It means that you're apparently a slightly better person than me... :D

Although I'm sure that I was a 3.7 yesterday, now I'm a 3.6?
Are you sure that's what it means  mad jew's rep is really low, yet I always thought he was quite popular round here. Could this be something subjective? Maybe the site Gods are sat round a big spreadsheet just assigning numbers to people?

Actually, that could be it!!! I bet they're using MR members profiles to test out that new collaboration feature in iChat!! :)

Well, I kinda sometimes beat up the newbies in the Mac Basics forums. Yeah, I probably shouldn't. I can't imagine that'd help my reputation.

*Stands up*

My name's mad jew, and I hit n00bs.

I don't have a clue. Here's the evidence, though – from iMeowbot's list over in the 500+ Posters Reputation thread. I was wondering if I'd just misremembered it, but it's there in black and white. Especially baffling seeing as how I wasn't online last night and yet my rating has changed – so surely it can't be due to anything I've said or done?

You're got a point, though – do high numbers represent a high reputation or should we be striving to lower our score? My head is starting to hurt...

Well, that explains that. The mods don't allow me to help in 'Basics anymore. My answers were considered too geeky, so I got banished to 'OSX :(

3.9

Bahhh!!

BTW Jaffa Cake, you're right. Yours has gone down. Hurrah for you.....I think....

actually, youll see the OP, is not either of those....

so new theory?

vniow has spent most of her years here as a demi-goddess and as far as i have seen, is a key poster here on macrumors ever since she joined

i really can't see, over the years here as one of my alter-egos i have had on this site since 2000, where vniow has pissed anyone off in any way

if you want to find posters who can inflame, just go visit the political forums :)

well, it's basically not important if i got reinstated or if i was a longtime lurker (both are true of me as i was somebody else before, and before that, i lurked for a long time before i posted), but what i am basically trying to say is that over many years, i have seen some of the best and most helpful stuff come from vniow

vniow is on the top of my list along with people like dr. q, igav, and mischief

Didn't you tell us who you are?

yes i did, and most didn't believe me anyway, but that doesn't really matter

what matters is that i like vniow and i can't see how she could get a low rep number

I might not be in on the joke(?) but I thought these rep numbers were just play fun.

Where's the zoo keeper? Got to tranquilize this thread and haul it back to the private forum. :)

Haha, SNAP!

I don't even have a rep. I expect to get a rep that's around the same as Jaffa Cakes', but I guess I don't have one because of all the spam I keep passing around.

Well from what I've gathered in this thread, the rep has something to do with how the moderators feel about you or something like that (still not completely sure). I know I don't post a lot per day (1.92 posts per day as of right now) and they're not all insightful but I don't think I've done anything to deserve such a low reputation. I'm gonna take some time away from the boards until I get this sorted out in my head... it's kind of frustrating to be thought of so low with all the work you thought you had put in.

Yeah, seriously.

It's not a matter of what your score is, but I regularly give advice in the Buyer's Advice and MacBook/MBP forums, and very often in the Photography forums when it comes to buying advice. If I knew my advice was worth 2.5 out of 10 or something and wasn't considered at all valuable to the mods or any other member, I'd just stop giving it. Why should I if mods and/or other users appreciate it or find it useful?

On the other hand, there are some other members here who have very high scores, and I can't understand why. They're great to post with, some are funny and make this place fun, but are they particularly helpful? Not a chance. :p

So I really don't know whether other users will be able to give a feedback score, or whether it's just mods, but I really don't see the point. I think Mad Jew doesn't deserve a 2.5 or whatever rating. That's just ridiculous considering how much work he and several others do in those forums helping other people out.

Well I see that the elite ones are not bored with this yet! Anyone care to run a sweepstake on how long this is going to last?

we should change the rating system and rate people by macworld's mice system...something we all understand

...from one mouse, or none, for a lowly rated poster/member, and five mice for an excellent one
