending a company?? naming people is childish...

Companies need defending from the nonsense sometimes.

The Air 2 and the iPhone 6 are the two best portable devices in the history of consumer electronics, and they were released in the same month. Truly amazing. Those who can't appreciate this deserve a Samsung.

Picked up my Air 2 ( pre ordered ) and Had it side by side to my Air and I have to say My Orig Air is nicer.. JMO .. Plus when I went to clean the new Air 2 screen it didnt clean as well as the Air .. Being the laminated screen.. Compared side by side.. After one week of playing around with it .. I returned it yesterday and have no regrets.. Still loving my Orig Air and battery life.. So once in a while safari quits... Im cool with that and not spending 900 on a new Air 2 .. JMO

My Air 2 screen is fine. I did go over it carefully when I began reading the posts.
Not so keen on the battery life.....

Bought the wife an Air2. I'm satified with my Air, that replaced my original ipad. The wife had an ipad2 that she gave to her mother so we can do facetime. Were any of them Perfect? I doubt it, but we don't put them under that much scrutiny and honestly, we ... don't ... care. Life's too short to nitpick.

Depends on where you looking from.

If you're looking on screen, it's on the left side.

Fourth Time Almost a Charm

Brought the third Air 2 back to BB after each replacement was actually worse than the last with book spine expecially bad. This time they tried to convince me that all fo them have this, but I insisted I wanted to try one last time before giving up and getting a refund. This last 128GB Space Grey is best so far. Only slight book spine but with a bit of a shadow ion the bottom of the screen that is more or less visible by viewing angle.

I will keep it.

Now on to the iPhone 6 Plus, which has a bright bottom and dimmer top.

I understand why so many others find us a bit crazy about this uniformity thing. for those of us who can't unsee these flaws, it does feel like a diminished experience every time we light the things up and our eyes can't help but veer to the flawed areas of the screen. But I also know from having had many many LCDs from many manufacturers that there are acceptable screens out there and some manufacturers that have better consistency that Apple in delivering them.

Nope. On that image, the top right of the device is where the blue pry tool is, you can see the volume buttons beneath that. That means the cpu is on the right hand side.

My first iPad air 2 screen had several specks of metal filings. My second iPad Air 2 screen is perfect. Probably the best iPad screen I've ever owned.

The screen on my Cellular 128GB iPad Air 2 is flawless. I'm loving the nice cool blue tone that it has. :)
