I want to know more now!!!!

differences

Hilarious.

All the minimum wage-earning, fly-by-night Apple bandwagon jumpers are ecstatic...just read all their positive comments and feedback!!

All the true Apple connaisseurs who wanted more, demanded more, expected more...and who were willing to pay more for the priviledge are pissed!!

UGH!

July 11th? Really Apple?
Not terribly long, I suppose, but you would think Apple would want to catch the graduation/Father's Day season. Interesting.

But the $299 price point for the 16 GB is nice :D

Out of iPhones

I find it amazing that by the time the new iPhone is in stores, Apple will have been sold out for nearly 2 months. Seems like horrible planning on their part...unless they were just trying to insure customers didn't get too upset.

Apple takes on the enterprise? Exchange Support

Whaddaya mean no real info? Did y'all see THIS?

http://www.apple.com/ca/press/2008_06/snow_leopard.html

"Snow Leopard includes out-of-the-box support for Microsoft Exchange 2007". Interesting - it seems Apple is getting serious about the enterprise market. No word on Intel-only from the press release, I sure hope not since my G5 is such a great machine, and I probably can't afford an equivalent Mac Pro. We'll find out soon enough!

I'm amazed people are disappointed with this keynote. There's a LOT to be excited about here. Granted, there may not be much wow! factor for people who already have an iPhone, but I think a lot of today's announcements will turn out to be things that you can't live without in a year's time. Not only that, but we no longer have to rely on Apple to keep the software on the iPhone fresh - the iPhone platform will be gifted with some of the most talented developers in the world, i.e. Mac OS X developers, creating some absolutely incredible stuff. I'm stupidly excited!

...but this was a the most disappointing WWDC in years. No hardware updates at all? Where is a revised MB or MBP where is a MBA with Atom in it?

The SDK and 2.0 software will be cool but seriously. This was sad. I had already planned to run to the Apple Store after work and buy something now i get to go home and see my wife. Thanks Steve for the crappy hand Job.

Ahhh....lets see what the rest of the week brings... remember MacWorld and last years developer conference... not all was told at the Keynote... there could be more to come this week!

I too am disappointed we have to wait a month... but what the heck... if you have a Treo or a Balckberry... your wait is MUCH longer! :)

maybe we owners can hope to get some $$ for our iphones during this time before they're worth $25 LOL

Well it seem like yet another iPhone I won't be getting. We can put a man on the moon, But we can't change our own battery on a iPhone. With today identity Theft problem on an up raise each and every day. I'm suppose to hand over an iPhone with my PERSONAL information to God know who, maybe a disgruntle employee. Trust that they will erase my personal information for me, with out taking a peek and maybe writing it down for his or her personal gain. Like we never seen this done before. It's only been done almost EVERY day in any given work environment. I'll just buy a phone that I can change out my own battery thanks Apple for F@&king up on this one as well...

Take out your SIM card when you get the battery changed.:D Problem solved.

I don't understand the euphoria over the iPhone price cut.

Only Apple could lower a product's price from outrageously overpriced to marginally overpriced and receive applause from their audience.

They've taken a commodity that is all but free in 99% of the market - the mobile phone - and somehow managed to charge people hundreds of dollars (yes, $199 still counts as hundreds of dollars) for it.

The iPhone should be free, or $99 at most. The rest should be made up for by the service plan, just like every other cell phone.

As someone else touched upon earlier up thread, those of you that think this is such a big deal need to realize that Apple only cut the price from $2320 (2 years worth of AT&T service plus $400 for the phone) to $2120 (2 years worth of service plus $200 for the phone).

THAT'S why the iPod Touch costs more than an iPhone.

THAT'S why Apple doesn't want people unlocking phones.

Don't you guys realize how TINY MMS, iCard, and Bluetooth upgrades are to the scope of what just happened?

You've got to be stark raving lunatics...and I mean that literally.

Please, let me again refer to the price...$200. Why oh WHY does a lack of useful but not extremely important features act as a barrier between the real happenings. $200 for killer data, killer GPS, better software, I mean...it's inexplicable.

Truly people posting on this forum must be blind. Truly

people are being a little harsh on those that are complaining...blind?? you have to be kidding me!! most of those disappointed (including myself) already own the iphone...we know it has killer data, better software...we honestly don't care about the price, keep in mind we bought it when it was 599.00...why hate on those that want more...I wanted video conferencing, that would definitley make me upgrade, not a little more speed and gps...relax there buddy

Minimum Wage Earners and "FLY BY NIGHTERS"?

