I can't see any spot on mine but there is a slight book spine effect at the top of the screen on my 6s+. It's most noticeable above the battery mark. BUT I'm keeping it because I went through three iPad airs for issues and finally ended up with a uniform screen with slight book spine effect. And what I found is that in the almost 2 years since I've had the book spine affected iPad I've barely noticed it. I basically forgot about it after the first couple of weeks. So for those with slight book spine effect only, I'd say don't be hasty to trade in, because it can get a lot, lot worse and worse is splotches and uneven colouring on your screen. That's the pits - splotches and uneven screen colouring.

I exchanged my 6S+ today because the home button stopped working. Totally stopped. A reboot didn't help and I couldn't do a hard reset due to having no home button...

Anyway, my replacement still has this screen blotch/pressure point but it isn't very bad at all. Barely noticeable, but it's there nonetheless. I have a semi-loose mute switch but aside from that all seems well. No other screen faults, yellowing, or scratches anywhere on the phone. It seems impossible to get a perfect iPhone. You'd need to buy ten, try them all out over a few days and then take nine of them back for a refund...

Mine's going back for a refund. I tried watching a few videos on it and it's quite noticeable, even on different orientations.

I tried an Apple support chat session but ended up talking to Apple U.S. for some reason but it wasn't clear at all what my options were. Back to the 6 Plus for me for the foreseeable future, I think.

A pretty disappointing experience.

Bummer. The only thing with the replacements is, once they are refurbs, they aren't great.

I have replaced my iPhone 5, after two years, the battery went out and took out the rest of the phone. Apple, on a recall, for the battery, replaced my phone, with a white box, made November, less than one month before the exchange. It's exactly the same as my old phone, performance wise etc. No issues that I could tell.

Second phone replacement. I dropped my iPhone 6+ within a week of getting it. The replacement, white box, was better than my original. I also had AppleCare+

So I can't say that replacement phones are not as good as new... In many ways there is no difference, because the replacement is new.

At the moment, that may not be the case, but it was at the time I did my exchanges.

I also got a phenomenal iPhone 5 replacement a couple years back. And any 6S white box right now should be brand new units.

I think there is something with the now year old iPhone 6 models, maybe are reusing more components than they did in the past because I can see where they refinish the aluminum case to cover up marks and whatnot. In light, you can see repair jobs, and I've seen this on two. The repair is very good, but not like a new phone.

Yup, For the 4,4S and 5 it was awful. The 5S I never replaced once. My original 6 was awesome but every replacement has been horrible because the screen clicks in the lower right corner.

So, with nearly every iPhone you've purchased, you've made multiple returns because of "defects"? It's apparent the problem here is not the phone!

I'm talking about apple replacements. 4 because of yellow tinted screen. 4S because of reception issues. 5 with scratches and chips out the box. 6 with a loose screen.

Uh no. The problem is not me. It's the phone. Would you accept a 800$ device where the screen is loose? Outta here.

the suction might work, but i don't see how it won't go back into place with pressing. If its as easy as a suction cup fix then it will eventually loosen up on its own.

On one hand we have the "suction cup fix" used by some, which is lifting the screen a little. The assumption being the blotch is caused by the screen being pressed at the back by some component.

On the other we have the "massage" where some have massaged and applied pressure to the screen to remove the blotch, with claimed success.

How can both work?

You know, if I still had my 6S Plus, I would try something else. My 6S had a little darkness in the corner, barely noticeable unless you looked hard for it, but I wanted to get it out.

I don't have a suction cup at my immediate disposal, so I took a cloth between my finger and the screen, and I just sort of started massaging toward the edge with a little bit of pressure, not too much. Now it seems to have dissipated a little, and actually appears slightly brighter!

Maybe it's my imagination, but I swear it looks better
. I didn't try it with the Plus because I thought there was an internal component actually pressing on the screen.

I swear if that works I'm going to kick myself for exchanging the Plus.

How's it looking now? Still better?

I've tried both the suction cup and screen massage approaches but unfortunately, it hasn't made any difference on mine.

