I’m returning my 12P. I thought I could handle the smaller screen and I just really don’t like having a phone this small. I’m going to switch back to my iPhone 11PM and wait for the 12PM.

Can I return it in store tomorrow with the case to expedite the return in time for the 12PM preorder?
If you return directly to the apple store, they refund you straight away and you would see the amount back on your credit card maybe within 3-5 business days

Spot on, returned my 12 today in store, got a receipt for the refund, they take the web order number off your receipt so they can process the refund, you don’t even need to give them your credit card.

Yeah this year hasn’t gone well for me with decision making, and honestly, I have no clue why I have been like this. I have never had trouble making decisions like this in the past. I guess part of it is, for $850 I expect to pretty much have no complaints. Otherwise, why not just keep what I had?

I’m loving the crap out of my 12P

But !!

I am ever so glad I decided to hold onto my se2 and find an 8 on eBay to trade in.

I knew I’d miss the sucker if I didn’t

Well I didn’t trade mine - I had promised it to my granddaughter, and she confiscated it immediately, so it’s still laying around (she lives next door) for me to pick up and compare pros/cons with my 12. ;-p

I picked up the SE2 this morning, and I just like the darn thing. What I miss about the SE is the size, the form factor (I prefer the rounded edges to the square ones), ease of one-handed use, touch ID, and the lack of notch (and yes, I KNOW it has those ginormous bezels, but for some reason the notch really annoys me, and it never did with the XR or 11).

So I’m on the fence right now, teetering on the edge...

Welcome to the Mini club. I played with a friend´s 12 for 20 minutes, is a good weight, a lot better than the 11P.

BUT, when I went back to my SE, it just feel right; lighter, smaller, perfect on hand, perfect on pockets, It just adjust perfectly to the hand, and no the other way around (you adjusting to the device).

AND it cost 50% of the 12´s price...

I understand what you say about the keyboard, but I think you should try the Mini, is going to be a lot similar on typing on the SE, I guess...

Still enjoying my 12 but I find FaceID frustrating at times. Quite a few times it gets stuck on the Lock Screen with an unlocked padlock symbol but fails to open when I swipe. The animation just bounces. This is my first FaceID iPhone and it’s mostly quick to open, just sometimes it does this. On my 8+ it very rarely failed to open and it would quickly prompt the passcode if there was an issue. On the 12 when it won’t open, it takes several seconds and the passcode doesn’t appear, you just have to keep swiping until it opens. Kind of clunky IMO.

try scanning your face looking down a bit lower, it’s way better on my iPhone than my iPad.

Posted a similar response in another thread, but I'm not sure if I should keep the 12P or try the Max. My battery life has been the same or worse than my year-old 11P. Using this morning as an example, in three hours I have gone on a few sites (news and reddit, nothing with video), made one short phone call, and played Pokemon Go all using wifi. My battery is at 74% and has been on low power mode since I took it off of the charger. It was 100% when I took it off. Pokemon Go definitely eats up my battery, but to drop so quickly so fast is a bummer for a new phone, especially when my old one wasn't this bad.

I empathize with the "regret" here.

As someone who had the 256gb X (a bit different then because they only had 64gb and 256gb versions, no 128gb), I've now gone with the 128gb 12 Pro given I'm barely using 80gb right now (I share the 2TB iCloud plan with my wife and store all my photos / videos in iCloud).

I also have 2 young kids and understand taking so many photos / videos.

I personally would've kept the 512gb version if it was in the Pacific Blue color you liked and you were already comfortable with the ~$200 price increase from 256gb -> 512gb. But what's done is done.

In my opinion, I would keep the 256gb silver. Slap a case on it (maybe you were going to do that anyways, especially with 2 young kids, I know I am!) and you'll likely forget about the silver color in no time. Then you avoid having to do the return process / IUP complexity again. You can always keep an eye on stock to see if any nearby stores get colors you want, and can make the call then whether you want to go through the process.
I wanted to post a reply and say thank you for replying to my post. I figured it would quickly get lost in this thread and no one would see it’s good to know someone did. Thank you.
You did have a good point about just keeping my original blue phone. But I was really hung up on having storage I don’t need.

rationally, I had originally wanted the Blue because I thought I would go clear case this year and the blue was a color I actually cared about “showing off.” But once i realized the clear case wasn’t for me, color in the end really was way less of an issue.

I have since opened my phone and started enjoying it. The silver is not bad at all. The white camera cutout looks nice through my red case I dare say.

im very conflicted right now i kind of miss the bigger screen of my 11 pro max but also at the same time i like the one handed use of my 12p, also the decrease in weight too. my time is also running out to as verizon sometimes takes forever to put the upgrade back on the account.

Weirdly enough, i'm still feeling the impact of my short time with the 12 Pro.
I'm really appreciating how comfortable the X feels in my hands now.

Almost makes me question if i should even try the Mini.

But likely won't be able to resist. ;)
And Apple is likely not gonna change back to a rounded design anytime soon... don't wanna be stuck with the X forever :p And worst case i can still use a case (no pun intended), since the Mini is so small and light, that it won't bother me much.

Screen size and battery was the main concern for me, knew if I kept the 12 and went past my return date, I’d end up wanting the pro max.

So happy to be using my xs max again, love the bigger screen.

Haha,I can only imagine how frustrating it was to be on a smaller screen. At least now when you get the Pro Max you’ll be getting a larger screen than your Xs Max.

ABSOLUTELY!!! everything seemed perfect with the 12, size, weight, matte frame, but deep down I knew if I kept it past the 14 days return period, I’d end up regretting it and end up wanting a bigger screen, already feels 100 times better typing on my xs max.

Learnt 2 things, never buy a android phone ever again, never go under 6.5” in screen size. 😂

Hopefully one day they make a 12 model with a bigger screen, I’d be all over it, blue iPhone 12 max with a navy matte frame 🤤

Hurry up 7th November 👀📱 pro max time.

I wanted to update even though the battery was smaller and my iPhone was still working well. So far the smaller battery is no bothering me, I bought a new 20w charger and sold my old iPhone 11 Pro for £650 a nice chunk off the cost of the new one and with my birthday money the phone cost me £400 for a graphite (the sides should be darker) 256GB model. Loving it so far, and next year if apple bring out better batteries and the X60 modem which no doubt will be the modem of choice I'll update then.

It means I get a new phone with less loss than keeping the phone for a few years. Hell I don't drink, don't smoke and I'm in a wheelchair 24/7 and in pain 24/7 so why not treat myself. Its not a need at all but a want and that's fine with me, but I equally understand those that stick with the older models too as they are fantastic phones. Its just down to personal preference.

Same here, my iPad is all I use at home usually apart from sending texts to friends from the iPhone.
I only use my phone at home for instagram, as I still dont understand why it isnt on the ipad.....
I will be comparing the mini and 12pro to make a decision - no rush at all given my 11pro is still tip top and I have barely left the house in the last 112 days.

After reading all 9 pages and using my wife’s 12, my 12 pro arrives today, I can’t wait. 99% I’ll keep it.

To be fair, I’m coming from an 8+, and her 12 is a bit smaller, with the screen much larger. It’s a clean white and very sharp. She came from a 7+, so for us it is a worthwhile upgrade.

Unless your iPhone is your main computer, the size of the 12Pro is all one really needs and you can use the one that you have at home, iPad or MacBook for the bigger screen. This is why I would not carry a larger iPhone such as the max. Not needed for what most use it for, and not really that much more real estate as for the print is concerned. Somewhat larger, but not all that much.
