Spot on YEP. You said it better than I was thinking. Thank you

No problem. Anyways, MacRumors has tons of iOS fans, so they will not necessarily favor Android's advantages. For instance, people say iOS' security is crucial towards their OS choice. iOS, even though it's meant to be rudimentary, isn't idiot proof. When I use Android devices, I do not use Lookout because it's toxic towards the phone. It simply wastes resources scanning files and apps 24/7. Instead, I just use common sense to choose what to install and what to avoid. Android is so mature now, that I haven't rooted a phone in about 3 years. iOS requires a jailbreak to even offer similar experiences to Android. I understand that some people do not like using a 5.5" screen to use two apps at once, but the OPTION SHOULD EXIST. Simple as that because the iPad Mini offers that feature. Hell, if a dinky cheap Android nougat device can offer split-screen multi-tasking, then the all-mighty fruit logo phone should offer it too. Hell, we didn't get the ability to disable crap on iOS till iOS 10. So it seems like Apple might make that change later rather than sooner.

The iPhone has been the Fisher Price phone for the Grandmas and teens for years now. Just shocked with the brand new groundbreaking iPhone X, that Apple didn't choose this time, to finally update and revise the stale looking "My Little Pony" iOS theme they've been rocking since iOS 7.

But hey, different strokes for different folks. If you like the Disney style that is iOS, that's cool. I don't, and with the X it would have been the perfect time to revise it,
Apple decided they didn't like skeumorphism.

OK. I'd be fine with that if the decision also hadn't been made to have so much white space and in between to use primary colors mainly found in preschools nationwide.

Apple takes away the NC with iOS 7 to introduce the Control Center.

But changes it's mind and brings the NC back with iOS 8. So now we have both the NC and the Control Center.

Why was DND only okay when your device was on power and unlocked under iOS 6, but implemented system wide (power/no power, locked or unlocked) with iOS 7?

It's just little inconsistancies over time that build up for me.

There are other things as well, such as one personal pet peeve…

Apple Watch ≠ LED notification light.
LED flash for notifications (through Accessibility) ≠ LED notification light

Yeah, I never understood why iPhones never offered LED notifications. Such a great phone feature to distinguish between notifications. Raise to wake was one of the more useful concepts they did add, but they also might lack a proper AOD on the iPhone X.

Most stale argument that we have to hear year in and year out, and yet Apple will still sell well over 100M new iPhones over the course of the next year, because the new phones provide more than enough changes in hardware and software to warrant an upgrade.

The question of "why don't they include options that have been available in jailbreaks for years" is easy to answer. Because only .01% of the population cares about dark mode or being able to move an icon or folder into a random spot. Pretty much nobody cares, literally.

AND, all leaks so far indicate significant improvements in both hardware and software...sorry if you can't move your folder onto the bottom of a blank page.
Yep!

Grand majority of people care about the camera, taking pictures and texting. The average customer doesn't know about the new processor, new sensors, etc.

Does it work when they need it to? Yes? good. A stable OS helps this a lot, less crashes and a straightforward UI is more relevant than anything.

That's why Apple always sells millions and millions of iPhones year after year.

Scamung is an abomination to Android, the Lagwiz UI just sh!ts all over stock Android. There's no need for that crap anymore. No reason for manufactures skins today, when stock Android is a work of art and so good now. The Pixel and Pixel XL phones should be the main Android phone for everyone.

And then if you like Apple, you have the choice of the X and 8.

Some of us love our Samsung devices and don't have your absurd violent feelings towards it's OS optimizations when it was the forerunner of most features you want in your mobile life. Enjoy being whatever type of jailbreaker you are.......lol

And no it doesn't lag anymore..it's not 2014....titty bitties!!!!!!...where did that name come from???

iPhone X has an OLED screen with 2K screen resolution in the size to the 4.7" LED that has only 720i not p screen resolution. Has the A11 inside that takes a third less power and is 50% faster then the A10! OLED screens take less power then LED screens. Face recognition is the best form of ID!

I had the iPhone 7 Plus for five months this year, first iPhone since the 3G, and the only thing I really liked about it was iMessage. It truly is the best texting communication app, blows away Google's offering. Other than that, the phone 7 Plus blew chunks, and felt like a time warp from 5 years ago, super restrictive and just more buttons to press to do stuff, compared to Android with fewer buttons and faster to get simple tasks done. And a laundry list of crap that irked the living hell out of me using it.

