what happened to

'2007 is gonna be a great your for the mac'
'we got some great stuff for for the mac coming'

That was pretty empty as far as products go and we saw some new bits in leopard....but Secret features????

i know this is more of a developer session, but they are starting to promise so much and not quite pulling it off yet.

i also know we are all victim of being a little ungratefull and greedy, but they gotta start delivering what they are suggesting above...

You cannot live on profile forever, you have to follow up hype with products that work.

If the Head of iPhone Software has trouble typing in something on the iPhone, they better hope he was just nervous.....or its going to be the biggest flop since the Cube.

My thoughts

  • Leopard looks good, we'll find out more about stuff like ZFS from the developers. I always doubted they'd demo that kind of thing at WWDC. Nice that they've finally decided to do something with their "Piles" (stacks) patent.
  • The iPhone programmability thing looks dubious to me. If it's supposed to be "standards compliant", what kind of access does it have to, say, local storage? What about games? People generally like having games on their portable computing devices, and this multimedia-oriented device is going to attract a crowd more interested in that than most. AJAX sounds a little slow for anything but a basic platformer and the usual card-game type suites.
  • Wasn't expecting new hardware, so not going to complain about that.
  • Safari for Windows was an interesting one. Safari really isn't much (if at all) better than IE7 or Firefox (well, IE7 is more annoying, with too many things disabled in the name of false security, so I guess it has a slight edge.); I'm guessing they're trying to build marketshare, to help iPhone. What's seriously interesting will be the reaction of Microsoft.

Not much reason to be disappointed: despite other's comments to the contrary, I don't think Apple did anything to suggest this was going to be an extra special WWDC, and they telegraphed the lack of hardware updates for this last week by announcing the new MBPs.

I usually try to be mature and not whine too much...

but I got caught twice by my boss watching the live feed instead of working, and what did I get out of it?

NOTHING. I'm not even excited about Leopard, I'll stick to tiger if that's all there is to it. Not even a smidge of hardware for us? I prefer tiger to vista, but really that's mostly personal preference, and really Leopard looks like it's awfully close to on-par with vista for the average user.

Literally nothing for the devoted mac lovers, safari??? I'll stick with firefox thanks. new website design?! ooooooh, i'm trying to care but it's rough when there's absolutely nothing new on it.

Boy oh boy, if I didn't have the final episode of the sopranos waiting for me at home and a new big love tonight I'd walk home in head-down charlie brown style depression stupor.

Just downloaded and installed Safari - not bad. I don't like the anti-aliasing they are using on the font, though.

Amen to that. This was a great keynote, had tons of great information and Leopard looks awesome. Problem is that people read outlandish rumors and expect steve to make a touch screen, singing and dancing girlfriend for the majority of these people and when it doesnt happen, people ignore the big things and get all disapointed. Its really sad. I mean come on, they announed some big big things today, things with huge implications. Its a shame people cant see that though...

Nail. Head. Hammer.

I was hoping that after Macworld, WWDC would be VERY OS X centric. But my worst fears seem realized.

Looks like OS X is no longer a priority.

much wider website...

and COVER FLOW on 'mac' section...

but where did .mac go???

i can't install safari3 beta on my iMac..

I have core duo 10.4.9 and it says the volume is not suitable for the install!!!

WTF??

and yes, it IS the mac os version, not windows (otherwise it wouldn't even run)..

At least they are letting us download it. From what the MR Live feed said, it looked like it would only run on Leopard.

Anyone notice that the Safari 3 dmg was only created at 0441 today (BST) so that would be... 2041 Cupertino time yesterday?

idk what I'm gonna do now. I desperately need a new computer. If apple won't release any good hardware I might have to go windows.

AAPL is already beginning to fall.

As it should do on that performance...SJ alluded to exciting things at all things D and revealed nothing. One has to imagine that many shareholders are nervous about hype and little substance... the iPhone and iPod are not enough to justify a $125 share value. They need to be building the mac market for that, and SJ has been disappointing that loyal community a lot of late. Intel was great, but we love Apple and promote it for innovation and we saw none of that today!
