Some people even think it cost more on a plan for some reason.

it certainly does in the UK.

galaxy S2 - £27 p/m - free phone

iphone 4s - £41 p/m - free phone

Thats 50% more expensive

i guess this was a major reason why the s2 outsold the 4s in the last quarter in the UK

Both have pros and cons.

Things I have a problem with. These are things that jail breaking could fix but this is a work phone so I'm unable to jailbreak it plus it's a 4s.

Auto correct is terrible in comparison. Example my screen name was supposed to be cynicx but I didn't catch it my fault I suppose.

You can't switch keyboards.

Browsers in android are more computer like. In ios it can get you by but you won't be replacing you computers. Example with android you can set the ui string to desktop and browse the Internet with flash an all.

Apps in the android market are less expensive more often.

Android apps are smaller in size. I was surprised when I noticed how large apples apps are.

No LTE however I agree with apples assessment on the LTE radios being crap.

Android apps can control the os if given permission. So apps can have a lot more flexibility and power. You can also replace a lot of things because of that. Keyboards, dialers, etc.

Widgets

Maybe this is just a preference but I hate iTunes and I feel like I'm forced to use it.

You can't just download apps from the Internet. You have to use the app store and your options are pretty limited if jailbroken.

Apples copy of androids notification isn't quite there yet.

Android multitask better. Example load a web page in safari and scroll the page constantly before it's done loading. It will freeze until you stop. Android will continue to load.

There is plenty Apple has going for it too. Amazing camera, very stable os, apps tend to work more often, etc

Different strokes for different folks. I like both but as you can see there are plenty of reasons I would prefer android.

My post looks like a troll post esp. for my first post but I can assure you I enjoy both android and iOS.

Techno hate is an interesting phenomena

I use a MBA, an iPhone 4S, an iPad 1
But I have NEVER pushed them on anyone... family, coworkers... nobody
And yet I have family and coworkers who will chide me and razz me for being a fanboy

I was sitting at lunch this week... in a mall food court... reading on my iPad
An older gentleman approached me and started railing on Apple, the iPad and iOS
I was startled and really didn't know how to respond at first
He went on to inform me he was a computer expert and he knew what he was talking about... blah, blah, blah
All because I was reading on my iPad... silly really

I merely said his point of view was debatable, to which he challenged me to debate him right there
I laughed at him and left... all the while wondering what would cause a person to approach a stranger and seek to harass them
I would NEVER think of approaching someone using any device and challenge their choices and decisions
I don't do it with my own family and friends, and I certainly wouldn't do it to a stranger

Not sure why we can't just all get along :)

People like that irritate the hell out of me. Most likely he has never used an Apple product. Almost down to a person, every person who hates Apple products has never used them. Ever. However, when I say I hate Android or any other OS, it's because I've used them. But to harrass a total stranger is beyond what I could tolerate.

Being a retired Sailor, he wouldn't want to hear my response. I can use colorful metaphors pretty well.

I think we've grown very spoiled if we can hate any of these fantastic smartphone OSes.. Everybody has their preference, but I'm sure we could all get by on any of the three main ones (wp7, iOS, android). :p

Hmm on the back of my iPad I have I sticker of a man throwing litter in the bin, much like what you see on the back of crisp packets or drinks bottles, but instead of litter there is the android logo. I have to say I'm one of those people who mock android, but its more of a joke, I would never go up to a stranger and question him on what OS he is using! Any way andriod mock us more!
I also think bouth android and IOS are usefull in everyday things like surfing the web and sending emails, it's i just think IOS is better.:apple:

Get by? No, there's no getting by unless the ONLY thing you want to do is make a phone call. I couldn't get by on either Android or WP7.

You have the people who hate on the iPhone (and often Apple in general) just to hate; no rhyme or reason, other than just to go against what others do and for the sake of drama, regardless of whether or not it's a good phone.

Then you have the crowd that can't afford an iPhone or a Mac (usually the younger ones) so out of jealousy they act like they hate it and that it's a bad product. (For those familiar with psych terminology, this is classic reaction formation behavior.)

