Finally

I'm get bored hanging out in my parents' basement complaining about Apple all the time. This company moves too slow, the products suck and are too expensive, and TC needs to be replaced. No, I am not bitter because I cannot afford nice things

Can we stop calling it the iPhone 8?

How are they going to announce the usual upgrades on the S version of the 7... and then say, “Oh and here’s the 8! We’re bringing it out a year early!”

That’d be confusing. What would they call the upgrades on both of these phones next year? It’s clear they are going to break the naming pattern. Edition is stupid. X is stupid. How they won’t call it the iPhone Pro when they’ve worked hard to clear up the MacBook and iPad lines (not to mention iMac Pro) is beyond me.

Totally agree. I get that Pro is kind of dumb, but it's the most logical naming scheme for the iPhone moving forward.

Hope we can get some news soon because I have to plan for my trip to do the iPhone Upgrade Program swap.

I can't believe it has already been another year. Seems like I just got my iPhone 7 yesterday. I swear, every stage of life accelerates things. Had my second kid a year ago and things got even faster. First noticed it when I went off to college. Then marriage, graduation, first house, baby, second house, another baby. SLOW DOWN. No wonder old people have so much patience. They psychologically don't have to wait as long as everyone else. It's kinda nice but also kinda scary.

It's sad that some of you literally will spend almost 1 thousand for a new phone! All I see is bunch of "Yesmen" to Apple. Now let's take at some of the "biggest" new stuff..

Face ID - How many of you said back in June "I won't buy it unless Touch ID is in the screen.."

Wireless charging - Are we humans getting more lazier? Is it hard to plug in a small cable into your phone? Imagine if we, today, had to use a "pad" just to charge our phones? And all of a sudden, Apple brought small little cables into the world. "Apple is the BEST I SWEAR"!

Bezel less - I give credit to that..

Notification center - Are you really that geeky? They do this every year.

Full of people that won't lead the crowd, but follow the crowd!

(If this is your first iPhone or you're upgrading from 6/6s, I don't mind you).

For the screen upgrade alone, it's worth the $4-$6 dollar a month increase on my plan.

I have the opposite mindset when it comes to this. I don’t mind paying a large amount for a premium phone. It’s the one device you have on you practically 24/7. It’s your camera, maps, portable gaming device, mini tv, your internet and everything else all in your pocket. And for that I want the best that Apple has to offer, and I don’t mind paying the premium for something I use so much.

Anyway, this was already an instant buy from me when I saw the rumours floating around nearly 2 years ago. So please don’t lump us all in this category of “more money than sense” people.

I wonder who will get snubbed. The theater is much smaller than the Bill Graham Center.

Agreed. Hard to believe they'd plan such a potentially major announcement, phones, watch, Apple TV, and limit it to 1,000 seats. Maybe they will have overflow seating in the "food court" area of the main building?

Seems like they'd still want to do most of their major events where's there's plenty of seating and exhibition space ... And one that's not still under construction, and potentially not fully tested ...

At this point I think the only thing that is really unknown is the actual name and prices for the anniversary phone. Not the 7s line but the OLED iPhone. There may be OS surprises or Apple TV features/additions that haven't been guessed or reported but the hardware is probably what has been speculated about and frequently confirmed by leaks of one type or another.

So:
  • The I8 will not have a Fingerprint reading Home Button
  • Face recognition to replace this function
  • 64 Gb base memory
  • 'Wireless' charging, which is really cordless charging. It will need to be in physical contact with the charging mat or pad, it just won't need to be plugged in to charge
I think that there will be some 'surprise', but it will not be to any of the above items. It may be the price, rumors keep moving the base price up and up, maybe that will be the news. Get everyone set for a plus $1000 phone and then announce a base of $950.00
Still a damn high price but if it comes in under the 'experts' price estimates then they'll get favorable press at least for that. I am only guessing about the price, however, but everyone else seems to only be guessing as well. Someone will be close.

The iPhone typically contains technology which plant the seeds of future technologies that will ripple through the entire Apple ecosystem.

I want to be a part of that future. And I don't mind paying for it.

But all of these features could be found in a phone worth less than 500$, but you're willing to spend almost a thousand... Just my two cents.

Will be extremely disappointed if there's no touchID in the screen, but I guess I'm willing to give FaceID a try... hoping Apple does what Apple does best and it "Just works."

While some of you think they won’t name it iPhone pro or iPhone edition, they might very well do it. They might just call it iPhone. Eventually Apple will have to drop the numbering from their iPhone line up. In a few years time they’ll be in the double digits, and let’s face it. Calling an iPhone “iphone 11” or “iPhone fourteen” sounds incredibly stupid. We’ll find out soon enough.

I tend to agree, the iPhone is my most important device and the one I want to upgrade more frequently, even if I spend more hours on my Macs every day (I still use a mid 2011 iMac and a mid 2012 Macbook Air).

That said, I can afford paying more than $1000 for an iPhone but I'm not sure I'll be happy to do it.
These days selling an iPhone, at least in my country, is less profitable than some years ago. Many people have iPhones now, the SE is very affordable so every year you lose a lot of money buying the new model and selling the old one.
We don't have the upgrade program yet and I think we need it, especially if the new iPhone will be so much expensive.
As you said I want to have the latest and greatest, I want the best Apple has to offer, but I'm not happy to pay a lot of money every year and have the hassle to sell my old model.
If they don' introduce the UP in my country I think I'll wait another year and hope they'll make their entire lineup bezel free in 2018

Wireless charging? Blckberry priv has had this since 2015..

How do you allow a company to almost charge you +350 for technology that has already been out?
If I was Tim Cook.. I'd be laughing too.

No, not wireless charging, you said all of the features of the new iPhone. Which phone has all of the features of the new iPhone for less than $500?

Ah brings me back haha

Nothing really new.. Wireless charging and bezel less screen?

The Face ID isn't directly implanted on the phone, but on the iOS itself...
