I love my iPad Air no need for me to upgrading it. The only problem I have right now is the battery not charging

My iPad Air is awesome. Touch ID would be ok but not life changing for an iPad. The only thing that would really be worth an upgrade for me is a higher pixel density (marginal for most but the 264ppi vs my 401ppi 6 Plus is noticeable at close distances). Also...the rounded edges of the 6 Plus would be a welcomed addition to the iPad. These chamfered edges are sharp.

Also debating selling the Air and just going with a 6 Plus as my phablet. Still not quite comfortable deciding that yet. I'm waiting to see what is unveiled on the 16th to see if the iPad gets anything more compelling like split screen multitasking.

I am skipping the new iPad because mine, the 3rd generation iPad (the first with retina display) is perfectly good for what it does – being kept inside the drawer where nobody touches it.

Do you think Apple will add a digitizer at all? It's one of my most wanted features for an iPad to replace paper and be used for better drawing.
As sracer noted, Apple will occasionally cater to the market even if they have to backtrack on a past statement... but I'm doubtful that we'll see it any time soon. iPhones and iPads are still viewed primarily as media consumption devices, rather than media creation tools. While other products on the market include active digitizers, it's far from being ubiquitous, and most consumers don't seem to make a big deal about it. Put another way, it doesn't seem like Apple is losing too many sales specifically over the active digitizer.

If Apple really does release an "iPad Pro," I think that's the best shot we have of seeing an iPad with an active digitizer - at least, to start with. Hopefully it'll happen, and hopefully all iPads will eventually include it. An iPad Pro wouldn't do me any good... I need something the size of an iPad mini, which is also why the failed rumor of a "Surface Pro Mini" was disappointing to me.

I'm sticking to my Air, I love it, but I can already feel from here that multi-window multitasking will be a next-gen exclusive.

Which is actually my #1 missing feature, closely followed by a system API for pressure sensitive styli, so we could have uniform support for apps and the hardware.
You know, like I don't need extra printer drivers to print via AirPlay.

Would make picking the best combination of app and stylus a much smoother experience.

As for hardware, less input lag and 2GB of RAM -minimum-.
By now we should actually consider more, seeing how they'll stick with that for another 2 years and multi-window is thrown into the mix.

I am thinking I will skip. I have an Air and it works perfectly on iOS 8.0.2 and I see no real reason to upgrade. I already have a plus so touch id is only valid if I need security which i dont need on iPad air if I keep it home and I intend to use Apple pay on my iPhone Plus. Anyone else skipping the upgrade this year because Touch ID and an upgraded Camera will be the only things which it seems will be upgraded apart from the standard spec upgrade.

I own a 128GB iPad Air with cellular on Verizon. I see no reason to upgrade this upcoming update, nor do I ever see a reason to upgrade from one generation of just about any Apple product to the next (unless we're talking about the iPod touch, which doesn't get updates often enough).

I will, however, be upgrading (replacing) my first generation iPad mini this coming update, as the A5 processor sucked with iOS 7 and sucks that much more with iOS 8. Plus, despite it being a two year age difference, the CPU will be three generations newer (assuming it gets the same A8 found in the iPhones) and that is quite a speed bump.

Am I shallow because the only reason I want to upgrade is to match my new iPhone 6 Plus?

No. There are alot of people that use items as a fashion accessory. That and the fact many of us have OCD and if stuff doesn't match it drives us crazy.

It's your money, you spend it how you see fit!

Still rocking my old iPad 4. I might upgrade - depends on what they add. TouchID might even be enough for me to switch, but unless there's some killer feature we haven't heard of I'll take my time.

Sadly, if such a feature is introduced, I do feel it will be limited to the either the iPad Pro or the larger iPad. Are there 7-8" tablets with digitizers?

Do you think they will put the protruding camera on iPad Air 2 like iPhone 6 since they are going thinner? I hope not!!!

Still thinking but . . .

I'm sticking with my 1st gen iPad Mini. It still works as well as the day I got it.

A retina screen would be nice, but it's not a necessity for me.

I, too, have the first iPad Mini. I've been waffling back and forth on this. Yesterday I took a look, up close and personal, at the current iPad Air. I imagined it with the rumored features in an iPad Air 2 (or whatever it will be called) and right now I'm not seeing a good reason to get it. Plus there is that, rumored large screen iPad, which would definitely be a head turner for me. So, I'm closer to thinking it's best to just wait and see if that materializes sometime in the next year or so. Till then, I'll just hang tight and see what next week's announcement brings.

I have a retina Mini that I bought last November. I love it and have no need to replace it. Apple would have to do something remarkable with this year's version to get me to sell mine & buy the new one.

I think we'll see the large iPad Pro next year

My retina mini and air are ok now, but once Apple releases the secret OTA slowdown update on launch day, I'll be upgrading.

Even though I haven't updated my rMini to iOS 8 yet, I'm perfectly fine with how it performs currently. Touch ID is nice, but I keep my rMini at home the majority of the time, so I'm probably going to skip out on a rMini upgrades this year especially since I just purchased the iPhone 6.

I can't wait for the new iPads to be announced, so that prices of the current rMini will drop. I'd like to pick one up for $200
