My impressions.

After having the Wrapsol ultra for a few weeks, I wanted to share my impressions. I pre-ordered, and like many of you, my skin was damaged right out of the box. Impressions of the manual, pieces sticking together, etc. I called them up, and to their credit, they made it right. They shipped me out a replacement straight away and this one was packaged much better, with a piece of wax paper or whatever it is seperating each piece.

Now, at first, I applied mine as is. I found that the bubbles did indeed go away quickly, although a few of the larger ones needed the help of my fingernail (not scratching at them, more of a flicking motion). But I did find out that it definitely does not work well with the bumper. Forget about the side pieces, and the edges of the front and back were constantly being lifted up. Also, with the constant in and out of my pocket (along with my leather wallet) the back skin started to slide up.

My solution was to take the skin back off, stick it back to a piece of plastic, and trim about 1/16" off of all four sides with a paper cutter, rounding out the corners with a sharp pair of scissors. Then I washed the skin with water and a little bit of soap, and reapplied. Now it fits perfectly just inside the lip of the bumper. I think it is still prone to slide a little bit, but now that I'm aware of it I can watch out for it.

I thought it was really great that you could take it off and wash with soap and water and reapply. Good luck doing that with many other skins (adhesive too strong, not thick enough so they stretch).

Pros (for me):
Very little texture and smooth, I didn't notice any loss of sensitivity
Thick so gives the piece of mind of possible drop protection
Wash and reapply if you make a mistake
All the bubbles do go away (didn't with my Zagg)
Friends can't even tell I have a skin on

Cons:
Needed to trim to work with bumper, side pieces don't fit with bumper
Prone to sliding in pocket (but can be moved back into place with fingers)

Overall I'm very satisfied with the skin. My only other experience has been with Zagg, but I like the Wrapsol Ultra much better.

Today the original film on the back and some on the sides started to peel off. I am going to return this thing for a refund. I'm done.

Same.

I'm tired of sticking up for them. Customer service is great but the product itself is a huge disappointment from their 3G and 3GS series. I got my full refund today.

Powersupport now has my business

does it fit with pixelskin hd

anyone using wrapsol + pixelskin hd combo? does it tear off the edges?

Well I went an ordered the wrapsol even after reading how much problems people have been having in this post but I decided to give wrapsol a chance and i have to say that I wasn't so lucky with the front screen either.. Although its not noticeable when you the screen is on when the screen is off you see micro bubbles everywhere and this is after me installing it July 23 so its been 3 full days and it doesn't seem like this bubbles are going to disappear. I was reading that the cause of this micro bubbles is because the lack of solution but I think I've used plenty. Anyways I will be contacting wrapsol for replacement overall I like the feel of it just wish I didn't have to deal with the micro bubbles. I have included a pic so you guys can see..

I would have to agree that you didn't use enough solution. You have to literally drench it on there to get the best results IMO. You won't "hurt" the phone, so don't worry.

Your front actually looks fine. It doesn't have the oil-like texture my fronts had.

Tip - you don't have to use their solution either. Soapy water works just as fine.

Thanks for the tip hopefully I can get another replacement from wrapsol

The wrapsol ultra actually saved my iphone today. Dropped it on the concrete on its corner it then bounced onto its back. Zero scratches or damage anywhere!! My original iPhone 4 was in a zagg and got all scratched up when it took a similar spill. The fully covered sides and thicker back really saved my phone.

Yep, that is what mine looked like for about a week. The bubbles do go away, not 100% of them, but I'd say about 98% of them disappear after a week or so. Even the really large bubble go away with time.

update: applied my wrapsol about 5 days ago, i had the ultra. back is already peeling :(

tried to put it back on with wet method, will report soon

hi all,

does original provide drop protection? if it doesn't i'll get an ultra then.

and what's the benefit by installing ultra dry vs fluid installation? I see some peeps here doing that.

cheers

Are you kidding? It does not offer any drop protection at all. Not even other skins.

Has wrapsol stopped replying to support emails? I have emailed them 4 times and haven't received a single reply. I might be contacting my credit card company. Shady company, sorry I ever dealt with them. Excellent customer service my ass. They are probably waiting for my 45 day return window to end.

Actually, just pick up the phone can cell them. ;)

PhantomSkinz sent me out some stuff. I think it's just as good as Wrapsol and maybe even the same thing lol.. Highly recommended!

yea well does any of y'alls original back look like this after just 4 weeks?
-snip-

Mine wasn't like that, the bubbles are gone in like under 24 hours, did you use a squeegee while you were applying it? (in one direction)

No no no. This is a result after having the film on the back after a few weeks. The install went perfectly and all the bubbles were gone within a day because I only had one small bubble. It just started to peel off.

Oh wow.. mine hasn't done that. Maybe you need to email them that picture so you can get a replacement or refund or something.
