I am very careful with my Mac and it's very unlikely that I would need the display assembly replaced.

Yeah and I am as well. But you can’t predict the future can you ? I’ve never broken a phone before with the exception of my iPhone 6 Plus 4 or 5 times because of bad luck . Once getting out of a cab, once because I left it on top of a roof of a car and drove off and another it just came out of my back pocket. If you want to run the risk that’s your right but playing the numbers getting Apple care plus on a MacBook is a smart Financial idea if you do happen to brake it once .

That's different.

That's a phone and it's far more likely that an accident would happen.

I never said that.

What I said was that 3/5 of the 2017 MacBook Pro that we have, have the keyboard issue.

Now, that's not a large sample size, but internally, we considered that an issue.

You’re the one who quoted me asking me why I said what I said not the other way around. I am saying peoples on here is complaining about the keyboard when how do we equally know if the keyboard issue is an widespread one or not.

Sam application though . Who knows if you’re in a rush one day and knock down your laptop ? Life happens. I would rather have the piece of kind with it then without. Smart idea to buy it if you bring it outside or unless you live in a house full of bubble wrap.

How often do you hear people complaining about the keyboard on the pre-2016 MacBook Pro failing?

Almost never.

That's how you know there's a problem.

And how many do you hear people saying anything positive on forums ? Rarely unless it’s an review of an overall product. Few hundred people here is not a good measuring stick.

If you hate the product don’t buy it problem solved

This is getting ridiculous.

Of cause there are not going to be a lot of people saying "Oh look, the keyboard on my 2013 MacBook Pro is not failing!"

It's when people start complain about the same issue that you know there's a problem.

And yet you don’t know how many ? As of now you’re still in the minority. Guess what go sell it then and move on . Solved your problem

Again, and how do you know this?

Also, a minority could be anywhere up to 49.99%

Supposed that 49.99% of 2016/2017 MacBook Pro has this issue, it would be a huge issue.

Again, how do you know that "the keyboard is fine for most people"?

Those are your words.

Because of the 0.05% here only a few are complaining. That and the fact it’s still not that widespread considering it years 3 with these keyboards and using silence of the people who are NOT complaining as proof ? If you hate it go buy a windows laptop or a 2015 MacBook and stop complaining.

So are you saying that every single person that has this problem has to come to MacRumors and say that he/she is having this problem?

Do you think it's possible that there are people who have this problem, but don't come to MacRumors to say that they are having this problem?

And you have countless more who isn’t saying anything here or otherwise. The fact is the keyboard issue has a minority of people complaining and that’s a fact for now . Using this forum alone.

As I said you only have complainers voicing their opinions. As I said stop complaining and buy something else. You act like MacBooks are the only devices out there. If you need MacOS go buy a 2015 model.

Just because a minority is complaining doesn't mean that this isn't a big issue.

Apparently, you seem to think that unless at least 50% of the people are having this issue, then this issue isn't a problem.

lol no . You’re just a very vocal minority (under 2%) complaining. You have plenty of more people who is not complaining. I’ll say it again go buy something else. If you hate it. Nobody is forcing you to keep it .

Does anyone have actual facts o the amount of people complaining or are we arbitrarily making up numbers to sound smart?

Well last I saw numbers of that petition to sue about the keyboard was around 20,000 or whatever. That’s probably under 1% of total MacBook sold. Also forum members are a minority in of itself. If it was bigger then 1% of sold products you would have an uproar. You don’t though in the general public.

AGAIN, you are making the incorrect assumption that the people who are complaining are the only people having the issue.

You DON’T take into account the people who are having the issue, but don’t come here to complain.

...and what about all the people having this issue, but who didn’t sign the petition and who didn’t come to this forum?

Doesn't the TB have 2 fans and a faster different series processor. I would lean toward that unit.

Yep, this was why I went with the TB model. I didn't really care about the TB, but the 2 fans and faster processor AND 4 USB C ports made it a no-brainer to me.

My lemon works fine

My lemon works fine too - love the keyboard (the feel and louder sound). My wife has same one (we both got same) - and she uses her laptop for hours and hours every day (phd student) and she loves her lemon too. (2017 MBP TB 13')

Reading the last page of bickering..... consider this thread well & truly derailed!!

You don't have a problem UNTIL you have a problem.

There were people saying that the dGPU failed 2011 MacBook Pro 15"/17"

I have a 2011 MacBook Pro 17" and it worked fine UNTIL the dGPU failed.

Then, of cause, Apple launched the repair extension program.
