Also much easier to break, ask the s7. I don't know what Apple will do, but we will see.

Features as used in the context of the definitions I've read are active not passive. So is a frame is not a feature. But if the frame had a built in light show that would be a feature. A frame is a decorative edging. We are so far astray lol.
When you drop your phone, something is bound to break. Its either the metal dents or your screen shatters or even both.Either case its not good.Or are you saying dented metal is better than cracked glass because to be perfectly honest both ruin the look of the phone.I dropped my iPhone 6 when it was uncovered (a rare incident) when it was raining. The phone slipped out of my hand and now there's one sore looking dent in the back.I planned on intentionally damaging it further to get replacement under Applecare but thought waiting for the iPhone 7 would be smarter as it was 5 months away at that time

Whether it's the nicest looking or not is purely subjective I would say. Many polls suggest the iPhone 4 was the nicest design but I preferred the 5. So who is wrong? Nobody because aesthetics are always subjective and probably the only topic where there is no actual fact.

Maybe so but there is not contest when you compare the latest Samsung to the latest Apple. It fits a BIGGER screen than the 6s plus in a smaller footpring and the curved glass looks AWESOME

Lol, funny guy.

So to add to the thread topic then: it could be said a feature of the 6s plus are the bezels which aid in grip ability and add to the stylishness and unique look of an iPhone.
Is that why the end game of Apple is to make a iPhone with no bezels and homebutton?

We are so far off the topic on this thread now that I'm getting bored. But if we're talking about pure aesthetics then I suppose Sony wins with their Z series hand down.

Case in point. My business phone on the right.

Prove it.

At least when I drop the iPhone it continues to work. Or should I resurrect the YouTube video?

You know after the 8 there will be a 9... so why buy the 8 wehen you can wait for the 9 the 10 the 11 and so on?

People buy because they want / need a device, they know there will be something better the year after (sometimes even 6 months after).

Also... what do we know about the 8?
All this anniversary update... when is the last time Apple did an anniversary update? The only one i Recall was the 20th anniversary Mac and if i recall well that did not work out as expected!!

You've allowed me to come into the light.

Who am I fooling? I'm buying the 7 too! Because it's new! So I just have to. There's nothing else I can do! We should be thankful we're getting an iPhone at all!

Apple is to bless us with another iPhone one mo gain!

The status of an iPhone 6s after the latest drop test compared to the Galaxy Note 7 and Note 5.Screen shattered more than the other two and in fact even the home button broke

What are you blabbering about, no one forces you to, You have the choice, you and only you can decide if you want /need it....
We shouldn't be thankful at all, and Apple doesn' t owe us nothing either, it is a business, people tend to make it an emotional thing....

You quoted me without even reading..."People buy because they want / need a device, they know there will be something better the year after (sometimes even 6 months after)."

You don't have to have a new phone very year you know???If you don't want / need a device skip it, but that doesn't mean there aren't plenty of people that want / need a new iPhone this year.

In my case I have to buy the iPhone 7 because my iPhone 6 has become laggy.I am tired of these stutters.

It's a phone. If you need a new phone and can afford it, it's going to be the best one out there. People make it more complicated than it needs to be. There will always be new technology coming, enjoy what you have while you can. And no, we are all not blinded by Apple. No one is forcing us to buy a new phone every year, some people just have the means and want to do so. If you want to hold off and wait till iPhone 8, no one will be upset about that either.

But it begs the question, could Apple even release a new iPhone that wouldn't sell? Is that even possible?

What would they have to do, how low would they have to set the bar for people not to buy?

If the rumors regarding the iPhone 7 are true, the bar is set pretty darn low this time .As to your first question,I dont think they have to do anything to make it sell.iOS is the answer to Android's issues and vice versa.Hence moreso than the hardware people will still buy it just for iOS.A person who liked challenging status quo was Jobs and I dont see Apple like that anymore. Some incremental updates here and there and some watch bands are thoe most you can expect.
Another revolutionary product line is the Apple Car but thats in 2021 and I bet Tesla will have eaten Apple's lunch by then

I totally agree with you on the size of the Plus, Apple need to address that and slim it down. For this reason alone I have never considered the Plus.

