Mine was returned today, but not solely for the screen defect. We shot some 4K video this morning and then while playing the video back the phone stuttered and got quite warm. I've never seen an iPhone do this.

So wife and I went back to the mall and of course no replacements so I am back on my trusty 6+. The sales attendant did notice the blemish as well.

I'm going to wait until that time in the future when all of this has passed and the demo units in the stores are blemish free before trying again.

It appears most of early builds has this. I'm on my first replacement. I noticed the blemish last week so I returned it. I had no idea there's already this thread discussing this and made me realize how widespread this issue is. While waiting, I did check a couple of demos and they have it. Some not as noticeable. My replacement has it still. My replacement does have much whiter and brighter screen. Even more vivid than some of the demos I compared to. I also noticed the battery is much better than the previous phone. Now it's a Samsung and previous phone was TSMC. Lol go figure. I don't really care about the cpu, I'm more concern of screen defects.

I called Apple Care and they recommended to exchange the phone again on Monday. But based on what I read, chances are the replacement will have it. I will probably go and compare the new replacement with what I have now. If the issue persists, I might opt to keep what I have now and wait to exchange it in few months. At lease, they will have it documented.

I really don't want to risk not getting a bright white screen.

You might try 20 devices until you find one with a perfect screen...but then it will have a loose power button or something. If you can live with your phone, ie if it has no serious defects, then keep it. My display isn't perfect; it has the 'binding' thing at the top and a very faint blotch/pressure mark on the lower left of the display, but it's an overall perfectly acceptable phone. It's just stressful, embarrassing and a butt-load of hassle to keep exchanging phones.

Yes I'm leaning towards keeping this now. If any, I'll just have them document that I will try again down the line for an exchange.

You are so right. I went through that replacement loop back when I first got the iPhone 4. At the end, I never got what I was looking for. Every replacement introduced a new defect. It was just a waste of energy and time. Along with the fact that it is very embarrassing having to keep returning the phone that most people will not even bother or notice.

Don't get me wrong, a serious defect would have me marching down to the Apple store straightaway but knowing mass-produced items as I do and the fact that the price seems to have little bearing on this, I would know when to say 'stick' and not keep on 'twisting'. It can turn into a nightmare. You're thinking that one more exchange should do it but when you walk out with that replacement you're oblivious to the fact that you'll be doing it again tomorrow...and the next day...and the day after.

Most will have this lower left blotch/pressure point but some have additional yellow screen defects, loose buttons, dodgy home buttons and inferior batteries etc. I know that it shouldn't be this way but chasing iPhone perfection is a very stressful and time consuming endeavour.

Very well said and it is the truth.

I exchange mine today for a sim free iPhone 6s plus no blemish at all. I check their displays all of them except one had it.

The Apple employee was amazed how many of them had the blemish.

The fact that the 6S Plus is out of stock everywhere for the most part until basically late October is good news to me, hopefully the next wave of phones made will address stuff like this, or god forbid make sure there's a TSMC chip in every phone. =P

Retail stock is out yes. But replacement white box is a separate stock and some stores have them. I got mine replace this past Friday.

I have along with some other people in this thread. Most have shared they experience, read through.

I have and only saw where folks got thier phone replaced not just the screen. It seems like the geniuses don't want to bother replacing the screen.

Sorry I missed that. But no Apple is not doing screen replacements yet. Normally it takes a few Meeks or months before they start doing in-store screen replacements. They just replace the phone for the time being.

so having noticed that the right hand side edge of the screen on my 6S plus is slightly blue (its like a 3mm stripe of bluer white running down the edge of the screen - I believe the term is 'book spine effect') I've become minority obsessed with 6S plus screens! Having looked at about 20 phones on display (across 3 of London's Apple stores) I can conclude:

I've just bought 2 week37 Gold iPhone 6s Plus's and they too have this blue stripe down the right hand side. Identical on both. IMO, the chance of have 2 phones with the same 'fault' is very slim.

As much as I'm not happy not having a uniform screen, I think this is just characteristic of the screens in the Plus and they will all have them to some extent.

I've noticed that on my last 2 6S Plus's as well. But my sim-free model does not exhibit this "Book Spine" issue.

So I have a replacement iPhone 6s plus silver 64 gb and the top has light bleeding and the damn blotch I'm still in my 20 day window so its going back until hopefully this gets somewhat resolved in future revisions.

1st SG 6S+ (UK Sim-free): faint pressure point blemish in bottom left corner, obvious blue stripe down right side of screen
2nd SG 6S+ (UK Sim-free): more pronounced pressure point blemish, no blue stripe.

So I ended up exchanging it to give it one last try. I was prepared to move on and just keep the replacement regardless if the blemish existed or not. I ended up getting one with a much less noticeable blemish. You really have to look for it to see. Prior one was very noticeable. I'm happy now and keeping this one. The genius was also very nice and saw the blemish right away. He even offered to replace the replacement right away if the issue persisted.

I just took a trip to another Apple Store. Every display model except one (silver) had the blemish to varying degrees. Some were quite obvious and others you really had to play with the brightness and look hard to see it. An Apple employee approached me and asked if I needed any help. Once I explained the blotch she was very surprised and cooperative. Unlike the majority of Apple employees I've spoken with she could actually see the blemishes and didn't know what to make of it, she told me they had not been informed of it by Apple.

My guess would be Apple do not see this as an issue as the majority of customers will not have the eyesight to notice it, neither their staff for that matter.

If this is caused by a pressure point and some screens have it more pronounced than others I believe we might be able to fix this by lifting the screen slightly o_O

I wonder if anyone has tried lifting the screen up a bit. And of course a few pics would be nice. Yup, I have the blotch too, but not the courage to poke around..... :)

It exist in most. Some not as noticeable. With enough returns and documented exchanges, I'm sure Apple will correct it in few months. It's probably best to go to Apple and have them document your blemish. That way you can easily get it replaced later if you choose to wait it out.
