Sometimes the perception that a screen is better, can be due to the colour temperature being more blue (albeit less accurate), the brightness being higher or the glass simply being cleaner. I saw three iPhone 6 (not s) side by side, and everyone of them had a different brightness at the same brightness slider setting and all different colour temperatures. It is really hard to compare one against another unless you can eliminate some of these variables.

Has anyone got a screenshot of the blue book spine thing that people are talking about? I can't comprehend what this is although I know I don't have it because other than a very minor version of the blemish referred to in this thread, the screen is pretty much perfectly uniform.

Swapping again?

I really don't know. I'm tired of it and I know that I'm 'only' on my fourth phone but I can see me having 10 phones at this rate. Is a fault-free screen, solid home button and decent battery life possible in the one package? I seem to be exchanging for one of three problems every time.

The TSMC phone I had (my second) was overall by far the best of the bunch and part of me wishes that I'd kept it. However, it did have a nasty screen fault so at the time I felt justified in swapping it. Laying out £700 for a mobile phone shouldn't be anything like this kind of a lottery! My last two have been worse overall than my first two. It feels like I'm buying seconds in the Apple rejects shop, except I'm paying full retail price.

I know you say this isn't there but the photos show the common blue tint down the right hand side and at the bottom.

Oh don't ruin it he was all happy he had a perfect screen lol....however it is very clear the blue borders. I am not convinced week this was fixed yet as people with the same production week still have issues. Its almost take your pick would you rather have a very faint blemish or blue borders?

I'm with you there. Don't ruin it for him. :)

It is quite possible that his good one is made at end of week 42 while other 42 was made in beginning of week 42. We won't even know this because its impossible. I guess only way to know for sure is see if anybody has week 43 (made last week). I would think that week 43 isn't available just yet. When my week 41 was shipped, we were already on week 43. And we're now at week 44.

It's quite hard to capture. I've just tried to and the camera sensor isn't sensitive enough to the change in light that the human eye is.

In a nutshell, it's a subtle vertical shadow top to bottom that is common on these IPS displays and looks like a book spine shadow you'd get in a book where the pages meet. It exists on the edge of a display, sometimes both. It's common on iPads too.

Sometimes it's looks more blue than dark - it's not to be confused with the blue edges that seems to also be common with this years 6S too.

iPhones are like fine wine, the older the build, the more delicious it is.

/s

Yes but at least with a fine wine I can go buy that now....I can't however buy a week 49 build. It is just too much time wasted sitting here monitoring someones interpretation of the quality of the phone. Just because this person says its perfect doesn't mean I would think it is. It all depends on what you had before which is why these forums are very subjective. I don't know about most of you but I spent way too much time and effort already for a damn phone. It is a month into the product life cycle and for me the "new phone" feeling has wore off. I am ready for what next year has to bring!

I hear you. My screen, whilst the best I've seen yet, still isn't £898 perfect (slight yellow to blue colour shift, left to right), but it's the best of the bunch and flawless in every other respect. I'm keeping it and moving on.

Whilst I still have 6 days of the return window left, I can't bring myself to swap a 4th time. I've seen well over 13 now and they all have at least 1 of the 4 issues that's doing the rounds.

I've found one that I can live with until iPhone 7. I'm going to embrace it's flaws as that makes it unique, give it a nickname and bring it along for ride.

I just got Apple to send me an express replacement for free. Does samsung (funny how predictive picks up Apple but not samsung) do that? I will just keep the best one and move on.

I did a couple more shots of mine with a more resolving camera. All in all I am quite happy with it, but it is still not as good side by side with my old 6 Plus.

So just when I thought I was out of this, I got pulled back in. A guy in the building next door bought a new SG 6S Plus this morning and just by chance I saw it and it was perfect.

