I had pretty much decided I was going to get an Ultra 2, but now that I've tried it in the Apple shop I just don't think I can do it. I have 144mm wrists (a touch under 5 3/4"), and the Ultra covers the whole width. I've seen people say that the Ocean band or one of the sports bands looks a bit better because they lack the protruding metal fasteners, but they're not available to try on in my local shops.

I guess the Series 9 would still be a good upgrade from my Series 4, but I also worry I'd regret not having the extended battery life, the siren (I walk and run in the dark, but I guess my dog can be loud enough if need be), and the more accurate GPS (for hiking and SAR dog training).

I just cancelled my order.

I was 100% ready for the rumored black titanium version, and was extremely disappointed when it was left out.

I ordered anyhow, for Friday delivery, but have now decided my Series 7 will have to do another year. Hopefully there will be a black Ultra 3.

I am seriously considering the U2, I tried out the series 8 45mm and started liking it but thought it was slightly small for my eyes...I am used to wearing large watches from garmin anyway but the price stings ...still thinking about

I got the black carbon fiber version.

The ultra 2 might finally be the watch i am looking for. I currently have a watch 6. I am now primarily a mountain biker. In order to track my rides I use a garmin 530 bike computer, a wheel speed sensor and strava. I like to track heart rate as well but the two chest monitors I have tried haven’t lasted longer than 6 months.
the big miss on all Apple Watches so far and a miss that really disappointed me with the ultra 1 was no ability to use 3rd party sensors. Now that the ultra 2 can connect to Bluetooth wheel sensors I should be able to finally ditch the garmin and use an ultra 2, connected it via Bluetooth to speed sensor and use strava. This will get me accurate distance and ability to track heart rate without a chest monitor. Finally might have the perfect watch for mtb.
also when is apple going to come up with a real app for tracking exercise? While the watch can record a run or a ride there is really no place to set up goals, track and view past activity etc. really sucks and can’t believe they have not addressed this yet.

Using WatchOS 10, the AWU can connect to 3rd party bluetooth sensors. I connected my Garmin cadence sensor to my AWU. I can also connect the Cannondale-branded speed sensor on my bike (but I didn't).

Still no ANT+ and I doubt that will ever be supported.

Now that the ultra 2 can connect to Bluetooth...

I know the Apple website says that the AWU2 can now connect to 3rd party sensors. It makes it sound like the AWU2 is doing something that the AWU couldn't do. I think that's wrong. I connected my Garmin cadence sensor just fine.

Thanks. I didn’t know you could do this. I guess because strava won’t use sensors and up till now apples native apps didnt, I didn’t know it was possible. Thanks.

I almost ordered an ultra2 only for the new watchface.
It is soo good.
But my brain stopped me while my soul was crying.

IIRC this feature is new to watch OS 10. I was highly annoyed I couldn’t sync my cadence sensor without a computer (I have other bicycle issues lol).

I only got an Apple Watch less than a year ago. Both the standard edition, mostly to check it out. But, I've come to love it and I'm keen on upgrading to an ultra. But, I do think I'll wait until they add some more sensors. So, I'll probs hold out for the next gen ultra.

Very unlikely that you will see new sensors (not speaking about updated sensors, really new things like blood pressure or sugar) within the next year.

Change my mind from leaning no to purchasing one today, solely because the speakers on my series 7 is somewhat lacking. It’s OK, but my aging ears need better. 👍

Is the Ultra speakers a lot louder than the regular watch? I can't remember any reviews/comments about the speaker, but maybe I just haven't paid attention because I never use the watch speaker myself.
