Here again.... People returning eight devices for nothing.
I'd really wish Apple to "ban" customers after a few returns (maybe 3/4).
Who is paying the cost of unreasonable customers? We are

A ban from purchasing a product? Hmm OK. I've been lucky with iPhones. Since the first iPhone I've had perfectly acceptable screens. No complaints.

iPads not so lucky. It took me four or five to get an iPad 3 that had what I'd consider a screen that was acceptable.

Should I return it? What do you guys think? The next apple store is two hours away.

As soon as I got it I felt like the screen has a darker line on the left side. Basically going as far as the "iPa" of the ipad logo in the status bar. I thought maybe I am just seeing things but I just run this "test" and it seems to spread further than I initially thought

A little off topic but I saw the new iPad Air 2 for the first time a few days ago. I have version 1 and am sticking with it but the new one looks to have a far superior screen. Just wondering if owners of Air 2 are seeing a big difference in every day use for things such as e-reading. Apple stores tend to be the perfect setting for displaying these devices.

Mine is the same! I also compared my iPad to the display units in the store and mine was yellower (warmer) then most of the displays which were cooler. I have a genius bar appointment tomorrow.

Please let me know how it goes and if they exchanged it

Had two perfect Air 2 screens. First one, the speakers died. Second one, left channel audio died. Third Air 2, screen is not so great. Book spine, blotchy, and pink hue. At least I have sound this time!

Nope. A ban for keep returning working units...

I can not believe I actually got a perfect iPad air 2 , first try! I have had issues with most of my iPads and iPhones.....mostly problems with screen uniformity!

My number Six iPad is the best this one a keeper
each one I had stuck pixels and horrible light bleed

This one I just purchased today from the Apple store is perfect no light bleed no stuck/dead pixels.:D:D:D
LOL, I made the Apple staff to check my iPad for any defects.
Anyone not getting perfect screens just don't give up.

I would keep it.
or do you want to play the iPad screen lottery.
Took me five iPads without any screen defects.

Just got an iPad Air 2 last night, 64GB Wifi. I also currently have an Air, iPad 2 and Retina/3.

Screen seems good to me. Compared directly to the Air 1, the Air 1 is noticeably more yellow. I normally prefer a warmer screen, as I assume it's closer to D6500. I guess I could break out my colorimeter! The Air 2 doesn't look blue, just a more even white. Maybe something having to do with the purple tint of the new anti-reflective screen?

I notice no dead pixels. Uniformity seems good. There is a slight fall off of brightness on all 4 edges, maybe 1/4". Personally, I have yet to see an LCD tablet that does not exhibit this to some degree.

My iPad Air 2 is ten days old. I'm not a picky guy at all, but wondering if this is normal? Please focus on the two shades of color in the bookmark pane. This happens most but not all of the time. It only happens in landscape. In portrait the entire pane is a nice consistent gray.

I have a Genius appointment today to discuss it. I'll feel like a fool if it's just something I'm doing like a setting.

Thanks in advance for any advice.

Oh no. I would definitely not settle at all. They should swap it out. That's completely unacceptable. It's one thing to be blue or yellow tinted all the way around, this is massively noticeable. Good luck.

I believe that is your background wallpaper that shows transparency in Safari . Change your background wallpaper and you will see the difference. Use a plain background .

Thank you both. Here's another screenshot which shows a consistent gray shading yet I made no setting changes. I think I'll keep my Genius appointment just to get their advice. The Mall of America Apple Store is < fifteen minutes away including parking so it's pretty convenient.

I added a second shot to demonstrate the shading changed as I was typing that reply.

Do you still feel this is a background setting issue? I am open to suggestions.

My iPad does the exact same thing and believe me and read past posts of mine I am anal about screens. There is nothing wrong with your screen. Try opening other apps and web browser such as Chrome , if you don't see it replicate in other apps then it's not your screen.

The safari webpage is transparent when you open bookmarked tab. It depends what is on the background shows differents shades!

Fair enough. I'm not fussy and as long as nothing is wrong I'm happy. Thanks for the help.

Do this, pinch and zoom in and out this macrumors page while your bookmark tab is open just like your photos. Now you can see how your bookmark column has changed different shades.
