I got mine 2 years now it's a 2,0 Ghz intel core 2 duo and i upgraded it with 4gb of RAM to run OS X Lion smoother and a new 750gb HDD instead of the very small original 125gb HDD.
But now i'm looking out for a macbook pro 15" i7 but they all are pretty expansive so i'll wait for the new one to wait for the prices to drop :D

I still use my Blackbook, which I got in early '07, every day at home and at work. It's got 3GB of RAM (max for this model) and runs lion fine. It's my main work machine. I do, however, want to replace it once the MBPs are refreshed. My professional needs are really outgrowing this laptop. However, for typical web browsing/email/etc, it's more than adequate.

I'm tempted to install an SSD and just keep using it, however, the 3GB RAM limit and old processor are starting to really kill me now.

I have always loved the Black Macbook, have a soft spot in my heart for it!

I currently have the limited run Aluminium MacBook, and I love it too! Has been a great machine and right now have 8GB of RAM in this puppy. Love to get an SSD for it too. I mainly use the machine for classes though, as I have a desktop.

#curious Would anyone be interested in a trade, my mint alum macbook for your mint blackbook? Would be looking for a C2D and 4GB RAM.

BlackBook

6GB RAM, 1gb Samsung HD, Airdrop capable Airport card + Lion = Life is good :)

I've already said it in another thread, but my BlackBook is my favourite *ever* laptop - and I've owned some pretty high end stuff in my time....

Peeps on this thread were talking about their MacBooks not working... I will buy them... I have a black macbook 2.0GHz Core 2 Duo, 4GB RAM, 320GB Hdd... would love one with a bit more power... But it's a great little machine... Bought a macbook alu but didn't like it as much as this one... Only problem is my battery health is 53% so it only lasts about 1h30 at the most...

I was wondering... is it possible to port a backlit keyboard to one of these? It would look ultra sexy!!

just got a black macbook 2 days ago its my first mac ever and i love it ! its a late 2008 edition & runs great. I paid $550 for it which seems to be a decent price. Im having trouble finding a case for it tho :/ any help on that?

It is very hard but at least one person has done it. It involves taking apart a Rev. A/B/C Macbook Air's keyboard for the backlight film, LEDs, and keys. Then separating the Macbook's plastic palmrest from the metal backing. This is the really hard part because the two where never made to come apart. They are held together with very sticky glue and lots of plastic rivets. Then you have to put in the Air's backlight film, find a place to power the LEDs from, and put it all back together. Once it's back in one piece, you put on the Air's keys and turn it on. If all goes well, the keyboard will light up when ever the machine is powered one there is no keyboard brightness control as the Macbook doesn't have the controller for it.

That's a good price. Though, I got mine on eBay for 360, and mine's from 2009! Where did you get yours?

Specs:

Late 2006
2.00 GHz C2D

i found it on craigslist, i met up with the guy and he taught me a little about the computer. its runs fast and has some upgrades i still have to learn about being i literally have no clue about MacBooks or any apple computer for that matter. the exterior is immaculate too. pretty happy with my purchase and look forward to learning more. but wow 360 is a great price !!!! there was one on craigslist for $375 but i was skeptical, so i went with this one lol

Awesome! Mine runs spectacularly, and the top case is excellent! Hardly any scratches at all! Good luck learning Mac!

I have always wanted a black one... they were prettier and even though the case was pretty crappy (so flimsy as the white one) I liked it more because it was more elegant and you were able to see the Apple logo more clearly.

And I was thinking to buy a brand new black housing for my MacBook, but it was just to messy to do all the dissasembly and everything. I wish they still made it.

Blackbook

Hello!

Well today I just joined the Blackbook club!

I was able to get this baby for $290.

Late 2006 C2D 2.00Ghz

2GB

Mac OS Lion

The seller just had the palm rest and LCD cover replaced by the Apple Store. I mean the thing looks pretty damn new. I want to put a ssd in there now. Do you guys have any suggestions for 1.5 Gb ssd? Should I go with a Sata 2 or 3?

I hope this doesn't require me to take out the SuperDrive and I can just do a direct swap with the original harddrive.

Thanks!

How in the world did you get your MB to run OS X Lion?? It shouldn't be compatible. But to answer your question. I think that it should be able to able to go into the HD slot just fine.

The models not able to run Lion are the early 2006 and earlier models of the macbook. I'll try to post pictures when I can.

I'm in limbo between a 80GB SSD or a 128SD. I was planning to move over my VM's to the laptop for work.

I have an early 2006 CD 2.0 Blackbook and I dont think I could ever get rid of it. I thought about upgrading to a MBA, but I can't find a fault with the blackbook for what I use it for. I've upgraded everything that could be done. New 802.11n airport, 120gb SSD and a 320gb 5200 HD, max ram, new screen, new keyboard last week. My friends are amazed that I have a 6 year old laptop that works just like when I bought it.

EDIT: Holy crap I didn't know apple would replace the top case for free. Time to take my wife's macbook in!

Hello to all, i have the black macbook of my signature and it still going strong and love it.

Sorry for my english, i am greek and they arent so well i think

2.4 Black MacBook since new!

I am typing on a 2.4 Black MacBook now. Considered getting a pro, but I am now shopping 4GB of ram and possibly a SSD too.Less than $200 vs $1200 or more. I simply do internet browsing and word processing so this more than meets my needs.

I'm still rocking a 2008 white macbook 2.4/4/160 for DJ and music production use.

I'm tempted to upgrade the HDD to an 256 SSD, to stave off my lust for a '12 MBA...

Would love to up the ram to 6gb, but with 4gb 667 ram being rather expensive per GB (especially when I'm only using 2 of the 4), I'll pass.

Late 07 BlackBook here, 2.2 Core 2 Duo with upgraded 4 gigs of RAM. Just replaced the screen and the battery last week. Its a great computer. Biggest downside is Im still on 10.5.8, what OS could I upgrade too (thats still available)?

You can upgrade your blackbook to Lion.
