If the high end of the next iPhone brings a design I find intriguing with materials that are interesting and premium I would have no problem buying it for $1500.

But I also had no problem buying the Space Black link bracket Apple Watch when the vast majority of people just bought the sport.

That's why there is a product line across a variety of price points.

If that's all you care about why buy an iPhone at all? It's the most popular brand of phone in North America. If you want to be unique, buy a Windows phone or a non-Samsung Android phone.

You don't have to pay twice as much as everyone just to feel special.

I don't have an iPhone. I haven't owned one since the 3GS when, suddenly, everyone seemed to be able to afford them.

This is important why?

Because I like to have things that are more exclusive. I earn well and like to own things that set me away from those that don't. That's why I live where I do, drive the car I do, wear the clothes I do etc.

Maybe a Vertu is more up your alley. If you want "very" exclusive. iPhone's are way to common. Even the $1500 priced one's will sell out. Definitely a Vertu. http://www.vertu.com/us/en/home/

Well at least you're honest about it. I'd say that your self awareness is a more unique quality than anything you can buy and show off.

The Only thing "Exclusive" on a $1500 iPhone is the price tag. And it certainly wouldn't be the "Norm" for most. It would appeal to some and there are those who would purchase it without having a second thought. But the majority are not going to invest in a $1500 iPhone, considering what the cost is and how often do they upgrade.

A $1500 iPhone won't just sell out because it's the latest and greatest, it will also sell out because it has also an Apple logo on it.

And by "self awareness " you actually mean deep seated insecurity. ;)

I'd gladly pay 1.5k for a phone which gave me a 5.5"+ high PPI screen in a current 4.7" form factor and had a battery which could last for 3 days with my usage patterns. That's not likely to happen so no, I won't pay 1.5k for what is currently forecast to be released.

Someone in this thread echoed my current thoughts: now that I have an iPad Pro, I would rather use an SE and put that extra money into another iPP than a $1500 iPhone.

What I paid for the 7+ with Apple Care and discount was too much, even moreso since I got the iPad. I do a lot more on the bigger screen and get my $'s worth. Going forward, my iPhone of choice will be an SE, or if that is not available smallest previous gen iPhone.

No way. I can think of a lot of other things I'd rather spend £1500 (I know its $ but lets face it, its more or less the same at the moment!) on than a new iPhone. My iPhone 6S is still working fine and does everything I need it to. Different people have different priorities. If your priority is the latest iPhone, then thats fine. Me, I want a Drone :D

I can't hold any longer.....I need grass...
I need grass...no no.....nooooo...help!

It's to late, i pre-ordered.....beeehhheeeee..beeeheeee!

it depends on how easy it is to make $1500. Considering the value of $1500. and the value of the product offering. no. I would not pay $1500. The product offering is certainly not worth $1500 and the material itself certainly costs nowhere near $1500.

A few days ago I was disgusted, went to the apple site, they buy back old iphones. They give you not more than $260* (average 216) for an iphone 6S, irrespective of its condition and probable capacity. An average iphone 6s costs $600. Thats more than 200% in value. Apple make great devices, possibly the best phone out there, but the blatant greed they are demonstrating is appalling.

If Apple ever comes to sell that phone, it would be because it is being driven by greed not by that premium quality that sets it apart. But we certainly know that already.

I am the first person who would prefer to spend more on a higher quality product... I'm lucky enough to afford an iPhone, and I would also afford this one, but I also have my limits.

Before anyone says no one is making me buy it, im merely voicing my opinion as you probably did already.

Well, the higher price tag on the redesign may mean more 'deals', etc by the carriers to sway the prospective buyers...so take heart.

I'm still on the 4.7 OLED bandwagon so I will be on the sidelines. :D

Just trying to look for the positive side of things.

I'll take that as a compliment - thank you.

It was meant as one. I can't say that I agree with the philosophy of needing to show off more exclusive merchandise to emphasize your success, but if it makes you happy and does no harm, who am I to judge?

If you're going to charge 1500 then it had better come with extras. Like a pair of airpods (matching the phone color you choose), extra long lightning cable or wireless charger, phone case of your choice made by apple, extended year of apple care.. maybe something else too.. but you get what I'm saying. If they did that during preorder I'm sure lots of people would jump on a 1500.00 price tag. But 1500 just for the phone itself.. nope, never going to happen for me. Rather put that money into another macbook pro.

Sounds like you are wanting "free stuff", you get what I am saying.

There will be lots of people who will jump on on the 8 at the real price of $1200-$1300. People will be lining up for days to but this phone. The 8 may not be for everyone but Apple will have 7S and 7S+ units for sale, too.

Plenty of choices for everyone!

I would normally say yes but to be honest I'm pretty happy with my 7 plus. Big screen, great battery life and it's faster than my mbp for web browsing so instead I'll get an iPad Pro this year.

As much as I'd love to get one, I'll probably be sticking with my 7 this year. I'm a little bummed because I wanted to upgrade to a bigger screen, but I'll hold out for an additional year -- if I don't convince myself to get a 7s Plus.

I could write off half as a business expense and I still wouldn't. I buy my phone off-contract so I usually look at $650-750 anyway, but anything close to 800 or 900 is simply too much for what I get out of it.

I'm not that much of a snob that I'd pay $1500 for stuff that's going to trickle down in a year or two anyway.

Someone isn't a snob because they spend their money how they wish. Snobbery is the attitude that goes along with anything else in life.

Do you think anyone who buys a new car is a snob because it loses much more than $1500 the minute you leave the lot, let alone a year or two when it's worth much, much less.
