To me it speaks volumes, when a phone that has more ram and higher specs than last years iPhone, does worse in a speed test. I agree it's not everything, but there are people who go by specs and will say things like "the Note 7 has better specs" which on paper it does, but in really world tests it can be a different matter.
The OS is built differently though with a different software so more ram is needed. Doesn't mean that's a bad thing.

Real usage does matter and I will compare my 6s plus to the note 7 when I get mine. If it lags and performance is bad I will return it but my S7 edge I had no issue with.

Fair enough, it's kind of off putting seeing all the bad customer experiences on Facebook. People's experiences dont seem to be good from what I've read.

A few had some negative thoughts but generally most of the reviews have been very good on YouTube with many thinking it's the best device of 2016. Not everybody will agree of course. Think in terms of smoothness iPhone is the best but people have more than speed on their list of what they want from a phone.

Ok, i will say it looks better than what the Samsung phones use to. I just like to own a reliable phone, and I have to say that I've never had a problem with any of the iPhone's I've owned so far.

I'm thinking of waiting for the iPhone 10. Heard rumor it is going to be a game changer. Trouble is when it's released am worried the iPhone 12 will be better. What to do, what to do, seems like I am always waiting.
Two choices always waiting or always buying. ;)

I could only look at so many reviews, but I have to have the device in my hand to make my decision. Played with the S7 Edge in the store and was easily impressed... but still had to give it try. If I'm not satisfied... I'll just return it. Just because I tried it and now use it as my daily driver... doesn't mean I don't enjoy iOS anymore. Like I've mentioned many times... I use my 6+ and iPad daily... I just like enjoying new tech no matter what platform. Even if I did have a bad experience with the S7 and touchwiz... I wouldn't post here to convince others not to try it or justify staying with iOS. My experience doesn't not always equal what others may think. I've had no issues transitioning from iOS to android/touchwiz... probably because my iPhones are usually jailbroken since the 3g iPhone and use similar tweaks. I could see why some iOS users would be frustrated with touchwiz. My wife gets frustrated with my jailbroken 6+... LOL... There is a learning curve to learning android and touchwiz coming from iOS... but people had to learn iOS when they first iPhone also. I'm not trying to convince people to jump ship... I still think if they are comfortable, happy, and dependent on Apple ecosystem, they are better off staying with iOS. The techie part if me likes to try new things no matter what platform.

Agreed

Choice is a great thing. Samsung for one are doing some fantastic work with their devices now and people will try and find any fault with any successful platform that's doing well. I hate that people feel the need to bash a great product to make themselves feel better about their own.

Me? I love both IOS And android. As a tech fan as well I just want to be impressed and it doesn't matter who it's by.

You mean you're going to keep the 7 and bypass the 8 next year and wait for the 8s. ;)

"Following Apple's standard naming scheme, with a numeric increase during even years to mark external design changes and an "S" increase during odd years to denote internal feature updates only, the 2017 iPhone would be called the "iPhone 7s."

Given the major changes Apple plans to introduce to the iPhone in 2017, it seems unlikely the device will receive an "S" name, so there's a good chance Apple may decide to skip directly to the next full number, naming the 2017 iPhone the iPhone 8. "

2007 - iPhone
2008 - iPhone 3G
2009 - iPhone 3GS
2010 - iPhone 4 (new design)
2011 - iPhone 4s
2012 - iPhone 5 (new design)
2013 - iPhone 5s
2014 - iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus (new design)
2015 - iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus
2016 - iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus
2017 - iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus

"iPhone 8 is a tentative name for the device -- it has not yet been confirmed by Apple -- but it seems to be the most logical choice for a major update. There's always the possibility Apple will call it something else or make 2017 the year it moves away from a numbered iPhone naming scheme."
I meant that I'm buying the iPhone 8 and skipping the 7s.

I'm actually going the other way, from 5.5" to 4.7".

I'm starting to hear more people finding themselves unhappy with the size they picked. Someone else in this thread bought a 5.5", then went down to a 4.7", and is now going back to a 5.5". Personally I wish they had a 5.1" iPhone and I know it's not going to happen, but I bet there would actually be a lot of demand for it.
I also feel the same, I wish there was an in between size... sigh its never going to happen with Apple...

So then what is doubling the number of cores? Since that doesn't meet that definition? It's a feature to me.
Part of the CPU which is an integral part of the phone functioning.Obviously a feature. Its mentioned in the specifications for a reason

So even the aesthetics are a feature. If apple moves the fcc id up 1 inch it's a feature? I think the definition has been stretched on this one. You wouldn't say the frame around the Mona Lisa is a feature; or maybe you would? Typical examples of what a feature is, is something that does something rather than an aesthetic quality. So I don't agree, however, if that's your opinion of a feature, who am I to disagree?

lol it's not an opinion. It's a fact.No one likes an ugly phone matter how fast or smooth it is.Why do you think design is given an entire section for itself in phone reviews?

Thank goodness the 6s isn't ugly then.
Its not ugly but it's not Apple's best design either. They need to shave off the bezels. The iPhone 6s Plus is positively a giant in front of the S7

I am guessing the iPhone 8 will have the best design because of glass. Its easier to make good design with glass.Just look at Sony

Whether it's the nicest looking or not is purely subjective I would say. Many polls suggest the iPhone 4 was the nicest design but I preferred the 5. So who is wrong? Nobody because aesthetics are always subjective and probably the only topic where there is no actual fact.

Tell that to someone who sells frames...

YES the frame changes the picture, a good frame can make the value of the picture go up! YES the frame is a feature....

"A picture frame is a decorative edging for a picture, such as a painting or photograph, intended to enhance it, make it easier to display or protect it."

Not only changes the Aesthetics, it protects it, and enhance the view..... i guess those are features!

Also much easier to break, ask the s7. I don't know what Apple will do, but we will see.

Features as used in the context of the definitions I've read are active not passive. So is a frame is not a feature. But if the frame had a built in light show that would be a feature. A frame is a decorative edging. We are so far astray lol.

Well you can turn it as you wish, but saying that a new cpu, a new gpu a new camera and more ram are not features.....it is self commenting!

"A feature is a distinct property or piece", there's no distinction on active or passive, also a frame does ACTIVELY changes the Aesthetics of the picture and its value.

A feature of the picture is a picture frame? Well okay then.:)

Yes, becase it is an integral part of the piece of Art.

"Because the Mona Lisa's poplar support expands and contracts with changes in humidity, the picture has experienced some warping. In response to warping and swelling experienced during its storage during World War II, and to prepare the picture for an exhibit to honor the anniversary of Leonardo's 500th birthday, the Mona Lisa was fitted in 1951 with a flexible oak frame with beech crosspieces. This flexible frame, which is used in addition to the decorative frame described below, exerts pressure on the panel to keep it from warping further. In 1970, the beech crosspieces were switched to maple after it was found that the beechwood had been infested with insects. In 2004–05, a conservation and study team replaced the maple crosspieces with sycamore ones, and an additional metal crosspiece was added for scientific measurement of the panel's warp."

Without that "active feature" it would warp and become useless.

But ok you win, won't be blabbering about it anymore :p

"A feature of the of the car" is the racing stripe, is different than "the car features a racing stripe", even though it can be said the racing stripe protects the paint underneath vs "a feature of the car is a new 5 liter supercharged engine that can propel the to 60 in...". I do not hear people talking like the former, but do talking like the latter, do you? A feature of the door is a door knob? Well I guess so especially if the first doors were lacking them. Anyway...