But JB, wow, holy cow, Jailbreaked 7 Plus was night and day better, like a whole different phone. Turned it from a stale refrigerator appliance the iPhone is, into a super cool gadget once JB'd.

My point being, as cool as JB is, and the super cool new iPhone X, it deserves a JB type iOS functionally now, and the Jailbreak customization should be baked in standard to the iPhone X. Not just iOS 10.5 they put in the X. iSO 11 ( or iOS 10.5 as I call it ) just doesn't look or seem right for such a cool new iPhone X, it needs better, and Apple could easily have done that.

Oh well, the iPhone 9 will probably get the totally revamped UI in iOS 12.
You do understand that when Apple revamps the UI in a software update that most phones will be able to get that update immediately unlike Android where only the Google phones will get the full update right away.

I agree and furthermore i prefer the latest version of Samsung Experience over Stock Android. I love the added features that it provides while still providing a near stock Android experience. This is not 2012 anymore where touchwiz was bloated and laggy.

Face recognition the way Apple is implementing it is great, the way Android implements it blows chunks of puke.

While Tig Bitties is entitled to their opinion, they do bring up important points. iOS is too slow to implement important features. Why did it take till iOS 11 to add a file system? For some big 10th anniversary update, offering a "Fischer Price" UI for years on end isn't really taking iOS to the next level. iOS doesn't take advantage of the + model's 5.5" display generation after generation. What's the point of a bigger screen if you do not maximize it? To say "oh, we can make a 1080p iPhone?" The iPhone 7+ should offer split-screen multi-tasking. Simple as that.

It seems like the iPhone X could be overhyped because of the sticker price and the catching up it will do while compromising up and down the new design. Losing Touch ID is a bitter pill to swallow for many. Anyways, iOS isn't immune to criticism. It is lacking in features and requires compromises, which is why it's successful. It's meant to be basic and bare bones. People do not care for the compromises they make with iOS because it means having a trendy device, a phone that works for a long time, and a strong brand behind it. iOS' notification system is clunky as hell and using iTunes is a PITA.

I'm not being dismissive of anyone's opinion in here and I'm familiar with the OP's previous post(s) on the alternative section and iPhone forum. Aside from all of that, what it really comes down to is user preference. Even if iOS 11 is not that much of a drastic change over iOS 10, for some, it doesn't necessarily need to be. We can reply back and forth on a consistent basis on this thread and find what's wrong with iOS and/or what they could improve upon.

All I can ask for with iOS is the experience. It delivers for me. Why? I don't jailbreak, I don't require further customization, iOS does exactly what I need it to. It's the simplicity that it offers, the fluidity of the operating system, the communication between the ecosystem, and the security. Those are the core demographic features that iOS targets to their users. In my opinion, Apple wants their iOS to be simplistic and intuitive, and anyone that uses their operating system, knows this from the beginning. Those features I listed I believe are what makes the iPhone so successful, aside from the hardware standards.

And when I purchase an iPhone, I purchase the latest device every year, not because I need the latest device as 'trendy' fashion, I purchase it because I want the best experience possible. And Apple gives me that ability.

If I weren’t in the same camp as needing a jailbreak to make the experience complete, I’d have sold my 7+ sometime this summer, prematurely, to maximize resell and waited it out on my SE

Face recognition the way Apple is implementing it is great, the way Android implements it blows chunks of puke.

At least its not forced on it's users when buying the best version of the iPhone which is the X. Face detection is literally the only way to unlock your new iPhone X with the exception of the old fashioned pin and passwords. It's not cool and people will eventually bring up situations and inconveniences that cause face detection to not work.

Android has options thankfully...you guys have to buy the lesser device to have alternative unlock options such as Touch ID.

Yes, IOS is boring. Enjoy Android. Hate to break or to you, but just because you want/expect the top 10 jailbreak features doesn't mean everyone does.
The top 10 jailbreak features from 2012 have pretty much been taken by apple lol. You should be thanking the JB community for over half of what you see on ios.
[doublepost=1505108270][/doublepost]In fact, 13 features of iOS 11 were taken straight from jailbreaking that ppl have been doing for the last few years

Conversely, most people don't care about the technical aspects of faster processors or bigger cameras. Ask these people what "A" chip powers their iPhone and they'd have no clue. Most wouldn't even know that it's an Apple designed chip. Nor would they care.

