I'm going to guess at least 3000 dollars.

Some blog is guessing 2500, it would be cheap at that price... and Apple is not known for that (I also agree with one of them when Apple puts out something they think is top of the line, they will price it pretty hefty for that).

Want one, looks stunning I have to say, there really isn't anything else on the market like it. I'm waiting for someone to complain why it doesn't have dual top end graphics cards?:)

And I was pleasantly completely wrong!

Though I was thinking with the 756 GB HD...

Still, even with a 256 GB HD, that is pretty damned good. If I had the money for a new laptop I'd consider it. Even for 1000 more than the MBP I usually go for.

Awesome.

No retina on the MBPs. Quite obvious that there wouldn't be. The graphics would be intensive and the battery life to go along with that would be horrendous, particularly for those who use their macs for graphics intensive purposes.

Yes, quite obvious. ;)

Congratulations to macrumors on predicting this pretty accurately.

Let's recap: 17" gone, 15" "retina" with pixel doubling leading to the same low resolution the previous Mac Book "pro" sported (1400x900 or so?), lack of essential ports....

Just like any time I was ready to go Mac they disappoint. My 6 year-old Thinkpad has a better screen than that. Fail. Looks like I have to get another Thinkpad or HP and live with Win 7. Too bad. I really wanted to like the stuff this time. But their obsession with design and eliminating "legacy" ports gets me every time. Ignorant, arrogant, unprofessional latte sippers.

This just about clinches it. If the non-retina 15" MBP does NOT have a 1920x1080 or 1920x1200 option, I'm getting a 17" MBP MD311LL/A while I can.

1680x1050 is close, but not good enough. The retina MBP is just 1440x900 actual real estate, and apps have to be updated for retina otherwise they'll look like crap. No thanks. Maybe in a generation or two I'll jump, or when Apple lowers RAM prices.

Disappointing. Especially if the RAM is soldered in the retina MBP. This may be my final Mac for a while. I hate that the 17" is now gone.

At this point, I hope I don't know what I'm talking about and my opinions are wrong. I hope I'm misunderstanding something.

I hope we can turn off the alerts, it's one of the most irritating things about windozes, popping up all those alerts when you are really trying to work...

Edit: Yup appears it does, that's good!

I'm wary of that Glossy Screen, plus it's a Rev A product. But i'm still pretty tempted.

Hmmm should i wait for them to tweak out the design quirks when Haswell comes or jump in now. *sigh* decisions decisions...

EDIT: Everything is soldered in which means you have to pay Apple premiums for upgrade. That might've just put me off altogether. Oh well maybe next revision.

Finally, proof of snappiness beforehand.

Seems like Apple like the Chrome Sync stuff quite a bit that Safari has it in iCloud Tabs.

It is handy having your tabs synced from desktop to mobile over the air.

They keep this up, and I won't be able to work off-grid any more, but I guess I'm just weird that way....
