I do not think so.

macOS 11 was unveiled one year ago. macOS 12 was unveiled this year. Should Microsoft want to catch up in terms of numbering, it would have already released Windows 11. Plus, Microsoft releases a Windows version with different numbering every 5 years or so, while Apple releases a new version of macOS every year. There is no way Microsoft would ever keep ahead if it keeps its release schedule.

Plus, Windows has a market share of over 90%. Windows is widely used by companies that need the kind of support and compatibility it offers, and consumers who would never be able to afford a Mac.

Microsoft is probably not worried about macOS.
macOs 12 was not unveiled this year. Mac was on version 10 for 17 years, last year updated to 11 to signify the change Apple Silicon.

Thanks but no thanks.. 99% of users bought apps through the Play Store, why would they want to double pay potentially to run an app in Windows.. What was MS thinking! I guess they are in a war with Google in some ways and Amazon might have thrown them some money too I am sure... but this is a loss for the end users imo.

Looks like a mix of ChromeOs and Mac Os, so far it looks nice and clean. That Android support is going to directly hurt ChromeOS sales though, there basically no longer a need to get them anymore.
Unlikely. ChromeOS is pretty imbedded in education where most of the Chromebooks are sold. Android support from Amazon will likely have very little effect.

ARM support is part of Windows 11. Microsoft has mentioned in their system requirements a "compatible 64-bit processor or System on a Chip (SoC)" and "with 2 or more cores." Intel and AMD's names are omitted directly, but X86 will be supported. Microsoft is currently developing their own ARM chip to utilize in the Surface line.

FWIW, the PC Health Check app says that my Windows 10 ARM VM won't run Windows 11. I wonder if Corel will work out a licensing arrangement with Microsoft to enable Windows 11 to run on M1 Macs through Parallels Desktop.

I think the biggest problem is that Windows 11 requires TPM 2.0, and Apple devices don't even have TPM chips (T2 is a distant relative and proprietary to Apple), so I have a feeling we're dead in the water anyway regardless of what silicon we have.

I was complaining yesterday about Apple and now Microsoft, many are gonna need a brand new PC to run Windows 11, sigh...good luck finding brand new parts in times of pandemic.

Can TPM be emulated?

Can TPM be emulated?

I doubt the hardware itself could be emulated, that would kind of undermine the entire point of having a Trusted Platform Module. From what I've read, the physical chip needs to be present in order to engage and pass along keys/signatures. Maybe someone could possibly write a TPM software emulator to talk to Apple's T2 chip, but without Microsoft's explicit confirmation for running W11 on all silicons including Apple Mx, I'm not exactly confident in anything right now.