Not a fan of the curved display though due to the fact I drop my phones daily and tempered glass protectors are harder to fit from what I have seen. I go through a couple a year on my iPhone 6. I am happy with a 4.7" display if I am honest and have even considered the SE recently.

I would not put too, too much stock into drop test videos because different outcomes can happen in every unique situation. Here, the 6S Plus took on the Galaxy S7 Edge. The S7 Edge was destroyed before even going into the 10 foot drop. The 6S Plus survived the 20 foot drop without even shattering the screen. You just never know.

I have seen improvement year after year on each iPhone. Major improvement? No, but very steady incremental improvements to each model. The software, in my eyes, is only going to keep getting better. People who prefer the Apple ecosystem will remain and continue to upgrade. I think people are taking the fact that the case changes are minor as they aren't making any improvements to the iPhone 7. I said in my other post, but improved audio, screen technology, camera technology, and software improvements are a big deal to a lot of people. More so than just a redesigned case, when everything you do with your phone is primarily interacting with the same size screen.

I think regardless of whether tech geeks are complaining about the lack of features or not, the iPhone is a nice, solid device. I know so many people who don't even look at other devices and when upgrades are due, there is only one device in the running. These people run iPads and Macs and it all syncs together nicely and Apple would have to seriously stuff something up to break that trend IMO.

I still think they will annoy people this year by not releasing a facelift model, but again I think the vast majority have no idea and will just get the 'new iPhone'.

The 6+ had the best loudspeaker audio of any iPhone to date and yet the 6S+ although better in every other regard, has much inferior loudspeaker audio. So 'upgrading' is sometimes a downgrade...or in the case of the jump from i5 to 6+, a massive downgrade (screen size aside).

Isn't the rumor that the 2018 iPhone is going to be glass front and back? I would love that... the iPhone 4/4s was one of my favorite iPhone's as far as looks, and I didn't care that it had glass front and back. If that gives us wireless fast charging... like I am really enjoying on my S7 Edge now... it wouldn't bother me at all if Apple did this. Haven't dropped a phone in years. My iPhone 4 survived 2 years without cracking. I'm really anal on how I handle my phones now. Either I have the death grip on my phone or it's in my pocket. Haven't dropped a phone in years. If my phone drops hard, a ding on my iPhone is just as bad as cracked glass. If I do drop my phone... then I deserve to have a broken phone. Nobody to blame but myself. Durability isn't an issue... just give me a new sexy phone with current features... doesn't matter what OS it has.:)

Maybe, just maybe, because most of us use it as a telephone, email, iMessage device and not a status symbol that you wave around in public saying ... hey, look at me!

But then why you buy iPhone 7? Any iPhone 5 can do all of these just fine. You don't need iPhone 7 for phone call, text messaging, iMessage and email.

How do you know what else it will have?

For those who value camera could be a very good upgrade.

Just because it looks the same doesn't mean it will be

If you value camera, you won't use iPhone.

Even though iPhone's camera is great, but still far away from DSLR

Microsoft did this with the Xbox One S. "We're coming out with this device, but the real new Xbox is coming after that."

Well, then why come out with the product at all? Now that we KNOW about the iPhone 8, we're not going to buy this phone WE'RE GONNA WAIT.

If you look at the phone, it looks just like an iPhone 6s. And with what we've been hearing, it pretty much IS an iPhone 6sII.

It's literally the nothing new iPhone. They did this before with the infamous "iPad 3"

That analogy would only work if the iP7 had a new oled screen but with last years chip and was fat and thick lol

But have you dropped your phone in years?

An old test.Try again. My video is more valid now
Old but very relevant. You can't wipe the past clean because you choose to ignore the reality of it.

I don't know how "most of use" any mobile device, but the sales of 6s seem to indicate people wanted to buy one for whatever the reasons.

As far as the camera, if you value camera you won't use a cell phone camera, no matter what the make. You'll buy a top of the Canon, Hassellblad or Nikon. Right? With the requisite 20 to 30 thousand in top of the line lenses. Right? With another $30K in specialized lighting equipment.

Now granted the right tool for the right job, but most of us have our cell phones in our pockets, where we can use it to take videos or photos and they are pretty darn good. Those who have some background in photography can basically tell the difference as long as the photos aren't jury rigged in some manner.