Lastly, there are the non-believers – generally tending to be the less technically-inclined crowd – who don't think it's possible for the iPhone or Apple's products to really be "that good." Most of them have never even really used one. Common phrasing includes, "Look what I can do! I bet your iPhone can't!"

Android ICS is just a more complex and a more attractive option.

iOS haven't changed much since the beginning but Android has come a lot of how the interface looked in cupcake to now.

Hello,

Almost all my friends use Android phones and they are always giving me their iphone hater attitude. Why would anybody hate the iPhone... I mean, this is a great product. It has an amazing camera, the OS runs silky smooth, there are hundreds of free apps, the warranty is great, the customer service at Apple is very good... damn!... what else do they want to not hate this thing?...

I just want to share my feeling about all this people that hate the iPhone without any reason at all... I don't know.. I'm just thinking loud here.

What do you think?
The iPhone is polarizing because:

(1) Tech attracts a lot of nerds, and that's how nerds are.
(2) It's "cool" to hate on Apple, regardless of how blind that hatred is. It's like the Justin Bieber and Beats by Dr. Dre hate - a lot of the haters have never even listened to them, and if they did, their hate is over-reactive.

Take for example, the downvotes this post will receive!

Just like any other dumb argument. Apple vs pc, Xbox vs playstation. I actually met a guy that was pro marks anti Lionel with model trains.

It's nice to meet people that can appreciate both. Fanboys are impossible to talk to unless it's about what they like.

I don't hate any phone, computer, or any other inanimate object. Nor do I find them sexy looking, or love them, as so many say about the iPhone.

Come to think of it, I don't hate anything.

Hate is a negative wasted emotion.

how can anyone mock the iPhone? sure you can disagree with how the OS works but it's not a half assed product like most Android phones that are built in crappy low quality plastic, really poor standards there... they all come with these amazing spec microprocessors yet they always score lower against the new iPhone on the block...

it's a way of people trying to justify their purchase/preference

Because people have nothing better to do. Really. One way or another people are opinionated about things, and their position is right and there is no way you are going to change it.

If you go to a Mustang forum, they ask why to the Camaro boys hate mustangs, and vice versa.

Every once in a while you'll find a true tech lover. I define that as someone who Is drawn to tech because of a love for tech not for some rational love for a device or brand.

This year is actually the first year I've owned an iPhone because frankly I have a stronger tie/loyalty to my carrier than I do to handset manufactures. But I've used iPods, iPod touches, and iPads over the past few years and know ow well the iOS Eco system works.

I do not hate good sound quality.

Just listened to some songs on a friend's galaxy nexus and the sound quality compared to even the iPhone 4 using the same headphones (non-stock of course) and stock settings (no eq) was underwhelming. Apart from the galaxy s, I have not had good music quality from most current smartphones. It is really a pity because I listen to ton of music on the go and the iPhone sadly keeps on top so far.

I agree and so does Bill Yeats;

W B Yeats said:
Considering that, all hatred driven hence,
The soul recovers radical innocence
And learns at last that it is self-delighting,
Self-appeasing, self-affrighting,
And that its own sweet will is Heaven's will;
She can, though every face should scowl
And every windy quarter howl
Or every bellows burst, be happy still.

I'd love an iPhone. I'm just waiting for the price to come down.

Does anybody else think that the Xbox logo looks like a sphincter? :p

Re:Why would you hate the iPhone? Reload this Page

You shouldn't worry about your friends likes or dislikes.
Its you to decide whether you like Android phone or not. and if you are an admirer of Iphone then just flaunt your Iphone ;)

Jealousy could be a valid reason, but most often trolling is the reason. You should consider not finding your friends under bridges.

Yes you could. Stop being a fanboy/drama queen.

Okay, the use of the word fanboy has to end. It makes you sound ignorant and immature. And I think I have more of a right to speak my mind here since I have actually used all the operating systems in questions. Now stop being an android fanboy.
