What a disappointment! No real news at all, other than the handful of Leopard features (coupled with all the stuff that was basically a rehash of what we already knew!).

>> spaces/time machine/64-bit thingy is something that I don't think I'll be using on regular basis

>> quick look and stacks are promising .. but not enough considering how steve made such a hallabaluja about his secret features.
Actually, I believe Time Machine will always be on (basically cvs/svn for your whole hard drive), which is a Cool Thing(tm). Spaces I'd only be concerned about how much memory space/cpu time is consumed while a space is in the background. If I only have 2gb, and photoshop is sucking down 1.5gb that doesn't leave much for a good fps :)

Stacks is promising to the way I work, and combined with quick look will be a nice feature.

check out the apple hompage, the menu bar jacked up nasty right now

EDIT
new menu bar on the apple site. i think this is the most exciting thing i've seen from apple all day. i saw it completely loaded once. it doesnt start at the top of the page, kind of floating, and has that iluminous look to it. here's a screen shot of it jacked up

edit 2
here it is. it's a completely new site-wide redesign. appears to be a lot of ajax and animated elements.

Sort of cool looking... not exciting by any stretch of the word.

No developers outside of the conference will get Leopard Beta.

Does this mean ADC Select and Premiere members who were not in attendance will not get a seed with the "secret features"? How could that be?

Ooooh, I'm really liking the new Apple site! The white space around the top navigation bar is way better than the justified pinstripes design it used to be.

I'm all for it! Should Safari 3 beta be okay for day-to-day use yet? Only way to find out is to actually download it, I guess. Great Leopard preview, by the way. Nice iPhone preview. Too bad about no new Macs, though. I've been waiting for a new iMac since over a year now.

Safari on Windows is huge; that's the second thing they're taking away from Microsoft (the first being WMP -> iTunes) for Windows users.

Why not just eliminate the middle man and release Leopard for x86? Same retail price...$129. :)

Wow, it's so smooth and pretty. :)
It even has the Mac buttons. No fullscreen though.
EDIT: It copies Core Image transformations too. Well done, Apple.

No Leopard preview for anyone outside of WWDC??? So my $2500 a year developer subscription is worth crap right now. No way to develop for the new desktop. Real cute. That's what I get for being responsible and NOT taking off work and going to San Fran.

Thanks to all involved for the excellent coverage!

I think good move by Apple to launch Safari for WS...maybe a prelude to OS X doing likewise in the not-too-distant future? But, generally, a mixed-bag WWDC & not quite living up to the expectations of most people.

Frankly, Tiger is already so excellent that I found most of Leopard's new stuff (excluding TM) to be mostly just eye candy...on first impression at least. Maybe I'll feel different by October.

Also, disappointing that no new hardware revealed.

I was really impressed with the new finder layout, but was anyone else wondering (like I was) about how much resources all this eye candy is going to take to run? Using iTunes 7 with Cover Flow eats all of my ram on my iMac (with 1.5 gbs). I hope all this stuff can run on the "older" intel models  (not to mention PPC macs)

So - a sort of itunes/finder/quicksilver hybrid thing is the only new feature. I couldn't get an iPhone here in the UK - and I don't even use Safari on my Mac so why the hell would I want it on my PC?

And then copy and paste from last years WWDC. Where are the top secret new features? I mean - there was literally NOTHING.

Serious kudos to MR for the great coverage!

Doug

Did anyone notice Safari 3.0 loading pages faster than firefox even with the fasterfox add-on? Firefox is off my dock! :)

The online Apple Store seems to assume that you have a display with about 960 or more pixels across. How are they going to sell widescreen displays to people who don't already have them?