I immediately did a reservation at the same store and picked one up as well and it's perfect. And I don't mean "You can only see it if you are looking for it" like my last phone, but rather this one is flawless. Not only does it not have the blemish but the display has a completely different level of quality. It's like the glass is clearer and completely non reflective and you can't really see the glass in front of the display at all. As well as no blemish, there is a great consistency and none of the subtle blue book spining down the right side. I'm pretty impressed, it's a great display. It's miles away from any of the 6S Plus phones I had used previously.

I think there is no doubt Apple is correcting this display problem at the factory. This phone is a week 42 so it is very new.

So after five 6S Plus purchased I have a phone I am very satisfied with, rather than one I am just settling for.

And next year if I do get a new phone I am not going to pre-order. If I hadn't received such a terrible phone on launch day I wouldn't have had to do any returns, or been angry enough to pursue it.

Your phone brightness looks unevenly lit, but I'm assuming that it's because of the photos.

My week 42 6s has a display that's uneven in tint; do you think I should bring mine back in? I just want an evenly tinted display, no defects. :/

Also, you should probably test the uniformity by viewing an image of black at max brightness in a dark room. That'll really show you the spots where the display isn't uniform, if there are any.

I have actually found it is REALLY quite difficult to take a picture of a screen properly. I tried using a Note 4 camera to take a picture of my iPhone 6S Plus and found it made the centre of the screen look brighter than the rest due to the light fall off on the lens. So I am not even going to post it. I need to get the SLR out if I want to have any chance of a reasonable shot I think.

I hear you here...my last one is the most acceptable of my returns so far and I think I will move forward with it. It is tempting as I see stores around me at least have more supply but at the same time who is to say I might get one that is worse. Uniformity is good on mine and I don't notice any blue on the sides. The top of the screen does not have any blotches or noticeably darker areas. The only issue is a very faint pressure point. To me all things being considered that is not enough for me to exchange...at least I don't think it is : )

You just described exactly how my phone is as well. And it has the TSMC chip. So mine is not going anywhere unless it develops further problems.

If you're happy with the majority of the phone, can you make a genius appointment (when they have the screens) and have them replace the screen? That way you don't have to play the full lottery again and the whole phone wont be a surprise. This is what I am hoping to do, but I'm sure someone on here will tell me it's a bad idea. :p

I think due to the 3D Touch it might take a while if at all before they start replacing the screens in store.

I may try that myself after I see the results.

Just to update...Gullible me decided to on my lunch to reserve a 6S+ and FOR THE LAST TIME try my luck with this. It was a week 43 build. This is my fourth return/repurchase. It is always tempting when you are in the 14 day return period if a store gets stock but in any event I think this is probably my best one. So far good uniformity, no blue (at least I can't see it), very very little to no dark shades across the top (I have looked at so many can't tell if it is there or my eyes are seeing things), and the faint blemish still on the left. I can say this has been the most faint of all and it really took some staring at to see it. I think because I know the location of them thats why it is easier to pick out vs someone who doesn't know about it. The display models in the store all looked horrible but I guess case and point most people just don't care and will buy anyway. This is the one I am keeping as I refuse to make anymore trips to the store. The buttons also feel a lot better on this one too not sure why. I just wanted to update as this is probably the latest build available as to at least what I experienced on this unit. Out of the 4 it is definitely the best one but I want to wait and see how the screen settles in after use for a couple days. Over the past few I noticed screen changes from when I opened it to a week later so we will see. On the flip side I have been seeing a lot of rumors about the Apple possibly switching over to OLED next year. I know not all technology is flawless but I sure hope they adopt this as I thoroughly enjoy the dark blacks it produces. Obviously I am sure there are some downsides but it would sure be nice to have. I know I love watching my OLED 4K TV and would love to have colors similar to that on a phone.

Wow! Reading this thread makes me feel very lucky. I must've found a unicorn because my Sim Free 128 Silver 6S+ with TSMC Chip (quite a mouthful) is perfect. No loose buttons, screen blemishes, dead pixes, bad hues or lag
