Happy 16 MBP user, I bought it AUD$800 cheaper than RRP. So, nothing to regret xD.

However, one of my key is not working properly if the MBP is too hot. It somehow sticks to the base I think.

If I could get a replacement, I will take it xD.

Kaby Lake has like no performance improvements over Skylake. I'd imagine you might get up to another hour of battery so that part is obviously sucky.

for the 4k video, i think netflix won't play 4k unless you are on kaby lake. your screen isn't 4k, i didn't order 4k netflix, so it's like meh to me.

Definitely don't feel that way. Bought at launch so already have 7+ months on it. I would only be slightly ticked if it came with a better gpu but the 560 is basically the 460 so I don't really care.

One longshot factor here that will make these much better than 6 months before, is that this is now Gen 2 of the same form factor. Hence it should be more reliable. I know that whenever a new Macbook/Pro form factor comes out, the first gen are usually the ones who has the most hardware issues.

I am pretty sure they learned the last 6 months how to make a more reliable computer in this form factor.

Apple won't admit that though. And I do not see this being a reason to upgrade if you have the launch version already.

The boost is all in what I do. Thats Video design and streaming and all.... Yep gonna pull the since Ive had 2.3weeks (4 Replacements)
of use since I bought it due to constant replacements to customer relations I want a new machine.
Does that mean there's nothing wrong with it and you just want to return it as a way of trading in for a newer model for free?

I am 100% content with my purchase. The upgrade was minimal to the 2017 model. Since I bought the Radeon 460, the graphical upgrade is slight. Since I don't edit 4K video, the built in bonus there is slight, and nearly nonexistent later on if High Sierra gives the hardware decoding to us, too. All in all, the 2016 model is holding its value compared to the 2017 model. I won't sell my upgraded system anytime soon.

The best way to revenge Apple 2016 MBP owners, is to wait until 2025 to upgrade again.
I agree with this wholeheartedly. My old MBP made it for 8 years. I'm looking forward to the same return with this model.

So same speed 4K as kaby lake? Multi 10 bit streams etc?

Yeah, I have no idea what you mean by that. Like, 4K at more than 60hz? And how many 4K things do you want to watch on a laptop? I'm not a big video user so whatever you're talking about means nothing to me.

In all honesty the H265 decoding could be better because HDCP 2.2 DRM requires single-chip decoding and so the 2016 MBP can't do Netflix 4k while the 2017 should be able to. Yay I guess?

Meanwhile, I have locally stored 4K content without DRM that I can watch on my 2016 MBP no problem. Does that help?

Wonder if The 4k stuff is gonna be available with high sierra.

Literally the ONLY reason I would want to upgrade to a 2017 model is to be eligible for the new AppleCare Plus which covers accidental damage. I loved the peace of mind I have with AC+ for my iPhone and would love to have it protecting my Mac as well.

Looks like IM been upgraded due to 4 replacements and still having issues..

Well I am 5 days out on replacement.

560 vs 460 is now the point and the 2.8 vs 2.7

If the replacements were warranty replacements, then you are past your 14-day return period.

If you returned each one for a refund, and purchased a new one, then you may be able to return your current one for a refund and buy the new one.

Your 14-day return period is based on when you purchased the machine. Your original sales receipt. It's not based on when a machine was last repaired or replaced under warranty.

That is an option that has been commonly provided. Essentially a variation of the lemon law being applied to provide a new replacement.

Wrong, Laptop from moment it arrived is the 14 day period especially with australian consumer law it is stated.

Since replaced with NEW machines it's re-applied, Yes it is under lemon law.

Found the Australian version of the Apple warranty. It does appear to differ from the US version. Much more in your favor.

2016 nTB.

I regret nothing. still 1499 for 8/256gb 2017 pro,

don't care about kaby lake, I have a great screen/machine overall.

...now I do wonder, as someone who added AppleCare recently to my 2016, if I can pay a little more to turn that into AC+ now that thats an option?

wouldn't mind, for just a little more coin, the peace of mind.

jesus,

That came at a big hit, way cheaper better performance and specs 6 months after the pro realease.... who else is feeling it like me... mines still in the 14 days again was replaced 4 times so thinking may do it again for the new one, what do you all think?

replaced 4 times, for what, quality control issues?

if that were me, id just get a price adjustment. 2017 aren't gonna be bulletproof to issues either, calling it right now... the 2016's surely dropped in price, as they're on their way out. the 2017's seem pretty incremental but depends if you value a little discount or MSRP for latest and greatest.

There will always be a better spec machine around the corner.
So even if you purchase 2017, you will still face the same situation next year.

So how would I coop with unavoidable? This year's MBP refresh is, thankfully, not that much substantial. No redesign, no substantial spec upgrade other than Kaby lake which is already about to become old later this year. Since I purchased my 2016 MBP in early this year after many of the early hiccup's resolved, I'm more than contend.

The model I'm more interested is iMac as my iMac 5k is ready to be replaced.

Of course, should started kaby from the start.

I think I could sell my 2016, buy a new 2017 having lost some money and wouldn't notice a single difference in pretty much anything I use my laptop for.

And I suspect the vast majority of Apple customers would be the same to be honest.
