yea it's cool and all but how many computers are going to respond postivily to all the animation features. My first gen macbook didn't display itunes coverflow seemlessly. i mean some of it seems like fluff anyway, i mean who 'needs' the reflection of the window on the dock?

CoverFlow has never been smooth, it is quite buggy. Maybe in Leopard it would be OK.

Your MB is capable of handling coverflow.

Anyone else notice there is no mini in this picture?

Safari on Windows is huge; that's the second thing they're taking away from Microsoft (the first being WMP -> iTunes) for Windows users.
They're not taking anything away from Microsoft with that. 99.9% of Windows users have never heard of Safari. 99.9% of businesses are not going to replace IE with Safari.

Why not just eliminate the middle man and release Leopard for x86? Same retail price...$129. :)

Now you're talking my language! That would revolutionise Apple. :)

Disappointing. Now I have to sit here and (still) wonder if I should purchase my macbook now, or wait until october. Sucks.

I can't believe there isn't any new hardware.

When is the next time they would even announce new hardware? Macworld 08?

Safari on Windows Front Page News on BBC Website

http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/technology/6742439.stm
Apple has launched a version of its web browser Safari for Windows, competing head to head with Microsoft's Explorer and Mozilla's Firefox.
Chief executive Steve Jobs said Apple "dream big" and wanted to expand the 4.9% market share Safari enjoys.

Mr Jobs was speaking at a conference of developers for Apple products in San Francisco, California.

He said Safari was "the fastest browser on Windows", saying it was twice as fast as Internet Explorer.

A test version of Safari for Windows XP and for Vista is available for download from the Apple website. Apple is hoping to replicate the success of iTunes, which has proved enormously popular on both Macs and Windows machines.

Mr Jobs used the conference to lift the lid on new features of its forthcoming operating system (OS) for Macs, called Leopard.
Pretty huge coverage for this. Usually WWDC is just a small story at the side of the page, if anything at all.

And what's the hell with the 'world's best browser' claim that Apple make about Safari? How do they justify that claim? Man oh man...

^^^

Cheers. Turns out I do have the new version, can't see any new features though.

Way to make Safari 3 available for XP+Vista but not for me (10.3.9). Jackasses.

My OS is not only newer than XP, but it's... you know.... a freaking Mac!

So what's going on with the Safari 3 installer? Doesn't work on my machine with the latest OSX.

I've seen a number of people with this problem. Anyone have a fix (and "works fine for me" isn't a fix, I already know it works for some people).

Apple Canada's main page must still be in the process of updating, since nothing is on it.

The store is back up, though.

don't feel so bad... i've got 10.4.9 on a brand new iMac C2D and it refuses to install, citing my computer doesn't meet the necessary requirements...

Apple part numbers changed?

Last week I added a MBP to my cart - the cheapest educational model. The part number was MA895LL/A. I just added the same one to my cart, and now the part number is Z0EB. They're both in my cart at the same time right now, same config, same price, same everything. Weird.

Edit - Well, one difference. The original one is shipping in 1-3 days, the new one is 3-5. :)

Where is the QuickTime Guide now??

Where can we find the Keynote for this WWDC now??

the QuickTime tab is GONE~~~
