THERE IS A FIX:
MASSAGING DOES WORK, if done properly. YMMV.

I was skeptical at first when I saw a few people mentioned it earlier. I tried it, and didn't work. But I realized I massaged incorrectly. I was massaging on the spot.

The trick is NOT to massage at the spot itself, but to the right of it. So with your dark spot on the lower left, massage it to the right of it. If you are triggering the multitasking menu from 3D Touch, then you need to move your massage spot further right. Try massaging it from down to up, up to down, further and further away.

Treat it like you are pushing the bubbles out to the edge of the screen protector. You don't directly massage on top of the bubble, you push from the side of it and slowly massage it out.

It has greatly reduced my pressure point now. It's almost night and day difference. Hope this helps!

How hard?

Don't just massage it, that won't work. You've got to set the mood: put on some Kenny G, light some candles, unscrew that box of wine. Then, and only then, should you start gently kneading your beloved phone in alternating clockwise and counterclockwise patterns.

Anyone have before and after pictures?

Satisfied for the most part with the 6S, but whenever I see my 6 Plus in the drawer, I really miss the larger size.

I think I might owe dL a drink.

I've been doing El Capitan installs today and watching the rugby, so I've had quite a bit of free time. I've been trying the screen massage as noted by dL and yes, it's definitely made a difference. It has taken a lot (and I mean that) of time to do this, though.

The shadow is still there but I now have to look for it and it might just have made the difference between keeping the phone and returning it. I'm withholding judgement until I've tried some usage under different lighting conditions but yes, this looks to have helped at the moment.

Sadly, I didn't take any photos as I wasn't really expecting it to help, if I'm honest!

For those who can't see it, you have to have better lighting so you can see the slight contrast shift.

I couldn't see any issues in any of the pictures last night while I was in bed. I can see them all pretty clearly now, and I can see the issue on my own phone.

I won't be exchanging it though, it's not really a defect in my opinion.

Does this work for the screen inconsistencies like the darker corner issue on the iphone 6? I’ve done my best to ignore it, but it’s always there. From what was described in this thread, both issues seem similar.

OLED screens suffer from dead pixels too, and although burn-in is improving with Samsung displays it still happens. I dare say that no screen tech is perfect but Apple products do seem to suffer more than most. I've got a Samsung tablet and the LCD display is perfect. So either Foxconn's QC is lousy, or Apple sources very cheap screens...

I did a word cloud of some of this thread. You would think this is a porn site:

So some good news I went to apple today and they are going to replace my iPhone due to the issue I posted pictures a couple posts back. But they didn't have any replacement 64gb silver 6s+ in stock so I have to wait till Monday or Tuesday also when I was there it seemed like all of the white face iPhones had the pressure point problem and the problems in the corners but the black face none at all very weird I took pictures of some of them 1st pic below was a rose gold one and the second was of a space grey one

i have a tank of a case and tempered glass cover. 3D Touch still works, but massaging is not as easy. It's still getting less noticeable, day by day. So I think it's not a defect specifically, but a manufacturing effect.

I still might take it in.

I refunded my phone today; I was sad to part ways with it, but I couldn't accept this defect or any of the others present on my phone (wavy effect at top, uneven tint, etc.)

I'm surprised that after 9 generations of iPhone, QC is still this bad.

WOW! Get that replaced ASAP.
I did. lol

I was at my job and looked down at my phone and half the backlighting went out. I went in, had to wait two hours for an appointment, got a text that I was ready, took break from my job, waited another fifty minutes for them to do the exchange. They would NOT let me out of the store until I did a restore from backup, which I said I don't want to do because 99% of the time I restore, something goes wrong. He told me I had to, so I did. After like an hour and a half total, I left the store and no messaging was working. Did a factory restore like I wanted to, and everything works again.

I HATE restoring from backup, it's so dumb and something goes wrong.

Once you see that dark spot you can never go back.

A few days ago I was so happy with my iPhone and now I can't even look at it. Every time I pick up I phone I am reminded what a soiled piece of garbage I hold in my hand. Every time I try to use it I find myself staring at that stupid blemish on the screen. As soon as Apple fixes this I'm going to get a replacement, even if I have to snap my phone in half and use my apple care.

Uh...I was kidding. You missed the obvious flaw in my screen.
