Sadly, if such a feature is introduced, I do feel it will be limited to the either the iPad Pro or the larger iPad. Are there 7-8" tablets with digitizers?
The Dell Venue 8 Pro is an 8" tablet that supports an active digitizer (credit goes to sracer for letting me know about it a few months ago). I don't know of any others, although I'd guess that there are a few out there. The Venue 8 Pro had a few issues, reportedly... I've considered getting one, but I'm still holding out for an iPad with an active digitizer. If a "Surface Pro Mini" ever came out I'd be even more tempted, seeing as Microsoft has done a really nice job with the hardware and even the battery life on the Surface line. I'd just really prefer to stay with the Apple ecosystem, especially with the new integrative features that we're seeing in iOS 8.

We've seen it as low as $275 it's just I don't think it would ever get to $199..

I'm hoping the MSRP will drop to $299, then I'll wait for Target to have one of their $60-100 gift card promotions (almost guaranteed to have one by the time black friday comes around), combined with 5% off with Redcard, and another 5% off with prescription rewards. That should bring it down to around $200.

Keep us updated if you could if that happens!

My Air was a gift, LOL, my husband would probably have a fit if I brought another tablet into the house.

I am not the person who gets new devices every year, although I'd like to, I just don't have all that extra cash laying around. I'm not exactly comfortable selling my devices and being without them for a few weeks.

I was definitely going to update from my iPad 3 this year because I kept banging up against the 32gb. However, ios8 blew up my iPad and I had to do a fresh install. I now have over 10gb available.

I am still on the fence about it because of the slow speed of it compared to my 6 plus. Also, having multiple connectors is a pain. I would also like the Touch ID.

I was going to run Photoshop Mix for the first time and it came up with a warning that the app was designed for iPad 4 and above. I have to think that all new apps are built that way. I am in the wait and see crowd. However, I am not as excited about as I was when the iPhone 6 was introduced. I hope Apple shows something about it that gets me more excited about it.

VERY unlikely to happen, considering none of their products since 2010 have been "exciting". Maybe boring.
Yeah the new ability to make and receive phone calls on my Mac and iPad is so 2010. Is your 2010 Retina MBP still working? Oh wait...
Now comparing my 6+ to the 3GS or the 4 from 2010 yeah again you are right

I own a 128GB iPad Air with cellular on Verizon. I see no reason to upgrade this upcoming update, nor do I ever see a reason to upgrade from one generation of just about any Apple product to the next (unless we're talking about the iPod touch, which doesn't get updates often enough).

I will, however, be upgrading (replacing) my first generation iPad mini this coming update, as the A5 processor sucked with iOS 7 and sucks that much more with iOS 8. Plus, despite it being a two year age difference, the CPU will be three generations newer (assuming it gets the same A8 found in the iPhones) and that is quite a speed bump.

I've been on the fence with my original iPad Mini. Would the prospect of the arrival of a 12 inch screen iPad cause you to delay on this?

Update: Just read this
Supply chain sources have told The Wall Street Journal that a rumored larger iPad is being delayed until the iPhone 6 Plus can meet demands. While a delay is disappointing, the good news is that we have further evidence of a 12.9-inch iPad in the works. If true, the larger iPad will go into production for an early 2015 release.

This is what the source told the WSJ:

“The top priority for the supply chain is to meet the overwhelming demand for the larger screen iPhones. The output of the 5.5-inch iPhone 6 Plus remains unsatisfactory. It would be challenging for display makers to split resources and spend a few months to ramp up production for a new larger screen iPad now.”

I am thinking I will skip. I have an Air and it works perfectly on iOS 8.0.2 and I see no real reason to upgrade. I already have a plus so touch id is only valid if I need security which i dont need on iPad air if I keep it home and I intend to use Apple pay on my iPhone Plus. Anyone else skipping the upgrade this year because Touch ID and an upgraded Camera will be the only things which it seems will be upgraded apart from the standard spec upgrade.

Cool deal.

I am trucking with my iPhone 4s as well as an iPad 2 and while I want an upgrade, I won't

I'm happy with my iPad Air. It works, no issues, and no need to update yet. Once the iOS updates start lagging, then I'll update.

i have the first gen mini, its getting a little slow for me (games lag, and bigger apps take forever to load). id like to see what the new mini update will be next week, but if its not enticing ill just get a refurb retina

Have had a retina Mini since January and it's the first time I've spent this long with one iPad. I really like it. More memory (both storage and RAM) would be nice, but not something that will make me upgrade this go around.

We already have the Air and a 3 so that will be big fat no to upgrading this year. Besides I need a new iphone, I'm still using a 4s.

I'll be sitting this one out, barring some unforeseen amazing upgrade that I cannot resist (unlikely). My 128gb Cellular rMini does pretty much everything I want from a tablet.

It's 100% an entertainment device for me, rMBP is for productive stuff and I don't game on it so speed wise it'll be fine for a least another year. If the new one had 2gb ram and I chose to suffer the pain of doing real work on a tablet, then it'd be a worthy upgrade I suppose.

The lack of ram ceased to bother me ages ago - multiple tab browsing and app refreshing is an utter joke regardless of what the RAM defense force say, but I altered my habits and as a single use entertainment device it's still fantastic.

Truly boggles my mind people use current iPads for work though, ffs buy a laptop, ANY laptop, or even a Surface.

I have an ipad 3 and haven't decided yet. I was insanely tempted to get an air or rMini last year but I overcame the urge and successfully skipped them. I'll probably go through the same thing again, and I'm not sure I'll be able to fight it this time ;).

But anyway, the ipad 3 works perfectly fine for what I use it for, which tbh is hardly anything; the wifi does cut out periodically but overall I'm still happy with it. I also have an issue with selling things because I am superbly lazy yet don't want to sell too low, and so I like to keep my one device for years and years and remember all the money I'm saving.
