Anyone hear any more news for Best Buy getting them? Their times haven't slipped. Still shows "April 23rd-May".. sounds better than Apple's timing. I ordered one from them on Friday, but order status hasn't changed.

What concerns me is the usually ships in 1-2 weeks statement

I would prefer if I say some slippage as that would dictate some accuracy

I think I see you on the Best Buy forum, too. I just asked on there about shipping - if they ship from Apple direct. Would kind of make sense. I don't see the timing being too much different than Apple direct. Just whether gets sent direct to us or if Apple sends to Best Buy first.

Actually, my Best Buy order status just changed from "Backordered" to "Preparing Order." I've heard that some people's changed back and forth, but mine has never shown that. Here's hoping.

I have not pulled up my order since I placed it and just did and it moved to. I am still hoping that maybe the local store gets one in early

I will be checking best buys website daily. My gut tells me the store will have it in stock before my online order is fulfilled. I think Fry's will be the same way. They only have the option for in store pickup, and I expect it to be in stores next week.

Checked mine again, and it's back to "backordered"... what a ****** system. It's 2015, you think it'd be simple to display the correct status.

They probably have to toggle the status so the authorization hold on your card is not lifted, causing the order to cancel.

Yeah,
Of the times I have checked my order status, it has changed back and forth 5 times.
Currently on Preparing Order.

I couldn't not order one. I can't use the non retina screen on the air. Just kills it for me. Paid 1239 after tax with the 10% coupon mine says back ordered with a possible delivery April 23rd (fingers crossed). Not the best deal but I need retina. Now I need to unload 3 MacBooks I have sitting around here.

If Apple is having problem getting them, don't expect Best Buy to be getting them sooner. Those of us who ordered from Apple early April 10th are already getting them in 3 days. The fact it says "backordered" would concern me. Jumped on chat to see what they said and just like I thought. You aren't guaranteed to get it in that time frame, if something comes up, they will email you and let you know. We'll see what happens.

Well bestbuy could have their own allotment they are pulling from. I'm sure apple gives them "x" amount of units. I actually expect best buy to have them in store this coming week. I also would not be surprised to see the Apple Store with stock in the stores.

Same as iPhones. You may order online and it says 2-3 weeks, but the stores get stock a few times a week.

If that happens you just cancel your online order and pick it up in store.

I remember in the past imacs slipping to 1-3 weeks and then back to 1-3 days a few days later.

No offense, but this is kind of meaningless. Obviously the rep knows nothing.

On another note, I called two local Best Buys today. BOTH of them said their computer showed "in stock" day as today, so they both think they should be getting some next shipment. They said possibly tomorrow if direct from Apple (like iPhones) or Wednesday if on their normal shipment. She said they wouldn't be showing today's date if they weren't on their way.

If Apple stores can't get them, Best Buy certainly isn't going to get them sooner. My Best Buy said not until April 22nd at the very earliest. Obviously the employees you spoke to know nothing.

A lot of us think the apple stores will have them in stock middle of this week. People who selected in store pick up are getting notifications for 4/15 or 4/16 (cannot remember). Say 100 people picked ship to store, they will get the first 100. The others will go to walk ins or people who pick store pick up that day. The ones who picked ship to house will not randomly get a notification they are in store.

In other words, it may say 4-6 weeks online right now, but that does not mean the stores will not get them for 4-6 weeks. People seem to "think" online orders will be filled first, but this is not going to be the case. The online orders who picked ship to store may be filled first.

I did this with an iPad mini. I ordered online and it said 2-4 weeks, but I was able to get one in store just 2 days later. There is never any rhyme or reason to apple's stock.

A more recent example: the rMBP and MBAs that were announced as updated at the Spring Forward event were available "TODAY" according to the screen, which was true as far as ordering went. However, physical inventory showed up for sale in the local B&M stores here first thing Wednesday morning, or two business days after first online availability. If that pattern repeats here, there should be at least limited inventory available for sale in B&M stores on Tuesday or Wednesday.

On the other hand, one Apple CS rep told me on the phone that definitely nothing would be in the stores until 4/24. So...who knows. It will be what it will be.

I can only think the CS reps are given to little no information about availability of products. Even the people working in the stores rarely know.

Yes, and I think there's a lot of confusion between the Watch rollout and the rMB launch.

Right. Does my preorder for my launch date watch really mean it ships 4/24 haha. Who would have though 4/10 meant the day you could basically preorder the MacBook.

my online best buy order for a 1.1 256GB SG has routinely gone from preparing, to backordered to preparing and so on and so on

Yeah, mine keeps switching now. Don't see the point in that. Someone said to hold the credit card charge, but that's not how that works.

Can you only order the 1.3 processor through Apple? I would like to get one through Best Buy instead.

My order has also gone from backordered to preparing. I haven't been obsessively checking though.

I've been waiting for a new computer for a while. Waiting a little longer (and saving some cash) isn't a bad thing. It'll get here soon enough!

I work in computers at the Best Buy in Mission Viejo, CA. I spoke to our Apple rep while we were checking our systems.

We are getting around a total of around 10 MacBooks early tomorrow morning via FedEx. 3 (space grey, gold, silver) are going on display at our Apple booth. The other 7 or so are going to be in stock for sale. We don't know what colors they are going to be or 256gb's or 512gb's.

There's only a total of 50 stores that Apple is shipping units to for sale, and ours happens to be one of them (only a total of 10 units notwithstanding). Our Apple rep said they are trying to see which stores are going to be selling the fastest and thus getting future units first.
