How good is the quality of step/distance count on a trendmill who gps isn't involved? It will be my first Apple Watch so I'm unsure about that

You can use the apple watch indoor or outdoor.

If you are jogging outdoor it will use GPS, if you jogging indoor on the treadmill it won't need GPS.

it will give you all the details you need to know regarding step/distance & calories. i bet that's pretty cool right :D

10/10 douchy.

It’s the Nike Version, so ‘just do it’!

Cool! Is this accurate enough in comparison with the distance given by the trendmill?

well, i can't say that for sure because AW4 isn't out yet. All i can say it's not 100% precision figure but accurate enough which is good sign.

I haven't tried apple watch with technogym that you can exchange information - maybe that's even more accurate reading i guess.

In my experience it is at least as accurate as the average poorly-calibrated gym treadmill. It matches my home treadmill very well.

For good results, you need to give the Watch a good sample of outdoor running and walking at roughly the pace you will run or walk on the treadmill. It needs to learn and calibrate your biomechanics in order to judge distance indoors.

I would get the Nike if available on Friday. But no big deal since I have an S3 Nike and the only REAL benefit to me is the band (which I have now). While the Nike faces are neat I have never used any of them for more that a passing interest.

I heard that the Nike band is not the greatest quality of all the time. During the one year you have the s3 the band is still in a good condition or you had to replace it?

Any idea about the quality of the eBay non genuine mike bands?

The Nike band is ACTUALLY an Apple band and has the same quality as the Sports band since it IS a Sports band with holes in it and they are made of fluoroelastomer. Apple/Nike bands can last a lifetime. The 'junk' on eBay is in a different league and made of silicon. I have owned one and it is thinner and much poorer quality.

Where'd you hear that from?

My almost-a-year old S3 Nike band is in 100% perfect shape (the black one, not fabric).

I own no other bands, so this has been through many workouts, lots of showers, all sorts of swimming (pool/lake/ocean), and all sorts of home improvement projects & so forth.

Hasn't seemed to stretch out either, still on the same "hole" as when I began.

Amazing news! A seller in a local non Apple retail store told me not to go for an Nike edition for this reason. But I plan to buy the Nike edition especially now I know that the durability is so good..

I have the Nike Series 2, and for 10 years was a loyal Nike+ user. But the NRC app is a steaming pile of garbage on the watch.

I really like the "exclusive" Nike watch faces. However, one of the complications is dedicated permanently to the NRC app. Since I no longer use the app, I wish there was a way to change that complication to something else. But there isn't.

i really like those colorful clock themes by Nike advertised on apples website. That’s the only reason I’m considering Nike if I have to be honest.

So, what are the Pro and cons? What features am I giving up if I go with Nike? And what am I missing out on besides clock themes if I go with the standard sports watch?

Also, I’m considering getting the loop band, is it more comfortable and still waterproof for washing hands or swimming? I currently have the silicone space grey sports band. It doesn’t feel nice around my wrist, which is very thin. It pulls on my wrist hairs and feels sticky at times. I always have the urge to take it off.

you're not giving up anything by going with nike, in fact you get extra from the nike.

But why wouldn’t everyone get Nike then? There must be a particular reason or more to it. Is it because they don’t want that Nike logo attached on the back?

The only reason im waiting for the Nike is to get the reflective band. I also think the silver looks great with the white sportsband. :)

I'm getting the Nike version to get the black loop without all the multicolor to it.

Many of us have serious issues with Nike that are not supposed to be discussed in a non-political thread. Go to the Politics area if you are interested.

For me I have a Nike S3 so I have the band. Don't care about the faces and not willing to wait. If the Nike was available today I would be all over it. But it's not so no big loss.

Also this is one of the few examples that you can have premium features added for NO extra charge.

If you're already wanting an aluminum AW and like the bands, there are no cons to going with the Nike version, other than the wait.

The Nike version has exclusive watch faces and the Nike Volt color can be used on several of the non-Nike watch faces. Whether you like these things or not is up to you but there is nothing taken away from the standard AW.

The single hardware-related difference is a small Nike logo on the back, where all the other text is.