But you're right. The same 99.99% that doesn't care about jailbreaking also doesn't care about the technical aspects discussed here all the time in this forum either.
Fortunately, technically iPhones are the best all around phones on market, so whether people realize it or not, they get the top of the line each time. May not be first to market in each new feature, but they embarrass the Samsung of the world when they implement.

720i (720 lines interlaced) is an erroneous term. Look it up.

Honestly, I'm in the same boat as you. I was more interested in seeing what Apple announced at WWDC than what they announce on Tuesday. After WWDC was over, most of my hype for the iPhone 8 dissipated.

I thought 'Great. Cool new phone design (though I find the rumored design a little ugly but I digress), but still running the iOS that we all know.' Having finally tried Android after years of iOS, I'd be tempted to feel that I'd be taking a step backwards going back to iOS.

Full disclaimer: I currently own an Android device. It runs stock Android. I previously owned an iPhone 5 for four years. I know both OS's well.

You really don't

iOS on an iPhone 7 is completely different to the experience on an iPhone 5.

Happy with 7 plus. iPhone X managed to have all the things I avoided galaxy all this time. OLED is a problem, even when releasing iPhone 5 with smaller screens, Apple execs had a lot of bad things to say about OLED. Take any galaxy on best buy's display burn is going to be there, saturation will be something to get used to from regular Apple screens. I'm still exited about seeing new product, just depends if carriers will go along with it, like they offered incentives on iphone 7, but for $999 I'd short apple if i had stock

I thought iOS was boring and dull to me. I tried Android for the first time when I tried the S8, excellent hardware by the way , but android was just so sluggish and slow comparing to iOS at least, and it made me realized what I had before. It made me appreciate iOS even much more with it’s stability and how fluid it runs on my iPhone. Glad to be back.

Face recognition the way Apple is implementing it is great, the way Android implements it blows chunks of puke.
That remains to be seen though. We hope Apple has got it right but it's not exactly terrible on the new Samsung devices. They both work.

I am totally confused the major hype for the new iPhone X, I just don't get it. It's nothing new at all to really be excited about. And I am super smartphone nerd, total gadget geek.

Because it's running the same old boring iOS, sure the iPhone 8 will be all new tech, catching up to the looks and bezel less display Android phones have had for a year already. But at the end of the day, the fancy new phone wears off quickly, and your left with the OS you use day in, and day out 24/7, and iOS 11 is just like lame boring, locked down iOS 10, which was just like old iOS 9, which was like lame iOS 8, and the Fischer Price toy iOS 7 which started it all.

Who gives two ****s about the new design of the iPhone X, when it's running the same iOS still from iOS 7 basically ? I'd be way more excited and pumped if the new phone was just the iPhone 8 Plus, but with a totally revamped major revision to iOS. That would be breaking news and truly jaw dropping. But right now, this X is basically a Galaxy S8 running iOS. Yawn :( Once the shiny new toy feeling wears off, it will feel just like the iPhone 7, and iPhone 6S, and iPhone 6, etc...Nothing new at all really here.

To be honest, I fail to see the big excitement for the iPhone X, What's the big deal here ? My point being the OS in it, is the same thing we've seen for years, nothing new here, just old iOS, nothing new. Sure the phone itself is better FINALLY, but that's it.

Thing is I LOVE the iPhone, a Jailbreaked 7 Plus is the best smartphone IMO right now. But only JB iPhone's do it for me, otherwise Nexus / Pixel all the way.
Cool story.

But if you want the best experience possible, writing Apple to improve helps because they’re becoming too stagnant and the cost of ownership is getting outta hand. If you’re spending $1000 USD, $1400 CAD, or other currency units, you better get a device that meets your wants since an iPhone 7 or iPhone SE or iPhone 7+ can meet your needs while not hurting your wallet as much as the X will.

Ok, that doesn’t change the outdated UI look and Apple’s lack of maximizing screen real estate.

There are going to be a ton of changes to how this phone works as it is mostly gesture based. It will be very advanced compared to the competition, which it was already way ahead of in regard to performance, security, and ecosystem. Just because you can't have multi colored weather widgets and robot themed app launchers doesn't make it boring. It's just an OS that is better suited for use instead of tinkering. Not sure why you even bothered to post.

This type of stuff should be standard in iOS 11, especially with the introduction of the all new X model;

7 Reasons Why You Should Jailbreak Your iPhone

All seems very minor. I'd like a dark mode, but that's it. No reason to jailbreak for these things. Jailbreaking is dead anyhow, it's for children.

Pretty much like most things Apple implements after Android.
