Techno hate is an interesting phenomena

I use a MBA, an iPhone 4S, an iPad 1
But I have NEVER pushed them on anyone... family, coworkers... nobody
And yet I have family and coworkers who will chide me and razz me for being a fanboy

I was sitting at lunch this week... in a mall food court... reading on my iPad
An older gentleman approached me and started railing on Apple, the iPad and iOS
I was startled and really didn't know how to respond at first
He went on to inform me he was a computer expert and he knew what he was talking about... blah, blah, blah
All because I was reading on my iPad... silly really

I merely said his point of view was debatable, to which he challenged me to debate him right there
I laughed at him and left... all the while wondering what would cause a person to approach a stranger and seek to harass them
I would NEVER think of approaching someone using any device and challenge their choices and decisions
I don't do it with my own family and friends, and I certainly wouldn't do it to a stranger

Not sure why we can't just all get along :)

You know what's funny... you usually don't see an Apple user doing that to a Windows or Android user... is usually all the way around. It's like they have the need to let us know they hate Apple products. I mean, who cares what you buy.. it's your money and you do with it what you please.

That's why I laugh when my friends came to me with their iPhone hater comments.. it's so dumb!!!

It's simple: die hard fans are immature. This refers to Apple fans, Sony fans, just anyone.

Criticizing for no reason is immature. However, having a critic attitude is not, so if you don't understand why an Android user would hate iOS, it's legitimate for the Android user wondering why you hate Android.
Well, I don't hate android... I just don't like it but I don't hate it.

I can understand someone choosing to use one OS over another
I can understand someone preferring one OS and eco system over another
I can understand someone enjoying the user experience of one OS over another

I don't really understand why someone would "hate" another OS
I suppose if they were forced to use it (I have to use Windows at work), that might be different

I don't hate Android... I am totally indifferent towards Android
It is irrelevant in my life
I have no reason to hate it

You have to get out of your Apple fanboy mentality and see that it's possible to hate the iPhone, as not everybody is hopelessly in love with it as you are.

Also, you have to realize that "Why would anybody hate the iPhone?" is a question that only a hopeless fanboy would ask. It's an immature, thoughtless question that you should be ashamed of asking.

Seems like a valid question to me
Why hate the iPhone?
If you choose not to use one... fine
But hate the iPhone?
What does the iPhone do to someone who doesn't use it to warrant hating it?

I had a similar thing happen, but it was a cashier in a grocery store. Funniest part is that at that time, I didn't have an iPhone, I had the Evo 4G, so he was really clueless. He eventually got fired for doing that to customers.

I had a 3GS back when they first came out, my boyfriend had a blackberry storm. He hated on my iPhone all the time! "your phone sucks... Blah blah blah". He has now been the proud owner of an iPhone 4 and a 4s. In fact I can't get him to put it down half the time.

It totally a users preference. I prefer Apple products, as I own 2 macs, an ipad2 and have gone through the lineup of iPhones. I left AT&T after my 3GS because of their service and used an android on Verizon prior to the Verizon iPhone last February. I feel like Android is comparable to iOS but its just not for me.

My point is is that it is 100% what YOU prefer. Your friends or anyone else aren't going to be using your phone, you are.

I don't hate the iPhone, but with everything there is a large amount of room for improvement.

Nobody actually "hates" the iPhone. They just think its inferior to other phones, which is fine.

To get a professional answer to your question, the phone book has a number of Phd's that specialize in mental behavior :D

I agree that hating a phone (or an OS, or any gadget anyway) is something difficult to imagine, but lots of (mostly young) people are convinced theirs is actually hate -- that's a spread, and ridiculous as well, attitude indeed.

In my previous post I meant "dislike", not really "hate". You can dislike Android, but the Android user can dislike iOS, because none is perfect and each one has its features. Isn't it obvious?

It annoys me, it's just a phone, why do people feel the need to love or hate it.
Sometimes it's the attitude of some Apple product owners that draws the hate though I think. Like I've got a friend who posts almost daily facebook status updates about how much he loves his iPad and his 4S!

I don't hate the iPhone. I dislike some of the users that attitudes of many of them offend me because many of them sound like snobs and groupies who think they are better than someone because of a device.

I will consider an iPhone in 2013 possibly after I see how it compares to what android has done by then. 6 years as a droid user by then, I wanna see if I'm missing anything of course the iPad might hold me over so I may not want an iPhone.

@Sdahe

Why dont you try the Android for a while, lets say for a month, and then come back and post your experience with Android. Would be more realistic, dont you think?:D

If someone is happy with a product/service why should they be required to try something else? That's like catching an attitude with Windows users cause they never gave OSX a try and vice versa.

Now if someone is talking trash, that's a differ story.

You are taking my thread out of context. First I'm not an Apple Fan boy.. I'm seeing this in another point of view... more into the marketing and the product perse. I'm just wondering why would you hate something that is not bad at all. I think that hating something without any reason is what makes you a fanboy of what you have. I'm not ashamed of asking... thanks for your useless comment anyway.

you did choose these people as your friends ... just try to tolerate them :apple:
Well, nobody is my friend really... I just know them and call them friends

Hahahahahaha/..yeah, that must be really annoying :D

well if they are not friends ... tell them to ****off
Hahahahahahaha... I'll do that next time... :D

The part in bold is where your thinking is flawed. To some people, Apple's walled garden and lack of customization is bad. You should learn to think outside your own box.

Why would anybody hate the iPhone
I can give you about a dozen reasons, but they all revolve around the fact that the iPhone operates on a closed operating system.

Once I own a $200+ device, I demand to be able to use it however I want, not in whatever narrow parameters the manufacturer has dictated.

most people don't actually hate the device itself. its the stereotypical Apple users and their air of "i'm better and cooler than you" that generally rub people the wrong way

My only dislike of the iPhone is its popularity and how Apple gouges people for the privilege of owning and being seen with such a high status gadget.

That said, I would like to take the opportunity to thank all those PC using iPhone owners for making Apple the highly viable company it is today.

I hate it when they do that. I had a similar experience when this lady came to me and said:
Lady: Whoa, is that an iPad?
Me: Yes. Why?
Lady: That's sad
Me: Excuse me?
Lady: (walks away)

Then buy something that lets you do that'
