RIP Macbook Air!

Stage Manager - ROFL , that's like a redesigned Program Manager from Windows 3.11
And even the Program Manager had more features.

I was holding my breath for some kind of "MDI" hack (Multiple Document Interface - for the youngsters out there). We can all breath easily now. Stage Manager actually looks useful.
Edit: I actually just gave Apple a complement! Yeah I know, it's been a long time.

Wow, the new 10-GPU MBA is really expensive. When adding some specs like 16GB RAM ,you are getting close to the 14" M1 Pro MBP.

The M1 MBA is way cheaper for the same RAM and SSD configuration.
Yep. The 14 is now the better buy. I’m hoping for some M1 MBA sales also.

I'm pretty sure that "Mail is Significantly Updated" square is going to be unused.
Depends on your definition of "significantly updated" is but I marked this on my board since they did spend some time talking about updates to mail (which seems significant enough for me).

Yeah I really don't quite understand what's great about stage manager, well at least in the last 20-30 years. Most of it seems like a way to make up for the lack of a taskbar. I'm trying to think why I would want to give up screen real estate like he shows it, versus just having my programs outlined in a small, unobtrusive taskbar with peek capabilities... Hmm, now where have I seen that before?

But anywhooo, whenever I use MacOS it always strikes me just how much the OS skirts around the mostly useless Dock bar. Even after spending money on aftermarket programs to fix it up (Thank God for uBar) it's still doesn't make much sense from a UI pov to me.

Purchased a MacBook Pro 14 just 20 days ago, but will be hitting the return button tomorrow. The Air in midnight is just too sexy, it hurts that I have to pay €180 more for 16/512 than for the Pro, but the lighter weight just suits me better. And it just looks good!

Don’t know about you guys… but my head will literally explode if they announce the calculator app for iPad!! 🤣😂🤣
Not so fussed about Calculator, personally, as I have a watch and a phone that I can use if I need it, it's just nice to have that new weather app on a bigger screen, as so much nicer to look at since they rebuilt it using their Dark Sky purchase.

No Apple Silicon Mac Pro. Depending on how you interpret Apple's statements they either have until the end of this year for the transition or they failed to reach their milestone today.
Usually new Mac Pro/Mac mini, etc is October/November.

It's only usually the MacBook Air that's shown off and released earlier in the year.

Therefore, nothing to worry about with their 2 year deadline.

No Mac Mini, I guess?
Nope, more's the pity. I don't get why not, but whatever. Now I'm wondering which of the strategies I follow to replace my 27" 2014 Retina iMac. Get the damned Mini and live with M1; Get an M2 Air and use it in clamshell like a desktop; wait *again* for the chance they'll release the next mini in the fall.

Blah.

Tiny detail on the new MacBook Air promo site, but I think this one of the first times I've seen non-stock apps in the dock (and not in the "recent apps" section on the right).
You’ve always been able to keep any app in the dock. Ctrl click on the icon you want to keep in the dock, Options->Keep in Dock
