More proof thinner isn't always better....

Disagree. It's always better. I'll gladly take mine as thin as possible if the trade off is a slight distortion ONLY if I put pressure on the back. I've never noticed this and I picked up my Air 2 the day it launched.

You'll take a, by definition, structurally weaker product just to have it thinner? Your call.

WAIT WAIT WAIT!!!!!

The big news out of the OP's comment is that the iPad air 2 does not have the distortion pressure point which occurred on ALL air 2's. When did this come about?!?!?
Oh, I have no idea when exactly, but I can say that it's not a problem on mine. I had to go through two that did have it though, pretty badly too. It's still a crapshoot if you go out and buy one now, but ones that don't have the distortion problem as bad as it was originally was. My Air 2 (even though I'm not testing it too much) doesn't distort just by holding it or tapping areas around the distortion point.

What's funny is that one Apple worker tried to claim that's what they all did, while I was blatantly demonstrating with one of the demo units that no, no it didn't occur on all of them. I went to a different store.

Ugh, I hate the trend of thinner. Not just for the battery other people are having, but also because of crap like this or the Air 2 debacle. The 6S was a good start, now they need to keep going. It doesn't have to be iPhone 5 thick, but it shouldn't be paper thin.

I thought the 5 was perfect thickness myself

Yes. What could you possibly use your iPad for that would require it to be so indestructible? I hold mine in my hands, and read/surf. That will never put a damaging amount of pressure on it.

Not everyone uses them at home on the couch. Plenty of out and about users hence the cellular models. You might want a more sturdy device then.....

Just went to the Eaton center Apple Store, all the display models have this issue. Makes you wonder what Apple engineers do all day if they didn't catch an issue like this.

Was at the Bellevue, WA Apple Store this afternoon fighting a disease/impulse to buy more Apple Watch accessories, and I checked six iPhone 6s Plus devices (various colors), and they all featured the screen issue. They do vary in severity, but they all had it, and all were noticeable to me. I'll just live with it, but it's a shame nobody caught this in the design phase.

Went by Costco in Kalamazoo, MI. They had new 6S/6S+. Checked them out. The 6S+ on display has the issue. While the 6S looked flawless. I'm thinking, manufacturer defect on the LCD part.

Count me as yet another person who didn't notice it on my 6S+ until reading this thread.

It's only apparent on a white background (like this forum) and at around 30% brightness.

I'm not going to exchange it, unwilling to receive a new phone with the same problem + potentially others.

I'm also concerned about getting a new phone that has an even worse issue. I don't feel good about going past the 14 day return period with a dark spot on the screen

You can always go for 6S. To be honest with you, I ordered the 6S+ till I read about this. I'm picky about my gadgets like majority of you. Curse OCD!!! :D And I thought back when I had 6+ for few months before I sold it. I remembered how inconvenient it was to carry the big thing in my pocket. And how the apps used to be pretty stretched out. While my wife's regular 6 was a pretty comfortable size to carry and to use. For last few months, I have been using an ancient iPhone 4. I admit that it is actually nice to have a tiny thing around and not worry about feeling a thing. So, due to this 6S+ issue, I decided to cancel my order and placed the order for 6S instead.

As many have said, each to their own. So, if you don't want your OCD to go off all the time and lose sleep over this issue. Exchange for the 6S and sleep happy.

Just my 2 cents. :)

No display is perfectly uniform in brightness or color temperature, you simply can't escape some difference. It's very minor on my 6s+, I didn't even notice until I saw this thread. Not going to worry.

True, but I think this is less about getting a uniform display (although I did exchange the Plus for my 6S because it was really annoying to look at), and more about the fact that something is pressing under the screen.

Yes, this. I know some are worse than others, though, which will lead some people to wonder if theirs is "good" or "bad." If you only occasionally notice it it's probably not bad. If you REALLY see it ALL the time, then it's bad.

Of course, subjectivity at play here...

This is what I did. It'll be weird getting used to the smaller size and battery, but overall it's a good-sized phone. I'm adopting a wait-and-see approach for the 6S Plus. Thanks to this, within a year I'll probably end up owning both. I guess that's something?

The way the screen is mounted in a device can certainly be one of the factors effecting uniformity. You must have had a fairly bad case, and as mentioned above severity/user sensitivity varies greatly from case to case.

Could be wishful thinking but I don't see it on my screen. Full brightness
