You don't want people to start breaking out the screen shots of it's ridiculous responses. That's IF it works.

#1 Most of the time servers cannot be reached. Which is strange.

#2 And even if it manages to connect, there's the chance of it not responding to what you said.

#3 But even if it does respond to what you say, it might not understand what you say.

#4 Even if it understands what you say, it might not understand what you meant.

#5 And if it somehow manages to understand what you meant, it might not know how to perform the action in the way you expected it to.

And that's the 5 barriers to using Siri.

too many things it can't understand/do. Hope Apple can create a smarter Siri who actually understands what I want it to do.

And not one of those barriers has manifested itself for me in months. Maybe you have those issues; I don't.

Use Siri all the time.

I'm actually stuck using Siri exclusively till Friday because my screen won't turn on. :(

But Siri is getting the job done. She's reminding me of things, sending messages, reading messages, adding calendar events, making calls, and making music selections.

She works great.
I think we have a love connection! :D

This isn't a discussion about an old survey. Since that survey came out, Siri had been bashed in reviews. And the program has since, by a large amount of users, fallen into disuse.

Old survey... from a whole 2 weeks ago.

Sorry you have problems with Siri, but its also clear from a number of posts that not everyone shares your experiences.

Like another poster said, I haven't had a problem with it in months. The only (and rare) times it doesn't understand me is when there is too much background noise.

When I had my 64GB 4S for 4-6 months and only used Siri seriously probably less than 5 times.

How many times I played with her, probably over 100x. :D

I would've probably used it more if Maps was active in Canada. Even if Siri can get my NFL scores I doubt I will ask her since I use ESPN app.

So you must really enjoy beta testing. Not many people I know stay on beta software, they just test it for a few days and then they're done.

it's a wonderful piece of software if you want to dictate, send a message, read a text message or copy cute little commercials you see on tv. Where I'm seeing a major short coming is when trying to actually do something productive with the personal assistant.

That's where it doesn't perform.

I had to stop using it - my iPhone was in danger of me throwing it out of the car window.

Just a simple matter of trying to call my mate, who is called Sharon. I say 'Call Sharon xxxx, mobile' and I get 'I don't see Shandy in your address book. I say it again and it comes back with 'I don't shee Shanthi in your address book', it then moves to 'Shandy', then 'Shanghi' then eventually gets the first name right but goes through all permutations of the surname. Meanwhile I'm getting more and more stressed as all I want to do is make a simple phone call!

It used to work 100% accurately before Siri - never got it wrong.

In the end I have to pick up the phone, enter my password and make the call manually - while I'm driving, which I really don't want to do, not least because it is illegal in the UK to touch a mobile phone while driving.

I have a neutral British accent - not Scottish....

Add the phonetic spelling of the name. Try it again.

Had the 4S since launch and used it for less than few hours total.

Rubbish in the UK, hopefully will be much in IOS6.

I have Beta 3 on my 4S in the UK and it's brilliant, it's very usable and HE has a bit of a attitude, I listen to music whilst on the train / walking to/from work and when I asked him the time this morning he said "The time sponsored is 08:15 am, beep" haha quite impressive.

I use him to read me text messages, and also to look for places in the city (Manchester). It's not that good at looking stuff up outside the major cities at the moment.

That sounds more like it ;)

I'll have another try on next months release and hopefully UK integration will have come on leaps and bounds from the lacklustre Beta which i was so disappointed with.

Best regards

People wouldn't touch Siri with a 10 foot pole. Just because they're tired of it's incapabilities. I figured I could just keep asking the same questions and getting the same dumb answers or I could just do this get rid of it.

I asked Siri what the temperature was in the capital of Venezuela and it gave me Capital, in Springfeild Illinois. Which doesn't make sense because it can pull up what the capital of Venezuela is.

There have been many responses in this thread and the previously mentioned poll that says that that is not the case.

While it's clearly true for you and a few others, there are a bunch of people who have no problems and use Siri often.

OK, rephrase then, people who intended to use Siri as the virtual assistant it was advertised to be then later found out that it was a glorified voice search wouldn't touch it with a 10 foot pole.

There will always be the people who will be satisfied with the mediocrity.

Again, you're making false generalizations.

You can continue to state things as facts like "why everyone stopped using siri" and "people wouldn't touch siri with a 10 foot pole" among others, but that's not going to change the fact that a lot of people use Siri often and find much use with it... Why do you feel the need to insist that no one uses it?

Plus asking something like "what is the temperature in the capital of venezuela" is something that obviously a bit too complex for Siri, at least in its current beta implementation. That is two seperate calculations which is a bit tricky. You should simply first ask for the capital of venezuela, and then ask the temperature for it. I mean if you really don't know what the capital of venezuela is in the first place, why would you care the temperature anyway...?

I reported you for trolling :)

REMINDERS,REMINDERS,REMINDERS, turning on alarm clocks.......texting in car, dictating emails, finding gas stations.......

all day everyday..Awesome

siri rocks

Nope. Honestly, Siri sucks. I wish that wasn't the case cuz then I would use it but she just can't do much. And when she can, she doesn't seem to understand me.
She's not as easy as those ads show her to be. ...and she won't go out with me.

OP is falling into the category of people who assume that because they don't like something, no one else should like it either. You asked if anyone still uses it. Lots of people responded and told you yes, they do. You responded that it sucks and got snippy with people because they use it for tasks that you don't feel are important enough. You asked the question. Don't whine and complain because you're not happy with the answers you received.
