I'm taking it all off

I'm taking off work from April 24 to May 8. And also the month of June.

Having it sent to work. It's too much trouble to take a day off - teachers do twice the work to be gone for a day. And as others have mentioned, the last time I took the day off for an iPhone delivery, the UPS guy didn't show until well after I would have been home, but they show up to school early since they know no one is there after 3.

Good teachers do twice the work to be absent! TRUTH! Hope you get yours! Hope EVERYONE here gets theirs!

Just seeing this quote from Ahrendts email memo: "customers who preordered will start receiving deliveries next Friday as planned." That's pretty strong evidence to take the day off for many who received the Apr. 24th-May 8th window.

Not really. Starting doesn't equal everyone getting theirs on Friday.

Of course not everyone, but not no one either. It's strong evidence, as it says, that people will "start receiving it on the 24th" and since I have ample vacation time and I ordered at 3:02 with the ship date of April 24th-May 8th, I'll enjoy the day and expect the watch. :)

I had originally made a Paid Time Off (PTO) request for 04/24/2015 about two weeks ago, but there are two things that ultimately had me cancel it. One, the fact that we have a two week window makes me think I may not get mine that day and don't want to waste a day off. Two, my iPhone 6 Plus wasn't delivered by UPS until almost 08:00 PM. So again, if that was the case, it would be a waste of a day off. If I get confirmation I get mine on Friday though I may leave work early.

I can't take a free day off - such a shame high school doesn't work that way...

However, I do have one other perk. UPS and FedEx both usually deliver to my home between 11:45 and 12:00.

I drive home for lunch, which is 11:35 to 12:00.

I think I'll be okay. ;)

Well I do have the day off, I'm stuck driving about 4 hours away at 6am, and won't be back until late that night. No Apple Watch fun for me on Friday. -__-

I thought about doing this, but have heard bad stories with work delivers on launch day. Some people are stuck at work until 7-8pm waiting on the package.

FedEx delivers to my office by 10:30 am every day.
UPS delivers at 11:45 to 12:30 pm every day.

I always have it delivered to work, because they never deviate from that schedule. I think once in the five years that I've been with my firm, UPS delivered at like 3:30 pm. UPS can come to my house any time between 2:30 and 8:30 pm though, so I'd much rather chance it at work. Plus, I may have a closing that day, which means no way I could take off even if I wanted to.

Or just call in sick to school

Psh, my watch is being delivered to my office! If it doesn't come on Friday (Apple forbid) I guess I'll be hanging out with our building security guard over the weekend.

AGREED. I'm a teacher too (1st Grade) and plan on taking the day off. However, I haven't submitted a sub request yet because I don't know if my watch will be delivered on the 24th or not!
I'm really hoping I get a shipment notification soon so that I know whether or not I have to write sub plans (which, even in elementary, are a royal pain).

I took both the 10th & 24th off as soon as those dates were announced. Upon scoring a sweet June ship date, I cancelled my 24th off. I'll just have to have my April 24th some time in June. :)