Incidentally, today I had lunch with an Android-using friend (a Sony phone user) and he knew that I had a problem of some sort with my phone but not what. I handed over my phone for him to take a look at and he spotted the shadowy bit on the screen immediately.

If you have that many problems with the phone, why do you keep buying it? I certainly wouldn't pay $800 to continue to have issues and deal with returns. Sounds masochistic.

Selling the previous iPhone pretty much offsets the price. Paid 812$ for my 6s and sold my sim free 6 in China for 750$ cash.

Plus a jailbroken iPhone beats any phone.

At the time of ownership my iPhone 6S Silver 128G had the screen problem. It had Blue in the top left corner and yellow/brown in the top right corner. This problem is caused by to much pressure. I also, had audio problems, and touch response problems.

I went to the Apple store and found a few that had the screen problem, mostly 6S models. The brightness was maxed out, but as soon as it was put to 3/4 it was easily noticeable and at 1/2 it was just terrible. Some were worse than others. I managed to find 2 that look almost perfect. The few iPhone 6S Plus models I checkout were pretty much perfect (except one).

A few phones were not functioning properly at all. Screen freeze and black screen of death and unresponsive!

When I first came up to the Apple store doors, I was like OMG! Really! It was packed. So, I went to checkout other iPhones. Well, I found out most of the people at the store were waiting to see a genius. Most of the sales people were just standing around with nothing to do. One guy came in pretty mad. It was his 3 time and his second Mac Book replacement. He was not happy. I seen several unhappy people get new iPhones replacements (New! As new in the box).

I sent my phone back! Sad, because I was waiting for the 2G update...

Not sure even buying ten will yield you a "perfect" iPhone...IMO there is no such thing. What looks perfect to one person might not be to another so that is very subjective. Point in case being...Just enjoy the damn phone and quit worrying and looking for issues.

So how would this impact resale value 2 to 4 years from now? Will this be a problem?

I was at an Apple Store yesterday and checked several 6s pluses and they all had the slight shadowy spot including the replacement I just got.

For me personally, it's because the competition kinda sucks. I've definitely had my fair share of problems

Only iPhones I've owned which didn't need replacements was my 5S. And currently the 6S, though it's too early to say whether that'll remain the case.

My first 3GS had a mute switch fail (would constantly mute and unmute).
Replacement's camera eventually rendered everything in pink
The replacement for that one did the exact same thing before I even walked out of the store
The final replacement was okay

My iPhone 4's microphone stopped working. And it of course had the antenna issue like all of them.

My iPhone 4S's WiFi stopped working (it became grayed out and persisted through restores)

First iPhone 6+ had a misaligned screen. Second one had dust under the display

Just opened my 64gb gold 6S+ tonight & I have it. It's not something I EVER would have noticed if I hadn't seen this thread! But luckily mine isn't severe and I don't notice it during regular use or find it distracting at all. Still kind of wish I'd never read this though, ha!

My pressure spot, "SHOT ME IN THE FACE"

It wasn't subtle at all. However since then, it's less noticeable... I tried to rub it out and it's faded quite a bit. I am almost thinking, it's going to be gone completely soon.

Got the phone on Wednesday. Yesterday and today were full day of use. If I am not looking for it, I won't find it, but I know it's still there.

That first glance. It was devastating, how striking it was.

THERE IS A FIX:
MASSAGING DOES WORK, if done properly. YMMV. The more you do, the more it fixes. It took me about 70+ massages in total to get it to almost disappear.

I was skeptical at first when I saw a few people mentioned it earlier. I tried it, and didn't work. But I realized I massaged incorrectly. I was massaging on the spot.

The trick is NOT to massage at the spot itself, but to the right of it. So with your dark spot on the lower left, massage it to the right of it. If you are triggering the multitasking menu from 3D Touch, then you need to move your massage spot further right. Try massaging it from down to up, up to down, further and further away.

Treat it like you are pushing the bubbles out to the edge of the screen protector. You don't directly massage on top of the bubble, you push from the side of it and slowly massage it out.

It has greatly reduced my pressure point now, though if you look closely it's still there. It's almost night and day difference. Hope this helps!