Ohhhhhh! I forget...you meant to say "The general public"...right?

Connesiuers? (Sorry, I can't spell that, I'm a minimum wage earner), I own an iPhone, MBP, iMac, and iPod. I do this because they are great devices that I want WAnt WANT upgrades for. And today that iPhone just got a whole HELLUVA lot better.

If by "Connesieurs" (oops...spelling...), you mean people that must have copy and paste, you must mean verysmalldetailsthatwillprobablycomeoutsoonanywaysandpeoplearefreakingoutovernothingwhenreallytheupgradekicksass people, then I gotcha.

I've been looking all over the site for the AT&T rate plans, but I guess they took them down with the update... I'm guessing $60/month + $300 (white iPhone!) + $300 deposit (i hate my credit)...

$600 initial payment. Ouch.

CEO hobbies

So I guess ol' Stevie-Boy doesn't read the rumor sites afterall, does he? lol

Cuz he sure as hell missed the ball on this one?!!!

what a let down. NO 32gb, no camera-improvement, no copy and paste.

steve... u didn't make my day!

well put!!!

so stop the hating on those that are disappointed!

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU like Mac OS X; en) AppleWebKit/420.1 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/3.0 Mobile/4A102 Safari/419.3)

I am glad I didn't sell my first gen. I prefer metal instead of tacky plastic. 2.0 software update I AM excited about that. So WWDC is sort of "meh" this year

GREAT NEWS if you're looking to buy a new iPhone.

BAD NEWS if you were looking for any MACINTOSH NEWS at this WWDC.

I'm disappointed overall. :-(

QFT.
A) no truly new hardware products were announced
B) revised products weren't available right away.

There's no doubt $199 is a great price for an iPhone, look how many of us paid way more than that for the first one. Problem is, there's just not enough reason to get a new one if you already have the original (unless you only have EDGE/3G access and no WiFi). GPS and thinner don't do it for me.

So true, I was ready to drop $499 on a 32GB iPhone.

They mentioned available in a number of countries on July 11th, but didn't specifically say that means U.S. I'm guessing it does, but I was surprised it's still more than a month away. I was hoping to get one this week. I'll have to practice my patience skills.

Do you think the GPS functionality will be similar to that of other phones, or near that of a Garmin interface?

Yes it means the US. For a complete list of the countries see here: http://www.apple.com/iphone/countries/. 11th..quite long for no iPhone worldwide.

Wow...

Okay, yeah, we got a 3G iPhone with GPS, something we should've got with iPhone 1.0, but okay. Yes, now we can have programs running on the iphone. Great. But what did we actually GET today? Nothing released today, not even a new app. No new Macs, not even a maybe on a touch device. 10.6, not even shown off. Why? Because there's nothing new in it. I am glad they're upgrading it, but with no new features, why is anyone going to get it? They'll just wait till 10.7. Leopard is great. It doesn't lock up or have any viruses (yet). I don't think I'll be expecting a Mac soon that can handle 16TB of ram. Then, the iPhone doesn't have MMS, doesn't have front camera, doesn't even do cut and paste. No new iLife. Okay maybe I'm just getting old, but I remember these keynotes having so much stuff in them it was ridiculous. I mean, they'd pump out a new Mac, new OS, new iLife, new consumer and pro apps, all kinds of stuff. Now, it's an HOUR a FULL HOUR of SDK demos of ho hum iPhone apps...THAT WE'VE ALREADY SEEN AT THE LAST APPLE EVENT!!!! And, I fell asleep in that one too! Let's face it, there was only MAYBE 20 minutes of actual keynotey goodness in here. Come on, Steve! Where's the Wow?

I think you can only be considered a connoisseur if you can spell it.

Broke even with my iPhone..

Thank god I waited... 3G and GPS were the functions I wanted before switching. I feel bad for everyone who dropped 600 dollars on an iPhone thinking they'd get good value selling them used. I think a 2G iPhone is probably going to be worth 80 dollars on craigslist, tops. :(

Just wanted to throw it out there that I sold my 16GB iPhone 2 days ago for $525. Payed $530 after taxes for it. Feel like I broke even. Just using a friends old phone until July 11th!
